History of the Corrie Weekly updates
It was a friend in San Diego
who first asked me to write a weekly synopsis and email it to
her, back in 1994. Now, my Coronation Street weekly update has
its own e-mail list with over 6,000 subscribers and is read by
thousands more each week via Coronation Street fan web sites.
The reason I continue to write the updates is a simple one. I
missed my favourite show when I lived in the US for three
years and know how much people worldwide rely on the updates
to keep them informed about events on the Weatherfield
cobbles.
The feedback I receive is phenomenal. There
are airline cabin crews who pin the update inside their rest
area on planes so they can read it when not attending to
turbulence. There's a hair salon in Canada where the owner
prints off the update and passes it around while customers are
having their hair done. There are ex-pats in the Carribbean
who sit around their pool drinking a large G&T while
reading the update. There are even relief workers in Africa
who rely on relatives sending them the update from the UK via
airmail.
