Tonight saw the disintergration of friendships and relationships alike as Fiona finally got to know the truth about Steve's one night dalliance with Fiona. As you can expect her reaction was one of horror and it was clear from the outset that the two of them would no longer be an item. In all truth I expected Steve to put up more of a fight for the woman he professed to love but in the end I think even he realised the ramifications of what he had done.

There was of course the reading of the riot act from both Jim and Liz as Steve was forced to hang his head in shame over what he had done. Once again though there was little that even they could do about the matter especially in light of the history the McDonalds had with Fiona. Maxine meanwhile tried to explain what had happened between her and Steve but Fiona wasn't prepared to give her the time of day and she was left to flee in tears.

Alec and Rita meanwhile were taking a good deal of banter from the regulars in the Street now that the doorway they had been trying to install between thier homes had become public knowledge. Rita bit her lip and took all the wisecracks she could stand from the likes of Janice Battersby but it wasn't going to be an easy day for her or Alec as a result.

The police meanwhile were looking for Curly in light of the supermarket incident. He was however nowhere to be find and only a select few were truly aware he had dissapeared. Spider, Emily and Alma were quick to cover for thier friend however in his absence although Alma found herself in a sticky situation when she was caught in Curly's house making it look "lived in" to prevent any more suspicion being aroused.

When Alec wasn't dodging the barbed humour that was being fired his way tonight he spent the rest of the time plotting and planning to extend the licencing hours of the Rovers. He planned to use Audrey's council influence to get his wishes granted but was surprised to find that Audrey wasn't prepared to bend to his wishes in the slightest. A fact that would fill him with dismay, Fred however reckoned if he talked to Audrey he might get a more positive result if he used his dulcit tones on her.

The night came to a close with Steve sliding out of Fiona's life forever. She had decided to go to her mother's house for a night to compose herself thus giving Steve the chance to move his things out of the flat they had shared together. Once again the cocksure manner we had come to know him for seemed to have gone and he seemed ready to accept an early defeat.

All in all : O.K

4475 - Friday 18 September
The hardest part of the night was faced by Sally as the mounting stress of being away from her children began to tell on her. A relatively short seperation from her beloved Rosie and Sophie had left her at the end of her tether and with Kevin showing no signs of relinquishing his grip on sole custody the future certainly didn't look any brighter for her.

Elsewhere Steve was leaving his own personal battlefield behind and sneaking off to lick his wounds. His destination was London where he reckoned some downtime with some old friends would see him rested and recharged before returning home to Weatherfield. However he would leave with the chiding words of his mother Liz ringing in his ears telling him what a fool he had been to let Fiona down like he did.

Jack and Vera meanwhile weren't the happiest of campers either as Alec's new agreement in the Rovers to keep them on as staff made them feel increasingly smaller and smaller. Now they were faced with diminshed pay packets as they had to pay rent on their living accomadation above the Rovers. A fact that made Vera especially feel angry and betrayed by the little weasel who had once been her and Jack's business partner.

I reckon we also saw the first crack in the relationship between Sally and Greg tonight as well as he came home from something of a hard day on the road only to face a distraught Sally worrying about her children. She told him things weren't moving fast enough for her liking and wanted some results in getting the solicitor moving on her behalf.

Greg however was dragging his heels as usual and the two ended up in a blazing row. Greg walked out and went to the Rovers only to return a short while later when he possibly figured out which side his bread was buttered. He made a few more insincere promises about seeing his solicitor and getting the process speeded up with regard to the children and even reckoned that he would try and get somewhere more suitable arranged for them to live. This seemed to appease the gullible Sally for now but I can't help thinking it was all ringing a bit false.

The night ended with Jim going to see Fiona in a bid to make her "see sense" and have Steve back. It was a pointless exercise however as Fiona had made up her mind that she and Steve were finished and as if to add insult to injury she told Jim a little more about Steve than he would perhaps want to know. She told him that it was his son's fault that he was in a wheelchair as he hadn't fell off the scaffolding but instead he had been pushed, a nugget of information that was bound to make sparks fly.....

All in all : O.K

4476 - Sunday 20 September
As ever something of a war zone in the Street as Jim came to terms with the knowledge from Fiona that his own son was responsible for his paralysis so many months ago. He couldn't even begin to take the news in until he had spoke to Fiona again in an effort to clarify everything she had said to him. All Fiona did was confirm the story and leave Jim knowing his son was a potential murderer. Naturally this news was set to drive a wedge deep into the McDonald family and it started by sparking anger in Jim's wife Liz.

Elsewhere Greg and Sally faced problems of thier own over the fate of Sally's children. Of course sides were being drawn up by thier respective friends such as Martin and Gail but that didn't seem to offer any solution to the problem. Kevin meanwhile decided to let Natalie babysit for the girls that morning as he faced something of a rush job at work. Things were going fine apart from a little run in with Gail until Sally saw Natalie in the street with her children. It led to a very public display leaving Sally distraught in tears as Kevin stopped his estranged wife from taking care of her children. As always Greg was on the sidelines doing his level best to do as little as possible where Sally's children were concerned.

Meanwhile Roy and Hayley were looking at a house on the other side of town. It would Hayley's home now she had sold her late father's property and for a while it seemed she was falling for the smarmy patter of the estate agent. Roy of course was the voice of reason spelling out any potential pitfalls of the house she was looking at. In the end Roy's words did convince Hayley that she might be better looking for somewhere a little more suitable.

Towards the end of the night Natalie sat down with Kevin and told him he might be better off giving Sally access to the children. It would be a load of his mind and would give him a much needed break from the pressures of being a single father. The words seemed to ring home for Kevin because he went to see Sally and told her she could arrange access visits for the children. If you didn't actually see the episode you missed out on the pure distaste that was etched all over Greg's face as he was finally faced with the prospect of having Sally's little rug rats under his feet on a regular basis.

The final scene was given over to a showdown between Liz and Fiona. Liz wanted to air her grievances about Fiona's method of revelation with regard to Jim's accident. She reckoned that Fiona's words were a plot of revenge designed to destroy the McDonald family from within and judging from what had happened she might have just achieved her objective....

All in all : Good

4477 - Monday 21 September
Sally was a different woman tonight as she prepared for a night in with her children and Greg. Of course Greg was showing his usual signs of disinterest but Sally alas was still not seeing the full picture. She was soldiering on with a happy heart now that she once again had the chance to be with her beloved girls.

Meanwhile the atmosphere at the McDonald household was not so much as frosty but more in the sub zero region. Steve was due back from London today and Jim would be facing him with the fresh knowledge that his son had tried to kill him that fateful day on the scaffolding. This news of course came courtesy of Fiona his now ex partner who had told Jim the whole truth about what had happened shortly before his paralysis.

Jack meanwhile was planning to stake a £1000 on a big bet which would ensure him some big dividends. He was asking Des for advice in his capacity as a bookie but thankfully Des was unwilling to assist the foolish man in his escapades.

The inevitable confrontation between Jim and Steve exploded and Steve tried as ever to wriggle his way out of trouble. The truth of the matter was Steve was panicking badly as his father flew into a blind rage and promised he would be the man to tell the police about what his errant son. This looked like it would leave a gaping wound in the McDonald family for the longest time to come.

Fiona meanwhile came clean to her mother about what had happened between her and Steve. It was news that she should have told sooner but it seemed now was as good a time as any. Her mother told her that she would be better moving away from the area and starting again away from Steve and Maxine.

Greg's evening with Rosie went badly. He took to child minding about as well as a fish taking to a bicycle. When Rosie accidentaly spilled a drink near Greg's computer he hit the roof and as a result Rosie found herself coming home earlier to try and alleviate the terrible atmosphere. Perhaps as a result Sally would now see her dream boat in a new light.

Steve meanwhile confronted Fiona angrily in the street and issued something of a veiled threat towards her regarding the things she had said to Jim and this only made her mother keener to get Fiona away from all the trouble that had been caused as a result of the McDonald. It looked like Fiona was now on her way.....

All in all : Good

4478 - Wednesday 23 September
The night started with Greg and Sally pondering how they could make thier next meeting with Rosie and Sophie a little better than the last one. It was clear that Greg however remained completely uninterested in the proceedings and seemed keen to avoid the subject at all costs. Sally of course couldn't see this and seemed ready to sweep any misgivings she had about Greg under the carpet.

It wasn't easy for Keving thought because in a heart to heart with Martin he confessed to still having feelings of love for Sally in spite of everything she had done to him in the last couple of months. His feelings manifested themselves awkwardly though and his exchanges with Sally regarding looking after the sickly Sophie were somewhat cold and definitely strained.

Maxine sloped back into the salon looking for something of a reference and perhaps a reconciliation of sorts. She was on a losing streak though because Fiona looked like she wouldn't spit on her if she was on fire. Her distaste for all and sundry McDonald related manifested itself in her desire to shut up shop and move away with Audrey having the first offer on the salon.

Jack meanwhile was down at the bank plotting and planning ways to change the status of his bank account with Vera. A change which would enable him to access the account single handedly.....

Maxine found a shoulder to cry on with Ashley who showed his usual brand of compassion alas he was often at a loss for the right things to say and it showed in thier brief conversation together.

Hayley continued to flat hunt without too much success and Gail wondered if perhaps Hayley might want to move in with her good friend and confidante Roy.

Jack meanwhile managed to take advantage of Vera while she was tired by getting her to sign the bank details required to make Jack the sole signature provider for the account. This seemed particularly devious even for Jack I thought.

Audrey was having trouble persuading Alf to buy the shop and ended up turning to Fred Elliott as a potential investor for the business. Of course Fred was keen to invest in anything that would get him closer to Audrey and arranged to view the place the next day. This little ploy would enable Audrey to get hold of the business quickly which is what Fiona wanted.

The night ended with a jealous Kevin ringing Sally to get her to baby sit the children while he went out for a drink. It was of course just a plan to try and spoil her and Greg's night out. He told Sally if she didn't do her duty to the children then he would leave them in the house alone while he ventured forth to the Rovers.

Sally of course took the bait and came round with Greg who proceeded to get a touch on the mouthy side and as a result a rather paltry little scuffle broke out which sealed the episode.

All in all : O.K

4479 - Friday 25 September
Tonight saw Jack rather foolishly getting himself into betting trouble as he decided today would be his big day at the races. His favoured betting was on the dogs and after drawing out £1000 from the bank he decided he would follow a system of sticking to the same numbered dog in each race in an effort to beat the odds and become a rich man.

He had a strange partner his afternoon in the bookies in the form of Martin who was in to place a very small bet on a football match. He decided to stay and watch as Jack incrementally increased his gambles and on a number of occasions Jack managed to catch some wins. However in the end the only winner was the bookies and a very downfallen Jack walked out £1200 poorer. He had dented the money he and Vera had in the bank....surely he would be found out in due time.

Sally seemed to be on a path to isolation as the gossips turned out in force to ponder her involvement with Greg and his recent public row with Kevin Webster. Rita tried to speak to Sally in an effort for her to see sense but it was no good, Sally was blinkered and could only see the love she felt for Greg even though he was clearly showing signs of being an unreliable sort.

Fiona meanwhile would bow out of the Street tonight getting ready to start a new life away from those who had made it such a misery in recent times. Maxine tried to make amends with her old friend but it was no good. Fiona had little to say to the young woman who had now become her enemy and she had nothing to say to Steve either as she drove away for good.

All in all : O.K

4480 - Sunday 27 September
Tonight saw Jack becoming something of a worried man as Vera made plans for a holiday for the two of them abroad still in the dark about his spending spree at the bookies. Jack believed Alec would be dead set against the idea but it was quite the opposite in fact he thought a holiday would be O.K while trade was a little slack.

Jack's answer to this problem was to go out and gamble a little more in an effort to win back some of his losses but once again as always he was backing a loser....

Meanwhile Fred and Audrey looked a deal closer to becoming business partners in the salon now Alf had put the brakes on the idea. It seemed as though Fred would bend over backwards for Audrey which did seem to gain a few concerned looks from her towards the end of the night as they discussed thier plans in the Rovers.

A big storyline tonight however was Hayley and Roy moving in together. There was of course a deal of good natured if slightly smutty banter from the factory floor at Baldwin's place. However Hayley took it in her stride and was in fact looking forward to what the night could possibly offer her.

It all became too much for Sally though and she left work early with a definite plan in mind to ease her anxiety. She intercepted Kevin before he got to the respective places where his children were being looked after while he was at work and she took them home with him. Of course this left him in a state bordering on rage and when he eventually tracked her down at her flat above the corner shop a rowq ensued with Sally threatening to phone the police.

The night ended however with Roy and Hayley getting ready for bed but Roy deciding to sleep alone on the settee. His reason being that he was an old fashioned sort who didn't believe in sex before marriage. As a result of this he asked Hayley to marry him. He didn't however realise that such an idea was an impossibility thanks to Hayley's original gender which was on her birth certificate. A tender moment ruined by legality and one which upset Hayley deeply....

All in all : O.K

4481 - Monday 28 September
Jack was heading for the chopping block tonight as Vera decided she wanted to make a transaction at the bank only to find that her husband had been dipping into their joint funds already. He was of course terrified of the consequences of what he had done and his answer was to simply throw more money at the bookies in an effort to win back some of his losses.

Meanwhile Sally was playing hardball with the children and thier custody situation. She had taken them out of school in an effort to stop Kevin getting his hands on the them. In fact any effort he made to see his children was stopped by Sally as she decided enough was enough and was taking no more.

Roy and Hayley discussed the injustices of thier inability to get married but when Hayley tried to make headway in the discussions regarding taking thier relationship to a physical level Roy of course clammed up in his usual shy demeanour.

Audrey meanwhile was all set to roll out the salon as her own with the help of Fred Elliott but when Alf found out about her intentions he changed his mind about investing in the business and decided he would make a go of it with her instead. Fred of course was disappointed to the point of anger and it looked like Audrey's actions had soured thier friendship.

Jack's luck meanwhile changed for the better and he had a big win at the bookies. This meant he was actually finishing ahead of the game as far as the money was concerned. Vera of course was naturally still livid about what had transpired to the extent that she decided to close their account and transfer the money into a new one in her name only....Jack was foiled.

The night ended with Roy and Hayley preparing for a night of passion. There was one problem though and that was the fact that neither of them had any experience in that department. In a hilarious scene Roy was getting more and more flustered about what might lie ahead but luckily Hayley was there to soothe his ailing nerves and while the strains of "Natural Woman" played on the Hi Fi the two slowly departed to the bedroom.....

All in all : Good
