David’s not best pleased to find out that Billy has offered refuge to Josh in his flat. And he’s less happy when he finds out that Bethany knew about this and didn’t tell him. First though, he deals with Josh and drives him to a remote part of Manchester, pretends he’s going to take him to the cop shop and leaves the partially-sighted Josh on a back street wondering what’s going on. David’s exorcised his demons at last and drives back to the street telling Shona that he feels like he’s his old self again. Then he deals with Bethany and gets his revenge on her by having her carry out all kinds of errands for him. Yes, the old David is definitely back.

News of Cormac’s death spreads fast and his dad, evil drug dealer Ronan turns up, looking for someone to blame. That someone is Ryan, who’s as thick as two short planks, but no murderer. Sophie changes her statement with the cops, this time telling them the truth about what time Ryan left her on the cobbles. The cops quiz Ryan again and while they’re doing so, a packet of drugs falls out of his pocket. He’s nicked, thrown into a cell and a bent copper on Ronan’s pay roll calls him to let him know what’s happened. Ronan pays Michelle a call at home, and he’s a wonderfully evil, proper baddie.

Kirk, Tyrone and Daniel go in search of a big cat said to be roaming the streets of Weatherfield. There’s no such thing, of course, it’s just a handy plot line so that they capture some video footage of Hannah picking up the blackmail money from the Victoria Street garden.  Liz can’t believe her eyes and ears when Johnny shows her the video and explains about the blackmail. She confides in Jim about what Hannah’s gone and done and the two of them end up snogging. Hannah sees this, of course, and in her anger she smashes a window on the street.

Ali has a go at Jude and tells him he needs to come clean with Roy over who really saved his life. Just when we think Jude has had a rush of conscience after hearing Ali’s words, he returns Roy’s cheque for three thousand pounds. Phew, we all think, Jude’s not as bad as we thought. Wrong. He then asks Roy for a cheque for five thousand pounds instead.

Little Jack heads back to school this week and he’s upset and crying over his friends’ reaction to his amputated leg. Kev’s at his wits end wondering what to do. Meanwhile , new teacher Brian helps allay Jack’s fears in some rather touching scenes.

And finally this week it’s Tracy’s hen do in the Bistro and Tim lets slip about Steve mistaking the free spa pass for a feel free have a pass at Leanne, pass. Except Tracy doesn’t know about Steve’s fling with Leanne, not yet anyway, but Steve comes clean to Abi about it all.

HOSPITAL KLAXON: Sinead goes for baby scan and finds out she might have cervical cancer.

And so, without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.

And that’s just about that for this week.
