August 3 2013 Baby Jake leaves hospital this week and Gary and Izzy are all fingers and thumbs and hurt feelings. Gary’s upset that the baby settles better with Izzy than with him, and Izzy’s hurt that Gary’s hurt and little Jake, he just does what a baby does and sleeps and eats and smells. Both parents want to spend more time with baby Jake and decide to go part-time at work to give little Jake full-time care. In the midst of all the nesting and baby-love, Tina takes off on holiday, to top up her tummy tan with Tommy. Down at the station, fireman Paul gets hauled in to see his boss who tells him a formal complaint has been made against him for making a racist remark. Paul’s livid, wrongly accuses Lloyd of making the complaint and attacks him on the cobbles. He’s even more livid when he finds out it was good Christian child Sophie Webster who has made the complaint and knows now he really has to apologise to Lloyd. With a four pack of cheap beer as a peace offering, Paul makes his way to the cab office where Lloyd shakes Paul’s hand, accepts his apology this time around and takes a can. The fact he keeps it for later and doesn’t share it with Paul right there and then was a lovely little touch, even if he was working, it was like an acknowledgement to Paul that he might have apologised, but he wasn’t forgiven and the incident certainly will never be forgotten. But Lloyd has more on his mind than an idiot racist. He and Mandy aren’t getting on well and he has to defend daughter Jenna who gets a job in Roy’s Rolls when Mandy thinks she could do much better. She could, I’m sure, but for now, there’s a job in Roy’s Rolls that’s free and it’s hers. The job in Roy’s Rolls comes up after Hayley tells Roy she wants to take a holiday, to think about the future and plan for her op. Roy’s started sleep-walking again and the two of them need some space and some time. Mary kindly offers them the use of her motorhome, in the hope that Norris will ask her to move with him and Emily now she’s made herself homeless. And with that, the Croppers are gone, leaving Sylvia, Anna and Jenna serving up the bacon barms. Down at the Bistro, Nick’s not best pleased to read critical online reviews . It’s all David’s work and he steps up his game by nicking cash from the Bistro and sending Leanne a poison pen letter asking her if she knows where her husband was on Christmas night - and with whom. Leanne begs Nick for the truth, which he won’t give her and lies through his teeth as they both anguish over who could have sent the letter to Leanne. “It has to be someone we know,” cries Leanne, as Nick’s eyes pan over to his brother. From somewhere under Nick’s breath and from the bottom of his soul, he whispers: “David. It’s David.” And now that Nick knows that David knows about Kylie’s baby, there’s going to be trouble, you know. Finally this week, Rob and Tracy open their second-hand shop in the old bookies shop and call it Barlow’s Buys. It’s full of old knock-off , some of which Tracy buys from Rob’s made Fat Lenny, who’s thin. Tracy tries to sell an iPhone to Mary who tells her: “I’ve got pianist’s fingers, which is much like housemaid’s knee, only more middle-class.” Rob’s not best pleased that Tracy’s bought stuff from Fat Lenny as he knows how dangerous he is to do business with. “He killed someone!” he yells at Tracy to which she replies: “Everbody makes mistakes!”. Wonderful stuff. And that’s just about that for this week. And that's just about that for this week.
