Peter Barlow fell off the wagon this week and ended up in bed with Steve McDonald.  Yes, Peter got stonking drunk after Carla told him she was pregnant and Tina told him she thought she was with child too.  That would be enough to drive anyone to drink and it knocked Peter over the edge and into the nearest pub.  Steve goes to collect him to bring him home but realising he can’t take Peter home in such a drunken state, he stays overnight with him in a bed and breakfast.    In some wonderfully funny scenes, the morning after the night before they wake up in bed together.  Peter realises that he’s got a hangover the size of Salford itself, and worse still, that he’s confessed to Steve about both his wife and his fancy-piece Tina being up the duff.    The two fellas get home, with a story they’ve concocted about Steve being the one who was the worse for wear for drink.  Steve then has to pretend he’s hungover all day, while Peter gets the shakes in the flat and tries not to succumb to drinking again.  Tina pops round with a pregnancy test and to Peter’s relief she’s not pregnant. But Tina’s distraught. “I wanted our baby,” she cries. Peter dumps her – slowly and carefully, but definitely, and she leaves the flat, telling Steph later at home: “If he thinks he can live happily ever after he’s got another thing coming!”.  I’m just glad little Simon’s rabbit is already dead because there was a definite bunny-boiler glint in Tina’s eye as she said that.

Elsewhere this week, Anna calls Valerie Phelan to the house for a chat. She tries to play to Valerie’s soft side, asking her to call off Pat’s campaign against Owen and Gary. However, what Anna hasn’t realized yet is that Valerie Phelan doesn’t have a soft side and she couldn’t care less.

Over at Sally’s, she’s not best pleased to find out that Sophie and Maddie are together. You know, together.  When Kevin tells Sally that there’s something Sophie needs to tell her, Sally asks: “Are they doing drugs?”. “It’s not drugs they’re doing, it’s each other,” Kev replies.  Ooh, you should have seen Sally’s face.  She really doesn’t like Maddie at all.

The gym at Victoria Court opens for business this week and first through the door at V Court Fitness is Norris, followed by Kirk.  Norris is only there for the free coffee and Kirk wonders how long the place has been open.  They’re not exactly the type of customers that Dev and Kal were hoping for, but everyone has to start somewhere.

And over at Barlow’s Buys, Peter tells Rob and Tracy that their six month free-rent period is now up and he wants his rent paying, in full.  It’s rent that Rob and Tracy can’t afford and so when Jason’s dad tells them he can get them some knock-off goods cheap to sell in their shop, Tracy’s interested to find out more.

Oh and something else happened this week… I can’t recall what it was.  Hang on,,,  what was it again? Oh yeah. Blonde woman, shrill, cockney accent.  Yeah, her. She left.

And that’s just about that for this week.

This week's writers were Joe Turner, Damon Rochefort, Susan Oudot, Mark Wadlow, Simon Crowther. Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team at http://coronationstreetupdates.blogspot.com/2008/11/exclusive-all-current-corrie-writers.html
