No Corrie tonight.

Sunday 3 September

Written by Joe Turner and directed by Tom O'Mara

Thanks to the football, the schedules are up in the air once again and we're visiting the cobbles on a Sunday evening where Zeedan is going for a run. He's stopped in the street by Pat who needs some inside information. Pat claims he wants to cook Eileen her favourite tea which just happens to be the same meal that Andy used to love. Zee recalls he ate chicken Caesar salad almost every night he worked in the Bistro.

Just along the street, Tim's telling Steve that he's auditioning to wear the Buzzer Bee costume as the Weatherfield County Football Team mascot. Kirk's ears prick up when he hears that the role comes with the added perk of free match tickets.

Rana bumps into Kate and reminds her that they're planning a night out.

Tim arrives home ready to share his news with Sally but she has something she wants to tell him first. But hearing she's planning to run for Mayor goes down like a lead balloon and Tim tells her in no uncertain terms she's not doing it after what happened last time.

Round at Eileen and Pat's, she's surprised to find him busy in the kitchen making the Caesar salad but, beyond asking whether it's a special occasion, she doesn't question him further.

We return to the Metcalfes' where Tim is still trying to talk some sense into Sally. But she's determined it's what she really wants and Tim finally resigns himself to the fact she won't take no for an answer. It also puts paid to his plans to become the Buzzer Bee mascot – he can see that keeping an eye on Sally will be a full-time job. It's lucky Tim 's come around to the idea because Sally reveals the contents of the box she's holding - it's full of "Metcalfe for Mayor" badges.

In the salon Amy's hoping for a head full of Balayage highlights but Tracy's only paid for quick trim. Meanwhile, Summer is waiting with Todd to have her hair cut when his phone rings - he needs to go back to the office to collect a file. Summer insists she'll be fine on her own. Amy makes a fuss, she doesn't want to be left alone with Summer after what she did last time, but Summer promises she'll make it up to her, before grinning wickedly to herself.

Nicola meets up with Eileen in Roy's Rolls. Anna comments to Shona that they seem very friendly with each other. Her face drops like a stone when Shona tells her that Nicola is Pat Phelan's long-lost daughter.

Over at the factory, Sally is busy handing out her campaign badges. There's a distinct lack of enthusiasm from everyone, especially Gina. Sally offers a free drink to anyone who turns up to her first campaign meeting in the Rovers.

Nicola's on the phone to Pat. She was hoping he'd be with her for the completion on her house but he's busy with an important job. He's stamping down the earth at the bottom of a large hole he's dug in the garden where he's keeping Andy hostage. He promises they'll meet up later to celebrate.

We return to Roy's Rolls where Rosie has joined Gemma to talk about Rita. Rosie tells Gemma she's known Rita all of her life and she's sure she'd notice if anything was wrong but Gemma's convinced there's a serious problem of some sort.

Anna goes over to Eileen's table and marks Nicola's card. She tells her she feels sorry for her, coming from Pat Phelan's gene pool but Eileen tries to dismiss it, and says that Anna's had it in for Nicola's dad for a very long time. But Nicola can be left in no doubt as to how Anna feels about Pat.

Over in the corner shop, Summer is checking out the household cleaning section with Amy. Asha says she's sure the bottle she's picked up is for clearing drains, not doing highlights but Summer tells Amy confidently that if you mix the right products together you can get any colour you want.

We return to Pat who is now inside the house with Andy. It's almost dark but light enough to see a rat scuttling across the kitchen sink. Pat presents Andy with the Caesar salad but Andy beyond being able to eat and passes out.

Summer has set up her "salon" back in the flat. As she prepares to apply her concoction to Amy's hair, Asha asks if she can have hers done next.

Back at the derelict house, Andy is still unconscious. Pat drags him into a sitting position, covers his head with a blanket and picks up a heavy shovel. As Pat leans over, ready to hit him across the head, Andy comes to and pulls off the blanket, seeing what Pat is about to do.

We return to the street where Rosie has gone back to Rita's flat with Gemma. When Rosie goes into the kitchen to make some tea she finds a pile of notes Rita has written to herself with reminders and finally she agrees with Gemma. At that moment they hear Rita returning and hastily return the notes.

Pat has second thoughts, and puts down the shovel. Andy is desperate, he needs medical help and tells Pat he'll die anyway if he doesn't get him to a doctor.

Meanwhile, Todd returns home to discover a lot can happen in the time it takes to pop back to the office to collect a file. It's not too late to rescue Asha but Amy already has her head covered in tin foil and he dispatches her off to the bathroom to wash the chemicals off her hair.

Pat appears to be getting ready to take Andy to a doctor. Andy says that if he passes out again he needs to tell them that he's allergic to penicillin. He promises not to say anything to anyone and, if asked, he'll say none of this is Pat's fault. This makes Pat think again and, without warning, Pat flies off the handle, kicks the chair out from under Andy and shouts at him that he tries to ruin everything. As Pat moves away, Andy takes the chain that was tying him down and wraps it back round his own leg.

We now go to the Rovers where Kate and Rana are about to go off for their night out. Steve is at the bar with Tim who's told him that he's given up his chance to be Buzzer the Bee to support Sally. Across the room, Sally is holding her first campaign meeting with a few of the girls who are there for their free drink. Sally is anxiously awaiting a reporter from the Gazette who promised to come along but there's no sign of her; or of Kirk, come to that.

Todd is trying to clean the flat. He's not sure what Summer put in Amy's hair, but whatever it was, it took the varnish off the table. Judging by Amy's scream coming from the bathroom, the result isn't good. "We are in so much trouble," says Todd to Summer in an understatement as Amy emerges with what remains of her hair.

Back in the Rovers, the girls have finished their drinks and are anxious to leave before Sally makes her speech so she launches into it before they have time to escape. But just as she's getting into her stride her thunder is stolen by the arrival Kirk, dressed in the Buzzer the Bee costume, swiftly followed by the reporter from the Gazette.

We return once more to the house where Andy is lying huddled under a blanket in the corner of the room. Pat tells Andy that he needs to die so that he can live. He advises him not to fight it and the pain will pass. As thunder rumbles in the distance Pat tells Andy he's made him a lovely resting place. In a final gesture, Pat smashes the lightbulb, throwing the cellar into darkness before climbing the stairs and leaving Andy to his fate ….

Karen

Good evening. As Karen explained earlier the Friday episodes were displaced to Sunday due to the need for the England football team to beat Malta. Displacement continues. Also we could do with two or three volunteers to cover episodes - if not these updates could grind to a halt.

Well this is episode 9242. It was written by Joe Turner and it was directed by Tim O'Mara. Copyright remains the property of ITV Studios to whom many thanks.

We commence this episode on the Street. Pat returns to the Street to be told by Nicola that she is now a proud homeowner. They hug. They go indoors and open a bottle of champers to celebrate. Her excitement reminds Pat of his when he bought his first house, his very own castle. She asks after the tedious job and he says it is all sorted and he can help out with the youth centre. Billy pops in looking for a jumper but joins in drinking bubbly. he is asked about Summer - she is still grieving for her loss says Billy and it takes a long time. The camera rests on Pat who is listening to the points Billy is making about loss and how it stays with you forever. Nicola talks about losing her parents. Although celebrating it is hard to forget those you have lost. Grief stays with you forever. Again Pat is shown thinking as Nicola continues in similar vein. She remembers the happy times. Today she is looking forward. Pat appears to reach a decision, he stands and says he has left the water running at Mrs Hardcastle's. He needs to go and check. Can Nicola celebrate with Billy for an hour or so? He rushes off.

In the salon David is inspecting Amy's hair. David says he can dye it back but Amy needs to do an allergy test - and he cannot do it until tomorrow. Todd says he will pay. And they will avoid Tracy until it is sorted so Amy is going for a sleepover at Summer's.

In the Rovers Tim is unhappy that Kirk is Buzzer Bee. There were two other applicants - a guy of 80 and a schoolgirl. And the suit fits! He gets to change with the players and Tommy Worthington sends his regards - Tim points out he is called Orpington! And Kirk will go to the away games on the team bus! The journalist (same one as appeared a year or two back - pretty girl who looks a little like Michelle Keegan and was in No Offence) seems more interested in Kirk than Sally's challenge for Mayor! Sally not happy. Gina observes that Sally has been stung by a bee! Beth is very proud of Kirk! Later Sally observes to the journalist that whilst politics is a serious business it is important to have a sense of humour. The journalist asks about Sally's serious policies - and then does not answer the question. Gina barracks from a booth asking what the policies are! Gina needles whilst the other factory girls support Sally. Sally wants to improve lives with better street lighting, refuse collections and security along with environmental issues. She wants to promote tolerance and understanding. She is fast losing popular support.

Rita is under discussion between the two superbrains on the Street - Gemma and Rosie. Gemma knows that Rita is struggling and that Rita knows it herself - she can see it in her eyes. The girls agree she should see a doctor and Gemma draws the short straw to tell Rita. Rosie assures her she will find the right time to do it. Meanwhile Rita has heard them whispering.

At the medical centre Pat arrives and manages to get past Liz the receptionist to see a doctor claiming to have an infected jaw. (Do not try that with our local receptionist dragons). It 5:30pm and Liz wants to knock off! The doctor inspects Pat's face and is about to prescribe some penicillin until he can see a dentist - but then pat remembers he might be allergic and the prescription is for metronidazole (another anti-biotic).

In the Bistro Kate has picked up Alison or as she is called Imogen - Rana has been getting drinks. Imogen says she could not be a nurse - she does not admit what she does - but it seems to centre around picking up strangers in bars she says - looking at Kate. Rana is feeling like a gooseberry already.

At the Rovers Tracy is being told by Amy that she is on a sleepover. Tracy gives the phone to Steve so he can hear the same story. Steve swallows it hook line and sinker. Tracy tells him for being gullible as she knows Amy cannot stand Summer. Tracy observes to Sean that the gay dads coping with a teenage daughter is between not having a clue and being way out of their depth! Tracy knows that Amy is lying because she does not like Summer and because she has inherited Tracy's aptitude for being sneaky. And Steve cannot see it. Steve says that is because he is not sneaky. Sean starts laughing and quickly stops. Tracy calls Steve the sneakiest man in town but too stupid to recognise it in his own daughter. Tracy is going to go and find out why Amy is being sneaky.

Imogen and Kate are getting on very well - and Rana is upset. Imogen tells Rana to sling her hook. Rana tells Imogen to move onto someone else. She tells Imogen to do one. (And if you are quick you will notice that Imogen's right arm appears to end at her elbow - but this is NOT mentioned or discussed by the characters). Rana and Imogen face up to each other and Kate tries to calm them down. Last chance says Rana, bring it on replies Imogen.

Pat is back descending into Andy's dark hell hole where he has broken all the lights earlier in the episode. He has found an all night chemist. Andy appears to have passed out and Pat can not stir him. After a convenient ad break Andy coughs and he is still alive. Pat has his medicine and more or less forces the tablets into his mouth along with a drink. Once the tablets have gone down Pat hugs him so relieved that he has not killed someone.

Kate has separate the warring factions and tells Rana to apologise. Kate just wants to have fun. Imogen and Rana continue to strike sparks. Imogen offers to buy a round of drinks and Rana refuses - but has backed off a little. Rana reminds Kate how she felt like a third wheel with Luke and Alya. Imogen calls Rana jealous but Kate turns on her saying that Rana is her friend. Kate apologises to Rana. She tries to jolly Rana round - but the latter says it feels weird. Rana apologises and says that she is perhaps too sensitive. Imogen asks Kate to put a necklace on for her. Kate talks Rana into another drink. But there is something wrong.

Tim and Sally are sitting with Izzy, Gina, Fiz and the reporter. They are discussing rents which Sally promises to address in her manifesto. Fiz says she sounds like a real politician. Alya sitting with Kirk (in Buzzer Bee kit) and Beth says she evaded the question magnificently. She ducked and the question flew past says Fiz. Buzzer wants to ask a question - can she get ticket prices lowered for Weatherfield County games - although he goes for free now! There is general support for the local community which impresses the journalist. For Kirk it is the best place in the world. The journalist asks Buzzer if he has considered standing to be Mayor? He says he is a normal bloke. He could not do summat like that. Beth tells Kirk he is special and could do it 10 times better than any politician. There is a general round of support "Buzzer for Mayor! Vote for t'bee!". The journalist makes notes.

Andy is feeling a little better, he thought Pat had left him to die. Pat will not say why he came back, Andy wonders if he does have a conscience after all. Pat gets a text from Nicola who wonders where he is. Andy does not push his luck.

Kate invites the two girls back for a drink, Rana says no. Zeedan finishes his shift and so Kate and Imogen who are now physically close to each other go off together giggling and snogging as they leave the Bistro. And to calm Zeedan's concerns Rana gives him a very full on snog and they head for home.

Rita is watching TV. As we all do she refers to one of the people on screen to Gemma and she describes him and his wife - but cannot remember names. Gemma wonders if she is having a bit of trouble with her memory - at which point Rita remembers he is called Alex. And his wife is Rachel. Her daughter got run over you know she adds! 3 weeks ago she went under the wheels of a minibus. And his brother was driving it. Gemma is open mouthed at Rita's sudden recall.

Sally says that a Bee running for Mayor is ridiculous. It would make a mockery of the democratic process. Gina says surely anyone can run for office. Perhaps it would be a good thing if the Bee did run to be Mayor as it would give people more choice and might lead to increased voter numbers. Gina says that then Sally needs to campaign and explain why people should vote for her. Sally says she will. (Sisters eh - who would have them?). Liz comes into the Rovers and chides Pat for drinking alcohol with his prescription. He tries to play it down. But Liz carries on. She says that Eileen is her mate and Pat reminds her that Eileen is his wife. He then warns her not to meddle in things she does not understand in quite chilling tones. Pat means it. Liz needs to keep it shut.

Billy and Tracy arrive at the flat. Tracy is wearing a hat. She is just checking Amy is OK. Amy explains her head was cold. Tracy wants to see the haircut. Amy refuses. Todd tries to get the girls to go to bed. Tracy has some lactose free yoghurt for Amy -and when she gets close Tracy pulls the hat off allowing the miscoloured hair to appear. Tracy goes off on one and Billy is pretty surprised as well. Summer 'fesses up that it was an accident. Todd admits to leaving them unsupervised. Todd says David will fix it tomorrow and he is paying. Tracy says this underlines their inability to look after children. Indeed they should not be left in charge of a goldfish! She takes Amy home. She advises Summer to ring Social Services and ask them to take her into care.

Pat returns home quietly. He overhears Eileen telling Nicola that he is a workaholic. Nicola replies that the more time she spends with Pat the more of him she sees in herself. She adds that they are alike in so many ways. He stands outside the door thinking deep thoughts.

Roll credits.

Rana obviously has a problem. No doubt this will be explained in the near future.

Meanwhile the Pat Phelan story is getting added twists. If his crimes come out then Nicola will not want to know him.

And will the Buzzer Bee run for Mayor? Great headlines in next week's paper I suspect, or perhaps Sally will get really serious about politics. We shall see.

Finally in the words of Mrs Dale I am still very worried about Emily Bishop or perhaps that should be Eileen Derbyshire.

See you shortly.

Richard

Wednesday 6 September

Robert and Michelle are walking down the Street. He's suited and booted, ready for court, she's tired and not looking forward to seeing Rich in court. Robert sees Zeedan and goes over to ask him if he can open up the bistro later, if things don't go his way in court.

Rosie sees Gemma and asks if she's spoken to Rita yet. Gemma hasn't yet, but she has a plan.

Kate is in the cafe with her new girlfriend, along with Alya and Rana. Luke comes in and reminds Kate about their tiff in the bistro. Kate was so drunk she doesn't remember it.

It's Jack's birthday and he's in the cafe with Kevin and Faye. She's more interested in her phone, however, and is texting Seb asking why he's ignoring her.

Rosie is now in the salon where Maria is attending to her hair. Robert comes in and tells Maria he's worried about Michelle, he asks that if he goes to prison if she could move in with Maria and Liam for a while. Maria is sure it won't come to that, and Rosie chirps in about positive thinking.

Pat and Eileen are in the cafe, but while she witters on about her sister, Pat's mind is obviously elsewhere. Then he says he has to get going, and leaves. On his way out of the door he meets Liz coming in, who asks him if the antibiotics sorted him out. He reminds her of patient confidentiality and strongly suggests she respects it. However, when she gets into the cafe and sees Eileen, she goes over to her and tells her that if Pat is seriously ill she knows she can talk to her. Eileen is puzzled and asks her what she's talking about. Liz then regrets saying anything as a very puzzled Eileen says that if her husband is ill she has a right to know.

In the bistro, Robert gets a call from his solicitor warning him that the judge he's going to have in court can be very tough and he might go to prison. He tells her she's not to go to court, it will be too hard for both of them.

Pat is down in the basement with Andy, he sees that Andy has almost got the chain free and says he'll have to find a better place to chain him up in there while he figures out what to do with him.

Eileen is in the office at the builder's yard looking through a diary when Nicola comes up. Eileen asks if she shouldn't be at the youth centre with her dad, but Nicola hasn't seen him. Eileen asks her if Pat has said anything about being ill, and explains how she's found that Pat went to the doctor without telling her, and now she doesn't know where he is. Nicola wonders if he could be at the house he's doing up so they decide to go over there.

Rita is writing a birthday card for Jack, but stops....she's can't remember his name. Norris teases her but she's not amused and denies forgetting. Just then Sophie walks into the Kabin and asks her if she's coming to Jack's birthday party later – and that's the trigger she needs. When Sophie has gone she writes it in the card.

Back in the basement, Pat is searching for a new place to fix Andy's chain when they hear female voices upstairs calling him.

Pat shouts out to Eileen not to come down the steps, they're a death trap. As he rushes forward, she appears at the top, saying they look fine to her. He runs up the steps and hustles her away, leaving Andy shocked and shaken as Pat bolts the door.

Faye is not a happy girl, she's received a text from Seb telling her to leave him alone. As she passes the cafe she almost bumps into Alex who is sweeping the pavement. He asks if she's been crying, but she tells him it's none of her business, and walks on. All this is watched by Seb from the balcony over the builder's yard.

Back at the derelict house, Eileen is telling Pat how Liz thought he was at death's door. He tells her he just had a tooth that was giving him trouble. He then tells her that he wanted the house to be surprise for her. He says that his friend is going to sell it to him and he's going to do it up and sell it for a profit and then pay everyone back the money they lost. Eileen is delighted, she hugs him and tells him she's so lucky to have him, he's a good man.

Over at the Webster's, Jack is opening birthday presents when Rita arrives with a football for him. Faye is sitting looking very dejected, so Rosie quietly asks her what the problem is. She tells Rosie that she loves him but now he's ignoring her calls – he's dumped her. Rosie tells her that if she wants him she'll have to fight for him.

Pat has gone back to the basement. Andy tells him that when he first heard Eileen he thought she knew he was down there, but then saw Pat's face and realised he was terrified. Pat asks him why he didn't shout out. Andy tells him that the other day he could have left him to die, but he didn't, and thinks that just maybe Pat isn't the big bad bloke that everyone thinks he is, maybe he is Patrick Phelan, father, husband. Andy trusts him to do the right thing, and is sure that one day he'll let Andy go.

Rana is in the bistro, grumpy because Zeedan is working and they haven't taken their van to a cricket match. He tells her that if Robert gets sent down he'll be head chef, and she's really pleased for him. However, Michelle overhears this and is really upset and starts shouting at them. Just then Will comes in and asks what's happening. Michelle crumbles and weeps in his arms.

Rita is in the pub with Gemma and they're chatting about Jack's birthday. While they're chatting, Gemma brings the subject round to having a terrible memory, and pulls a small card out of her pocket and tosses it down on the floor. Alya comes in and, seeing it on the floor, she picks it up and hands it to Rita who sees that it's a doctor's appointment card with an appointment for her for tomorrow.

Eileen is in the pub with Liz and Nicola, talking about the secret house. Pat comes over from the bar and sits down and apologises to Liz for kicking off at her. They talk about the house and Nicola says she thinks it's a great idea. Eileen has an even better idea, she reckons they should sell her house and move into the other one when Pat has done it up. Pat tries to put her off, saying it's a building site and will be for some time. Eileen reckons she's going to come and help.

Will and Michelle are sitting in the bistro when Maria comes in with Robert close behind. Michelle jumps up and hugs him. It seems Robert got a suspended sentence and community service. Michelle turns to Zeedan and apologises for shouting at him earlier. Will, obviously not happy at the situation, wonders aloud if Rich will come after Robert and Michelle again. Robert tells Michelle he'll protect her but he's not going to take any risks. He kisses Michelle again and Will doesn't look happy.

Anne Logan.

Friday 8 September

Hi Corrie fans, since the ITV schedule is all switched around, our rota is as well. I'm here for Friday's double episode but will be back to my usual Monday updates forthwith.

Both episodes Written by Owen Lloyd-Fox Directed by Gill Wilkinson

Andy is still chained up in the basement, with only the rats for pets. After feeding Eileen the lie about fixing up and selling the house for profit, Eileen now wants to live in it so Phelan's got to make sure to put her off for awhile.

Phelan has to make plans. He visits Andy and tells him he's decided to let him go partly in reward for not alerting Eileen the other day. Andy doesn't believe him at first but is very grateful. But it isn't as simple as all that. He's taking Andy out of the country and insisting he stays there and if he contacts anyone he knows, he's a dead man. Phelan gave Andy's hair and beard a trim (in the very badly lit room but it came out just fine) and he took Andy's photo for the passport pic. (Andy didn't flinch once with the bright flash in his eyes that are so used to the dark) Doesn't that have to be done with regulation size etc? I don't know. The rules seem a bit dodgey and free wheeling to me.

Nicola comes to see him later at the yard and she clearly has something on her mind. She really seems to be warming up to Phelan as her father, too. She tells him one of her case kids has been sent back to prison and then admits that the man she was going to do up the youth center with was her boyfriend but they've split up. She really needs that hug Phelan gives her. She then knocks over an envelope of photos of Andy, the ones he took for a passport photo only every one of them look like the reproduced Andy is far too large for a passport. He gets them back into the envelope before Eileen can see them and lies to Eileen, telling her they're "before" photos of the house. Really, though, it makes no sense in this day and age. Everyone usually leaves digital photos on the computer or prints them themselves for the most part.

Gemma really has to have a serious talk with Rita but she doesn't quite know how to go about it. It's a delicate subject to bring up, after all. Rita does admit to Norris she's had a few senior moments but we know there are far too many of them recently. Gemma did remind Rita several times about a doctor's appointment that Rita later admits to Norris she doesn't remember making. That's because she didn't. Liz comes in the Kabin and her big mouth lets the cat out of the bag. Gemma made it for Rita.

That leads to a funny scene where Gemma is waiting in the clinic for Rita. Moira has received a large bunch of flowers from her fella, just because, she tells Gemma. Gemma, naturally, suggests her boyfriend has done something really bad to warrant the flowers, like maybe run over her dog. Moira cooly informs Gemma that she doesn't own a dog. Gemma chirp "Have you got a sister?" *snicker* She finally discovers that Rita had canceled the appointment and takes off in a panic.

She finds Rita in the pub. Rita isn't really very angry at her but tells Gemma and Norris that the memory loss is a side effect of blood pressure tablets she's been taking. She checked. But is it?

It seems that Kate certainly did hit it off with Imogen. They were at the cafe for breakfast the next morning, Alya and Luke chuckling but Rana looking sour. Her solution? Suggest that she and Zeedan take a few months off and drive the food van around the country, selling at events. Could be fun I suppose. They may even have a bit of savings to fall back on, they've probably been living rent free. But Robert wants them to wait a few months first. This is the first mention ever of that food van since they acquired it. Why? Because it will come in handy later on today.

Toyah is waiting to hear from the surrogacy agency. Having a child is still taking over her life. Meanwhile, the brewery is touting a new craft beer and Peter offered the little ol' Rovers as a space to have the big, bad launch party there. But Peter isn't best pleased that Steve gossiped about him and his past to the brewery. Steve proceeded to really annoy Peter with his list of faults in the pub with the new management and got himself barred. When Toyah returns from lunch and shopping with Leanne we discover there's a clash of appointments, though, the agency has someone that might be willing to be their surrogate and she's coming on ...you guessed it, Sunday, the same day as the launch!

Will is a very good instigator. He's been lurking in his car and when Maria sees him, he invites her to lunch at the Bistro. Robert is off today to start his community service already so he's not around. We see Will stood outside the restaurant, calling the police to tell them that there are drugs being dealt through the restaurant and somehow, he managed to plant some in the busy kitchen, how, I have no idea. He's making out they are dealing out of the business but all he planted was a small baggie with about 10 pills in it. Hardly the Weatherfield Cartel, then.

Luck was on the Bistro's side, though, because Zeedan cut his finger and Michelle found the drugs in the first aid kit on the wall. They managed to get rid of it by putting it in the curry sauce, just as the police with a sniffer dog arrive, hoping the dog couldn't smell it with all the spices. It worked. Foiled again! But Michelle is taking matters into her own hands. It's Rich, she knows it is and she's going to have him. Will, Kate and Daniel follow her but not before Will tells Zeedan to let Robert know, the last thing Michelle wants.

Outside Rich's house, we're treated to more screaming and angst with Rich insisting he is innocent of all charges they're laying. A brightly decorated van with "Speed Dahl" comes zooming around the corner and Robert bounds out and across the road, with Zeedan hot on his heels. Robert is gunning for Rich though everyone holds him back lest he get into even more trouble but Will took the opportunity to call the police about "a disturbance", hoping Robert would lose control completely. He does though doesn't actually hit Rich.

Rich comes across quite sincere in his protestations to Robert, recalling their former friendship and insisting he wouldn't do all these things and has not seen Michelle since that first day at the restaurant when Daniel was hurt. Rich did say something that proves he didn't set up the drugs thing though I'm not sure Robert caught it at the time. Perhaps it will come back to him later. Rich says something about accusing him of planting coke behind the bar. But it was pills, not coke, that we saw. Anyway, the police showed up and took Robert away again.

Fay's been gloomy since she thought Seb broke up with her on Wednesday's episode. She's been trying to reach him and finally got hold of him on his land line. We saw him looking in pretty rough shape. Not only does he have a facial injury but he was shaking. Fear? Cold? Anger? Something is definitely up with that lad. He agrees to come see Faye later.

Seb pretends he got in a fight but I don't believe him. He says he wants to be with her. She desperately wants him around and if she can't persuade her mother into letting them be together, she's going to take action. Faye gets 60 pounds off her father for a class outing to a play, Romeo and Juliet, with a letter that she probably printed herself to back her story up, though it seems she's using the money for something else. She tells Seb that she booked them a day out in Chester. He promises he'll go but needs to be back by 6. later we see her open the old outhouse door in the back yard and she's got a large carry all in there. She's packing an awful lot for a day out.

Sunday 10 September

Hi there is a slight revision of our plans and with the intention of keeping the updates rolling here is the entirety on the one hour Sunday evening episode.

This was episode 9245. It was written by Susan Oudot and the director was Alan Grint. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks as usual.

We start with the first double cross. Faye has suckered her parents into coughing up for a school trip to the theatre and Seb into thinking he is going to Chester. He has made it clear to Faye that he must be back by 6pm, come what may. However she is actually whisking him off to Dublin via Holyhead. She leaves behind her phobile moan so when Anna immediately twigs that she has left her lunch in the fridge the phone rings on the sofa. Anna knows something is up but instantly jumps to the conclusion that Seb is responsible. In the UK we close the railways at the weekend to replace the tracks and so the pair of them get as far as "Mosford" and Seb is not keen on the replacement bus. Pat under Eileen's instruction gives Anna Seb's number. When Faye finds out she is on the phone she takes his phone, tells Anna she never listens and stamps on the phone. He denies being in a fight.

Anna heard the tannoy and know they are at a station. Anna logs onto the computer and finds the booking for the ferry. {OK nerdy bit - earlier Faye and Seb were on the "real" railway; they are now on a preserved railway as there are cases and churns around which are used to set scenes.} Faye wants to know who hit Seb. It was his abusive stepdad and he took it in preference to his mother or the twins being hit. He needs to get back home and he picks up some car keys and tries to steal a car. It has a steering wheel lock and he then makes a run for it leaving Faye to face the music.

Peter and Toyah have a busy day - new craft beer launch with the brewery (who do not know that Peter is a recovering alcoholic) and a meeting with Jacqui who has been sent by the surrogacy agency. The brewery manager, Jon Wallis, wants to test the beer and invites Peter to do so but Leanne steps in. Jon says that Steve McDonald was a daft beggar getting some woman pregnant. Leanne's smile wanes. Especially with that looker of a wife, Jon adds! It is busy in t'pub when Jacqui arrives asking Sean for Toyah or Peter. Sean forgets to pass the message on before having to change the barrel. Steve uses the brewery manager's presence to return to the Rovers (he was banned) and Peter cannot throw out the well known ex-landlord! Peter tells Steve to behave, but they squabble like children. Jon is chatting to the journalist and suggests Peter knocks back a pint. Jon pushes Peter to drink it - and as he takes the glass to his lips Ken arrives with Tracy. Ken asks Peter what he is doing? Tracy adds a sip of that and Peter will be sopping it off t'carpet. Once an alcoholic... Peter denies he is going to start drinking again. Jon finds a teetotal landlord humourous. Leanne points out that Steve's bit of trouble is their son Oliver - which is all right for Jon, but a recovering alcoholic is not.

Toyah weighs in saying that her sister is right there and that Steve was the one who was married at the time. The journalist has it all on tape and Jacqui has heard every word! Tracy tells Toyah that her family makes the Barlows seem normal! Leanne asks how many bodies she has buried in her back yard? At this point Sean points at Jacqui's disappearing back and tells Toyah her mate was here! Toyah rushes after her, telling Peter the surrogate has gone. She catches Jacqui outside and convinces her to come in and talk to them properly. When she comes back Leanne and Steve sort out the journalist and Peter joins Toyah and Jacqui in the back and they explain as best they can. She is unsure when she leaves but later phones to say she will go ahead. Meanwhile Steve has sorted out the beer launch and Peter is back in the bar. The two of them argue and once again Peter bars Steve from the Rovers.

Michelle has managed to get a visiting pass to jail on a Sunday and Robert has taken the benefit of being incarcerated to think about events and he reckons they might not be down to Rich. (Of course we already know that somehow Will is behind it all). Robert struggles to convince Michelle that in reality he is the problem causing the recent incidents. Michelle returns to the Bistro where Will is helping serve. She tells them that she and Robert have split up. Will gives her a reassuring hug. She can stay in the flat whilst he is inside. Michelle retreats to the office. Later Will walks her back to the flat and he hands her the keys she had left at Maria's and which he had used earlier to let himself into the flat and take a photograph. He offers to take her out - but not now. Once he has gone her phone goes and it is Robert and we become aware of double cross number three for tonight - the split up is just for show and they still love each other.

Pat is also on the double cross. He invents some work in Inverness to throw Eileen off the scent whilst he can get cellar bound Andy to the Loire Valley. He suggests inviting Nicola round for a full on Sunday roast. Over dinner they discuss Faye and Seb. Nicola the do-gooder once again expresses the view that Seb made a mistake and that people can change. Eileen takes an opposite view and Pat simply listens. Later Pat tells Andy about the Garden of France. But Pat has changed the plan again, Pat has a niggle about Andy staying quiet. Pat almost replaying Eileen from earlier is not sure he can trust Andy to stay out of sight. Andy swears on his life he will behave. This reassures Pat.

David spots that Shona does not want to spend her winnings (she neatly changes the subject) and they settle for an afternoon in the sun in the garden. Yasmeen returns the escape artist known as David the dog whom we later find out has managed to tunnel under the fence to scare the chickens who have been in a real flap! Meanwhile there is some bald guy hanging around on the Street (the titles identify him as Dane Hibbs). David tells Shona about Maria's now ended affair which Eva does not know about. He also tells her that Maria is going out with Will. David suggests that the two of them plus Maria and Will should go out for a drink together. Later Yasmeen grabs David the dog again and refuses to hand him back, confiscating the dog - which apparently has some bad nocturnal habits. Shona spots the bald guy hiding behind a car - does she recognise him? Meanwhile Yasmeen is having trouble with the other David.

Rita and Norris are stocktaking. He pushes her on the senior moments and says she has to let people help her; when he continues to push she gives him a slap and retires to her flat. Later he follows her and she admits to lying about the medication being responsible. Norris manages to convince her to see the doctor and he will go with her. She reluctantly acquiesces. Rita refuses to let Norris join her in the doctor's office and she then tells the doctor she is having trouble sleeping. We see her leaving the surgery in some distress. Rita has been shopping when she returns to the Kabin. Apparently she has to go for some tests. Norris puts the kettle on. But something is still bothering Rita.

When Faye is released from the police station, she Tim and Kevin all refuse to identify Seb. Faye then tells Tim about the abusive stepfather. She repeatedly says that Seb was not to blame. {Nerdy insertion, even in third world Britain, given his incarceration etc either social workers or Nicola should be aware of his home situation so none of this stacks up}. Kevin phones Anna who is in a little green Toyota (never before seen) - she also just happens to be on the road that Deb is walking along. She insists Seb gets in the car and she eventually takes him home once he agrees not to see Faye any more, which he does. When they get there Seb rushes in. No response from his mother but 2 little kids to greet (Charlie and Lexi Franklin). Anna surveys the mess in the front, upturned rubbish bin, dumped bicycle, lawn not mown, post on the doorstep. Seb pulls the curtain so Anna cannot see inside.

Roll credits

A busy episode with a lot of effort being put into misdirection. Shona is not lying to David - nor is she telling the truth.

I am not clear when Seb found out that Faye was misleading him - he knew nothing about Dublin and then suddenly started talking about it.

To my mind Jacqui, the surrogate was talked around a little too easily. Toyah and Peter were good - but not that good.

I wonder how many times Steve is going to get barred from the Rovers?

And I am surprised how easily everyone believed Michelle's story - but then so was she.

See you again on Friday.

Regards

Richard

Part 2 Written by Cameron McAllister Directed by Alan Grint

After having a hate on for Seb all these months, Anna's inner and outer maternal genes are shining brightly and she now feels bad for Seb having to live in the situation he's in, much to Kevin's frustration. Faye admits to knowing a bit about his home life and thinks maybe he's moved out but isn't sure since she can't contact him after breaking his phone. Kevin can tell Anna's sympathy is at Olympic levels and tries to get her to admit that Seb is not her responsibility. She sort of agrees. Half heartedly.

Anna can't help herself and goes to Seb's house. She finds him with the twins and he's not happy to see her and closes the door on her. Anna doesn't go away so Seb sends the kids, Charlie and Lexie upstairs and lets Anna in. Anna is horrified at the mess in the house. He protests that just because his mother drinks doesn't mean she doesn't work. Anna is very upset to see the situation. He forbids her to let Social Services know because they'd take the twins away. He starts to break down, insisting he's trying his best and begs her not to tell Faye the whole truth. She agrees but points out it isn't fair for the kids to have to live like that, nor him. She wants to help and wants him to come back to her house for a proper tea. I assume she means the little ones as well. She hugs him and he clings on like he hasn't had any affection from an adult in a long time.

Seb doesn't understand why Anna is helping them but she doesn't know herself. She can't see those little kiddies struggling though, and sends Seb upstairs with them to put them in a bubble bath. Faye gets back, having been at the garage avoiding her mother. There are two very surprised faces when Seb and two freshly scrubbed little'uns come in for their tea. Anna has to use all her maternal excuses to talk Kevin round. He's sure they're in for trouble and they probably are.

Gary comes back to surprise Sarah and that he did, bearing gifts, expensive ones. He tells Sarah he's not going to go back to Ukraine and ignores calls from Joe. He still seems kind of twitchy, though. Later, in the cafe, he gives Anna the gifts for she and Faye, protesting that he's only tired. But Izzy knows him well. She also has bad news. Jake needs speech therapy, it's why he isn't making friends and gets frustrated easily. Therapy is not cheap if you go private unless he goes back to Ukraine.

The reason Gary seems a bit high strung comes out in the pub when Joe shows up. He insinuates that Gary was a bit thrown after "what happened" and Gary downgrades it to a "bit of a wobble" so it doesn't seem like this Ukraine gig is quite as safe as he keeps telling his women. Sounds very much like Gary had jacked in the job after a bad experience but now, due to the financial burden of Jake's therapy, he wants back in and assures Joe he can handle it. Joe's reluctant but says ok and gives him one more chance.

Gary decides to take Sarah out but David reckons it's about more than just "Happy to see you Darling" and Gary admits he's not quitting the job. Sarah has to work but Gary gets frustrated and thinks she should quit because they don't need the money. David continually interjects with typical David sarcasm. He's not helping the situation much. Gary is disappointed that Sarah won't submit to his will so she does, saying she'll have to get someone to cover her shift, not five minutes after telling him she doesn't want her employers thinking she's flaky. That ship has sailed.

I guess Sarah found someone to cover her shift because she and Gary are in the Bistro and he seems bent on having a heavy drinking night. He started with champagne and is moving on to tequila. He tries to talk her into a night in a hotel but she has responsibilities. He gets sulky and a bit aggressive and decides to go into town himself to let off steam.

Yasmeen is undertaking to train David the Dog and seems to be taking a shine to him. Cathy reminds her she has to give the dog back to David and horrified to discover the dog wee-ed in her slippers. Yasmeen is really pleased with the dog but Cathy is not pleased with the dog hair over everything. She thinks Yasmeen has to give the dog back but Yasmeen is insistent on making sure a lesson is learned even when Cathy tries to get her sympathy for the children missing their pet. It doesn't work and it's clear Yasmeen is besotted with the dog and doesn't want to give it up.

She does try to take him back but says the dog has become attached to her. She tries to persuade David into letting her keep the dog. David's solution is to test the dog to see who he goes to out on the street. They each try to lure him for a few minutes but the dog sits on the cobbles and doesn't move one way or the other so David the person gets fed up and scoops him up. It's his dog after all. That big buy is still lurking around the corner and this time Shona catches a look and runs across.

This is Dane, her ex and Clayton's father. He realizes that Clayton doesn't know his mother is with the husband of the woman he killed. Sounds like Dane has come around and will be wanting some of that money.

Kirk establishes that Eva will be back tomorrow and is running Maria ragged on errands far and wide. So far and wide that she can't pick up Liam. Kirk tells her he'll try to shift one of his deliveries but Aidan promises to get Liam himself and look after him until Maria gets back. and when she does, she's not pleased that Aidan has Liam.

Shona stayed over with David seeing as the kids have had a sleepover at Audrey's. He keeps complaining how quiet the house is. Later, when she's working a shift at the cafe, David comes in, still complaining about the quiet house. She thinks he's missing the dog but he denies it. Well, a little. You do get used to them around. She's working in the cafe and doesn't take a call when her phone rings. Maria walks in, fed up with all her wedding planning duties and calling Eva "Diva". David questions her relationship with Will, is he not the perfect man? Not really, Maria says he blows hot and cold and she doesn't know where she stands with him a lot of the time. Maybe she should straighten her hair and wear heavy eye liner? Kirk comes in and Maria finds out that Aidan picked up Liam and she's angry.

When she gets home, she finds Aidan tied up and Liam shooting things at him! She gives Aidan an ear bashing. He reckons she's got a funny way of showing she's over him. All she can think of is accusing him of needing to get over himself. He reminds her that he's marrying Eva. Point to Aidan, I think. Maria takes Liam to the Bistro so she can talk to Michelle about the breakup with Robert. Michelle keeps to the party line and doesn't tell Maria it's all an act though she does say appearances can be deceptive.

Eileen's hungover and convinced she made a fool of herself but Phelan's up with the birds getting ready to go to "Inverness". Eileen is still anxious to start working on the house and he manages to put her off going round, for now. But later, she talks about the renovations with Nicola and they decide to go have a look at the house, at least the outside.

Could they make that cellar look any scuzzier? Phelan arrives to fetch Andy who's very, very grateful. He's looking forward to starting somewhere new. Phelan hands him 200 euros. In a rather ironic and nasty trick, the fake passport name is Gavin, harking back to when Andy was pretending to be Michael's son Gavin. What a great touch! Phelan says he's going to miss Andy, or at least miss the sounding board. Andy promises not to breathe a word. You can see the desperation fairly vibrating off him. Phelan ties his hands behind his back just for now.

Poor Andy can barely walk but Phelan loads him in the back of the van in the dark, poor lad. Such a fleeting glimpse of the sun! The air must be fresher, at least. They zip along a back road, Phelan driving far too fast and he loses control of the van. It crashes and Andy is buffeted about in the back. He manages to kick the back doors open and fall out into the sunshine. Phelan is slumped over the steering wheel with a bit of blood on his head. Andy frays at his ropes against a tree to get free but then pulls Phelan's phone out of his pocket to call an ambulance. The problem is he doesn't know where they are for one thing and realizes this is his chance to escape. He fetches the passport and runs off into the woods. Phelan's eyes open.

Andy runs as Phelan follows him quietly. Andy's making a lot of noise so it isn't difficult to follow him. Phelan catches up and Andy just stands there. Meanwhile, Eileen and Nicola are at the old house and it turns out that the door was left ajar! Sloppy. Is the jig up? They creep in while Andy is crawling away from his jailer. Turns out the accident was a test and he's failed. I don't understand why Andy doesn't kick him but he doesn't and as Phelan helps him up, he punches him in the face. Andy goes down hard. Eileen and Nicola have had a look upstairs and through the main floor and are about to try the cellar door using tools to unlock it just as Phelan pulls into the driveway and sees Nicola's vehicle.

They are mucking with a screwdriver at the lock and Phelan comes in and scares them. What's he doing there? He's supposed to be in Inverness. He pretends he got the dates wrong. He gives them a bollocking for being in the unsafe house and sends them home with promises of taking them out for their tea though he is a bit taken aback to find out he'd left the door unlocked. He hustles Andy back down into the cellar and forces him to chain himself back to the wall. Phelan shouts at Andy for not sticking to the deal. He doesn't trust him so what is he going to do with him? Good question. Rock, meet hard place.

Wednesday 13 September

Whoops I signed off on Sunday evening not expecting to be back until Friday completely forgetting that Annie is away on holiday in the sunshine and I am doing an extra episode plus I will be doing both on Friday! And next week there will be two Wednesday episodes, so we really could do with some additional writers on the roster - if you can help then please get in touch.

This is episode 9248. The writer this evening was Mark Wadlow and the director this evening was Abe Juckes. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.

Eva returns and is greeted by Adam who notes her new luggage which apparently contain new clothes from Paris. Meltdown for Aidan's credit card as she has bought a couture wedding gown. Adam has something much bigger lined up. He is following up one of Eva's leads. Maria is also pleased to see Eva back. Aidan also appears.

Gary arrives, with hidden flowers, at the Platts to see Sarah. David and Shona are off to the Bistro. Gary and Sarah are soon snogging. She wants to know what he was doing until 4 this morning (according to Izzy). Sarah has to go to work - she tells him to chill out and she will be back later. He is not getting any.

At Pat's yard Nicola is getting an earful from Pat over offender management as she does not know about Seb's problems. Eileen invites Nicola for tea but she has a meeting. She slams her cuppa down so hard the tea splashes out.

Luke, Alya, Kate and Imogen are off to Cloud 99 - a new club but Rana makes an excuse not to join them. Rana is also avoiding future invitations.

Norris is holding the line to a supplier as Rita has missed placing an order. Norris tells Gemma that Rita has to go for some tests. Norris is more worried about the final of the Mr and Mrs competition and goes off to work with Mary. Gemma helps Rita with the order and also gets an admission that Rita only told the doctor about her sleeping problem as she does not believe she has a memory problem and does not need Norris and Gemma fussing around her.

Matthew Singh the Underworld customer is at Adam's office. Matthew wants his own production facility and Adam is offering access to Underworld supplier details, costings, prices and profit margins. Todd returns unexpectedly and hangs around outside to hear the discussion. Matthew bites.

Apparently according to Johnny talking to Jenny, in the Rovers, business at Underworld is not good as they have lost some customers recently. They need to throttle back on spending slightly. Luckily Rita is hosting the hen do tomorrow then! Todd comes into the Rovers and asks Sarah about her problem - Gary is acting weird - twitchy and edgy. Todd tells her to go - or he will in her place if Gary is splashing the cash. When Adam comes into the Rovers he gives Todd a cover story about Matthew planning a large takeover. In a booth Eileen tells Pat he needs to handle Nicola with a little more care and urges him to ring her. He thinks she needs to see the real Pat. Eileen knows he is a big softie.

Gary is in a club and the pretty girl next to him has her card declined. So he pays for Nicola's drink just before she goes off to take a call. Of course Luke and the rest are in the same club. Luke knocks over Nicola's drink. Gary grabs Luke and there is a bit of a tussle. He refuses to join the group as he fine on his own. A little later Gary joins the gang of four and apologises to Luke. He assures them he is OK. He rejoins Nicola and offers to get her a replacement drink. She refuses and counsels Gary against another scotch. Finally Gary comes clean and admits he is stressed. And Nicola has broken up with her boyfriend. And he is not coming after all to try and sort it out. She fells stressed and Gary asks if it is more stressful than holding a gun to someone's head?

After the break Nicola asks if Gary is in the army? He explains and says he lives in the country and it is normally dead cushy. He tries to play down the dangerous side. And tells a story about his time Helmand but when he is back from Odessa he cannot eat or sleep properly as his worries have returned. Nicola tells him he needs professional help. He then explains his complicated family, girl-friend, ex and a son who needs speech therapy. He has to return. Nicola's phone goes and we know it is Pat who wants to see her. Call ended she thanks Gary for the drink. He tells her she is a good listener. She goes.

Michelle is serving Will who refers to Rich's case tomorrow - he is going to plead guilty. At the table David observes that Maria and Will hardly seem to be into each other. Shona lets slip she knows about Maria's entanglement with Aidan.

Eva is covering Sarah's bar duties and Johnny tells her about the lost customers. She exchanges knowing glances with Adam. Maria and Will come in - she is complaining they have not spoken to each other all evening. Will asks her if he is wasting his time. It bugs Maria that he is still friendly with Michelle. He suggests they speak tomorrow. She agrees. He goes and Maria observes to Adam that he seemed pleased Eva had returned. Just friends despite what Maria thinks says Adam.

Luke and the girls walk into the Bistro and chat to Zeedan and Rana. Apparently it is too trendy! Aidan was shouting after Kate as he needs a favour - Kenny and his dad cannot make the wedding, so he is hoping Kate will stand in as best man! Aidan has to tell Jenny she is losing a bridesmaid. Zeedan tells the gang of four that he and Rana should join them on their next outing. Apparently they are off out tomorrow night - so could be a triple date. Rana does not seem at all keen on her face but her mouth is in agreement.

Maria follows Adam out of the Rovers and Adam calls Maria and Aidan vain and self centered. Adam feels sorry for Eva - she is pregnant by a cheating rat fiance! He threatens to tell Eva but Maria does not want that. Adam agrees for the baby and tells Maria to stay out of his way.

Gary meets Sarah outside Number 8 and Gary apologises for earlier. Nicola gets out of a cab and Sarah knows she is Pat Phelan's long lost daughter. Sarah goes to get her coat and Gary goes over to Nicola. Gary says he would never have told Nicola anything earlier if he had known. He never wants to talk to her again and asks her to keep away from him. Nicola is stunned by Gary's vehemence.

Friday 15 September

These are episodes 9249 and 9250. The writer this evening was Jonathan Harvey and the director was Abe Juckes. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.

Jenny is getting ready for her hen do - when Johnny gets news that he has lost another customer, Titan's Tunics. He suspects that Matthew Singh is behind this. Johnny teases Jenny that the stag do are going to a lap dancing club and she almost falls for it. She says if they do she will have his bits for earrings!

Eva is on Project Revenge and wants Jenny, Kate and Maria to get just a hint of the humiliation she has felt. Preparing for the party with Toyah and Eva, Leanne does ask if Eva might be taking it all a bit far. Eva gets Maria to take a photo of the ultrasound of the baby to Aidan. When she does Aidan makes it clear she is to stay clear of him - he loves Eva.

At the factory we hear Rich is sentenced to 12 months and led by Gina the girls are testing Sally as there is still a hole where Sally's policies should be. Meanwhile Gina is also working on "Buzzer the Bee for Mayor" and shows Kirk some flyers she has prepared. At the Bistro Kate takes a call from her sister Carla. She is obviously staying in touch! Carla has sent a huge box - of what? Johnny refuses to wear it.

Maria has a brainwave and tells David and Shona that she could expose Aidan at the altar. Shona counsels against as she will come off worst. Women always do.

Sally has been researching snacks - they are not good for bipolarism according to one school of thought. Sally thinks Rosie, who has dressed up for the hen do, looks like a porn star which pleases Rosie - the latter cannot imagine going to a school of thought and spending all day just thinking.

At the Rovers a double Hen Do happens when Rita, Jenny and Gemma join Eva's party as Eva canceled her future m-i-l's booking at Guadeloupe - a swanky restaurant. Legs galore as Sarah, Maria, Rosie and Gemma all complete to show most leg (Rosie wins). Rita is not looking at all well and goes for a sit down. Two males turn up to strip and Jenny is getting more and more upset. Maria arrives and gets a big hug from Eva and publicly called her best mate. Thereafter Shona sticks closely to Maria's side as Maria is looking pretty uncomfortable. Eva announces it is a free bar on Aidan - which is news to Toyah and Leanne. Imogen (who cried off earlier), Rana, Alya and Kate are all at the party. A game is played - neck a shot if you have done what is written on the card. Maria gets told to do it as she has slept with a mate's partner and at least three instances are paraded - Toyah's boyfriend, Tracy's Charlie and stealing Marcus from Sean! Eva observes that Maria has a bit of a track record. Later Maria tells Shona that she has decided to say nothing at the wedding. Eva brings out a pinata doll and insists Maria has first go, but the supplier has filled it with chocolate milk instead of milk chocolates and Maria gets completely covered.

Sarah cannot let Nicola into the private party as she collects glasses outside the Rovers. Gary comes to say his farewells as he heads back to Odessa stressing that both of them need to avoid Nicola who has gone to EIleen's house.

The planned triple date of the youngsters gets canceled - Zeedan is working and the others are off to the hen do. Rana's problem with Imogen and Kate intensifies when they mount a very public display of affection in the Rover's yard. Not surprisingly Kate then calls Rana homophobic. Rana denies it saying she has been to gay bars with Kate in the past. Kate then reminds Rana about the pdas that she and Zeedan indulged in when first together. Rana storms away from the other girls. Kate later repeats the allegation to Zeedan who protects his wife. Later still Rana admits to Zeedan that Kate might be right. Her parents strong homophobic beliefs are more ingrained than she thought. [Given her history Rana has been shown to rebel against her heritage and something about this does not feel quite right at the moment].

Gemma keeps getting Rita to make out cheques during the evening to pay for the meal which the girls did not have at Guadeloupe. Jenny is suspicious and thinks Gemma is ripping Rita off, although the cheques are always payable to Jenny. Gemma eventually confronts Rita, alongside Rosie, showing her the four cheques all written in a couple of hours. Rita shouts at her for messing with her head and then collapses in the corner of the booth. Rana tends to Rita before an ambulance takes Rita to hospital where Gemma explain events to the medics as Jenny listens. Gemma voices her fear that Rita has dementia and Jenny shouts at Gemma for not involving her. Gemma did try as she points out. Tests and a CT scan are actioned. Jenny suddenly realises that Gemma means it and it may be serious.

The stag do makes it to the Bistro - Nesta Tables (Johnny), Ada (Aidan), Kirkina and Dev as pantomime dames - courtesy of Carla! Buzzer the Bee will be the first cross dressing mayor! After some support by the other stags plus some real support from Gina - there is social media campaign in progress and Gina promises to help with policies and showing him the web enthusiasm for the Bee as Mayor Kirk finally agrees to stand. (I thought you had to be councilor before becoming mayor but perhaps it is different up North).

Leanne sends Maria into the back room to clean herself up from the milk chocolate episode - as she goes Eva is almost suppressing her evil face. In the back room Maria knocks over a box and out topples a lot of ultrasound pictures, including one which has been cut up showing the name of the real mother - not Eva. Maria realises she has been deceived and that Eva is not pregnant. When she emerges from the back room the party is over. Maria says she will not be at the wedding as Liam is ill. Shona takes the distressed Maria home. Leanne then spells it out to Eva that she has won - Maria is not going to the wedding because she has been humiliated - game over. Leanne tells Eva she has gone too far.

Aidan arrives in his finery and takes Eva to Maxeem's bench to tell her how much he loves her. And he gives her a locket watched by Adam across the Street and Maria from her window above. Aidan has realised how important commitment is! He gets Eva to come home with him. He really does love her and they go to bed. Eva's phone rings - Adam is trying to contact her.

At the hospital Rita assures Jenny and Gemma that she is fine and tries to send them back to the party. Rita is very distressed - she is everything she never wanted to be. She does not want to be a burden and she hates being in hospital. She asks them to be friends and Jenny nods. Rita is going to a ward and the consultant will see her in the morning. Rita is definitely very scared - her mum went into hospital and never came out. The camera shows the ceiling passing above her as Rita is wheeled to the ward. Gemma and Jenny go hand in hand to find a waiting room and Jenny is not even thinking about her wedding. Rita prays to God for help.

Roll credits

And if you are not in tears now you need to see it if you can.

No more from me this evening as it is time for bed. Hopefully I will not be back until Friday next week.

Monday 18 September

Written by Damon Alexis-Rochefort Directed by John Anderson
Part Two written by Carmel Morgan, Directed by John Anderson

Today is the day of the double wedding but we start off not knowing if either couple will end up married. Eva's spent the night with Aidan and it seems like she might be wavering. She finds out Maria isn't coming to the wedding which takes a bit of the sting out of the full extent of her plans. Then she tries to get Adam to back off but he is determined and insinuates that Aidan is just using her, re the night before so she ends up handing over the keys to the kingdom to Adam to pass on to Matthew Singh. Just as Leanne is trying to talk her out of her revenge, Aidan comes in to get his phone charger (she's not in her wedding dress yet so it's still safe). He's all sweetness and love after telling her first that Maria isn't coming. Toyah is almost as determined as Maria that the plan go through I think, and Eva is pulling up her resolve again, much to Leanne's disapproval, so much disapproval, in fact, that she's not coming to the wedding, either. Ouch.

*But Then* she's thrown for a major loop when, after Kate tells Aidan an Aesop tale about doing the right thing, confesses everything to Eva and I do mean everything. Name, dates, you name it, he's told her. He begs forgiveness and tells her he'll be waiting but understands if she decides not to marry him. what's a girl to do? She confides in Toyah that she forgives Aidan but she'll tell him about the non-baby later. She even tries to call off Adam but he's already given the keys to a team of guys that are cleaning the place out. She's decided to walk down that aisle in any case. Later, Adam watches Rosie's social media feed of the wedding, looking regretful.

Meanwhile, Maria has changed her mind again and she shows up with her overnight case in hand at the beautiful country mansion that is the venue. Maybe she's hoping that when Aidan learns the truth, he'll sweep her up in his arms and carry her to the honeymoon suite, I don't know but we'll find out soon enough. It's clear she is determined that she's going to expose Eva's schemes now that she realizes that Eva isn't pregnant.

Toyah claps eyes on Maria and knows there's going to be trouble. She tracks her down and manages to lock her in the bathroom of the bridal room but Maria is so determined that she manages to escape, all her hollering alerting one of the staff. She gets to the wedding room before the pronouncing of husband and wife and interrupts the ceremony. Maria tells Aidan the wedding is a sham. She doesn't care that Aidan confessed. She has the fake scan and outs Eva's fake pregnancy. Looks like Aidan's going to have a broken heart, too. Eva's revenge is going to crumble to ashes in her mouth.

Will manages to attach himself to Michelle for the wedding but before that, he is seen hiding in plain sight following her in his car. He sees her to going to the prison where she's seeing Robert, that fella she's supposed to be split from. He also puts a white rose on her car which freaks her out because she always puts a white rose on the beach when she visits Ruairi whose ashes are scattered there. She thinks the stalker knew this and though it doesn't seem like Will knew, he is there to comfort her and probably thinking this was a lucky coincidence. He takes her home where she's had a lie down apparently, and has missed Aidan's wedding. She wants to get to the reception at least. He's stunned when he finds out that Michelle and Robert aren't actually split up. Rats! Foiled again! She's determined to get to the reception though wants a drink in the Rovers first.

We join Mary and Norris at the television station at the final of the Mr and Mrs contest. Here we meed Colin who used to be a newsagent who's very good at remembering details, pompously refers to himself in the third person, and lost his shops to his ex-wife in a divorce. He ruefully tells Mary they've been turned into yogurt shops. Mary is quite excited to be on radio, never having the opportunity up to now though her mother did get to appear in a game show dressed in some sort of ludicrous milkmaid outfit. Colin seems to have taken a shine to the Cole couple, impartiality obviously not being part of the competition. Norris is put on the spot at one point but manages to get the correct answer. Possibly that was an act after being given the hint.

Gemma and Jenny have spent a long night in hospital waiting while Rita sleeps and the MRI results are processed. But in the morning, Rita goes missing, having walked out of her room unseen. Gemma gets more and more (loudly) wound up with worry resulting in what is probably the line of the night, "How do you lose a patient? It's a human being! It's not as if it were sunglasses or your virginity!" delivered with exactly the right amount of worry and frustration at the top of her voice! They find her singing with an oldtimer who is playing some of the classic wartime tunes, tunes she'd have been very familiar with back in the day. She might be over 80 and ill but by heck she's still got a set of pipes! Jenny and Gemma find her, are gentle with her but heartbroken when Rita refers to herself as Littlewood and seems firmly attached in the past for the moment. She doesn't even know who Jenny is. They lead her back to her room.

Johnny has agreed to postpone the wedding but later, after Rita seems to be more herself and extracts a promise that he'll keep an eye on Gemma, just in case, she sends Gemma on an important errand. She has gone to get the wedding dress and since the traffic is gridlocked, Gemma made some calls and it seems like she must have pulled some strings to get the bride and groom to the venue for their turn at the vows but we don't know what this is. Gemma stays with Rita when the doctor comes to tell her that there's a small tumour on her brain and that's what is causing all the memory and confusion. They want to operate as soon as possible and will schedule it in the next few weeks. They don't know if it's malignant and the surgery is risky in itself. Rita is shocked to the core. It might be cancer. Gemma is gutted but Rita tells her not to cry until there's something to cry about.

Wednesday 20 September

It is the aftermath of the wedding and the news that Eva is not pregnant. She says she thought she was. She then confesses she knew for some time that Aidan was sleeping with Maria. She accuses Maria, as her best friend, of sleeping with her boyfriend. Aidan storms out of the ceremony. Toyah goes to comfort Eva. Rosie says that if anybody cheated on her, they would die!

Gemma is talking to Rita in hospital. Gemma suggests she phones Jenny, but Rita doesn't want to spoil her special day. She hopes she will be going home soon anyway. Rita tells Gemma that she reminds her of Alec Gilroy. Of course Gemma doesn't know who Alec was. Rita tells him he was always trying money-making schemes, but he would always manage to cheer her up. She says she couldn't trust him though and reckons that half the people she fell in love with let her down at some stage. She thinks she probably fell in love with the wrong fellas. She said she had a few in her time, but not as many as Elsie Tanner. She is visibly upset as she says she hates getting old. She says that her and Mavis used to be great pals, but now they only swop birthday and Christmas cards. Gemma suggests she go to visit her Mavis, but Rita says she can't visit those that have died, like Len, Fred, Alf or Tina. She also says that she married Ted who also had a brain tumour. She really loved him. Gemma tries to reassure her that it isn't the same. Gemma pledges to stay with Rita.

Outside the wedding ceremony, Maria is talking to Kirk and Beth. She asks her when she found out about the baby scam. Maria says yesterday. Eva comes over and calls her. Maria says she is not scared of Eva. The next thing Eva pushes her into the fountain, and it ends up with a water fight as they are both throwing water at each other!

In the Rovers, Audrey and Ken are together. Michelle is getting a drink for Will and asks Leanne who is at the bar, why she isn't at her sister's wedding. Leanne tells her to mind her own business!

Jenny comes in on the back of a motorcycle ridden by a ‘hairy biker' and calls out to Eva and Maria to stop as it is supposed to be a wedding and not a circus! Kate tells them what has happened. Johnny asks her where Aidan is, she says she doesn't know and he isn't answering his phone. Johnny says he is not going to chase after him. He decides as everybody is there they ought to go ahead with the wedding. As Rita is not able to walk Jenny down the aisle, Sally offers.

At the radio interview, it is Norris' turn to answer questions about Mary.

Michelle confronts Leanne and accuses her of knowing about Eva's false pregnancy.

Back at the wedding reception, Eva goes to her room, soaking wet. Aidan is already there and tells her that it is the honeymoon suite and says she is in the wrong room.

At the radio station, Norris wants a break to answer his phone. The presenter won't allow it and threatens to disqualify them if he answers the phone.

Johnny and Jenny's wedding is going ahead. Sally brings Jenny down the aisle. Back in the honeymoon suite, Eva is telling Aidan that she still loves him. She confesses she was trying to hurt him. Eva accuses him that it was the baby he wanted not her.

At the hospital, Rita is calling out for Gemma. She had been having trouble with the vending machine! She tells Rita she has rung round and others have come to see her. Audrey, Ken, Mary and Norris.

Johnny is saying his vows to Jenny and says he is luckiest man alive. Jenny says she has been through dark places in her life, and she has come through it all. Johnny has made her feel special. Then Johnny says it doesn't feel right without Rita and he decides they will go to the hospital.

Aidan and Eva are still arguing. Aidan says he told her the truth before the wedding, so she ought to have told him the truth about the pregnancy. He says she can shout that she loves him from the rooftops and he still wouldn't believe her. He walks out of the room.

Somebody has rung Michelle to tell her that Johnny and Jenny are getting married in the hospital. She tells Will, and he suggests that she comes back to his place.

Eva is leaning out of the window and Aidan asks what she is doing. She says she is going to shout it from the rooftops that she loves him. She pleads with him to marry her. She pushes herself further out of the window and almost slips ... she drops her shoe. Aidan tells her not to move and he is coming up.

Will Eva fall out of the window (will she fall out of her wedding dress?!!) ? Will Rita survive to see Johnny and Jenny get together ?

Well Richard will be taking up the story shortly, as tonight is the first of our extra episodes. We now have Coronation Street on twice on a Wednesday night making six episodes in all.

Martin Rosen

Hello again. This is the first of the additional sixth episode per week and so far we have no permanent person to provide the updates. Can you help us please? If so please make contact as otherwise we may not be able to keep this up!

This is episode 9254. The writer for this episode was Joe Turner and the director was John Anderson. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.

Rosie emerges from the hotel to see Eva's shoe on the ground and Eva hanging on to the drainpipe outside the honeymoon suite window and soon all of the guests are also watching Eva teetering on the brink. Aidan is trying to talk Eva back into the room - but she is frozen by fear.

The guests all tell her not to jump - but in reality she wanted to shout her love for Aidan from the rooftops! She puts them right. Ever practical Tyrone gets a dust sheet from his car and the guests open it so that they can catch Eva if she slips. Rosie sort of holds the sheet with one hand but has her champagne glass and phone in her other hand!

Aidan starts to slowly talk her down and she relaxes and lowers herself she snags the dress on some spikes sticking out. Eva tells him NOT to tear the dress, so he has to undo it. They tell the watching / catching guests not to look (she is wearing stockings) - but they have no choice. Eva knows the she will go straight through the sheet, so Aidan unlaces her and She falls backwards into the room landing on top of Aidan whilst the dress drops onto the sheet below. He saved her life.

While all that was going on Will had taken poor Michelle back to his new expensive pad. He thinks about adding something to her wine but decides against. He gets very creepy. And pours more wine whilst she admits that she is back with Robert. Will wants her to move in. He gets creepier. He reminds her of recent events. He gets creepier still. He says if she is with him then no-one will be able to get at her. And Robert being inside may change his mind - people do, look at Maria. Then he tries to kiss her. Oops he misinterpreted the signals - which she had not been sending. He plays the poor me card. He gets more wine. She looks for a CD and knocks over all the photos he has been taking of her. Realisation wipes itself across Michelle's face like being slapped with a wet fish. Will serves more wine but Michelle summons a taxi and cannot get away fast enough. Will keeps being creepy trying to get her to stay, he just wants to look after her. She has to chase the taxi (Streetcars?) but it turns up in the nick of time, Will becomes creepier still wanting a call when she gets home.

Meanwhile at the hospital Rita is surrounded by Norris, Mary, Gemma, Ken and Audrey. Mary and Norris took the call rather than answer the question and were disqualified. Then an excited Jenny rushes into the room followed by Johnny, Sally, Kate and Billy. They explain they have brought the wedding to Rita (I am in tears again writing this)! Gemma gets two minutes from the nursing team and bemoans the lack of her bridesmaid dress (she is still wearing the silver hotpants from the hen night!). Sally once again is maid of honour as she delivers Jenny (given the past history between Sally and Jenny this is a wonderful turnaround, nice touch from the team). Billy does the fastest wedding ever! Norris loses the rings, but finds them again! He is the Weakest Link, Rita announces! Rings on, Billy pronounces them married and they kiss. Everyone bar Gemma goes and Gemma tells Rita she was as surprised as Rita when they arrived.

Back at the hotel Eva has a nice fluffy dressing gown and Aidan sits down to talk. She asks him about falling in love with two women. He says Eva was always the one - but he cannot forget the hurt she has caused and also wanting to wreck both wedding days.

A beautifully restored and maintained Sunbeam Alpine sports car arrives on the Street - and Colin Callen emerges to look at the Kabin. Sarah is passing and explains Rita owns the flat above but is in hospital. In the background the Underworld van and a white van drive away from the back of the Underworld factory, Adam spots them - it is 4pm.

At the Rovers Maria gets a bit of a telling off and they are hoping that Jenny and Johnny went off all right. She does admit she makes more mistakes than most. Sarah announces that the Jenny/Johnny wedding happened and the drinks are on Johnny. Gemma rushes into the Rovers and tells them to welcome the happy couple. So she is finally not Jenny Bradley, but Connor. They can drink the pub dry - he is paying! At the bar Sean predicts some big changes at the factory now that Jenny is part of management. Starting tomorrow says Sean. Adam is watching the general happy atmosphere with a knowing face.

Aidan is reassuring Johnny that he is talking to Eva and she sends Adam a text message thanking him for pulling the plug on his plan. With both calls ended it seems like Aidan and Eva might have a future.

Colin comes into the Rovers and makes Norris a cash offer to buy the Kabin and to form a new string of newsagents. Norris turns him down flat.

Johnny and Jenny leave the party and go to Underworld where he says she will be part of the team and he wants to carry her across the threshold - after all they did their courting there, she recalls the store room floor - she reminds him of the MS but he dismisses it and carries her in and welcomes her to her future. They look around, no machines, no materials, no stores, an empty shell and pigeons taking up residence as a large chunk of the roof is missing.

Roll credits

Huge roller coaster Monday and tonight. We were in tears here over Rita, killing ourselves laughing at the fountain and aghast at Creepy Will. And Adam's destructive attack on the factory has gone far further than I had guessed. Is this the end for Underworld and the Connors?

I will be back very shortly with Friday (well once it has been broadcast and in fact due to other commitments that will probably be several days late).

Friday 22 September

Hello again. I am covering both parts again tonight. You will get a double dose of Karen when I take a holiday later this year.

These are episodes 9255 and 9256. The writers were Jayne Hollinson (part 1) and David Isaac (part 2) and the director was Ian Bevitt. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.

We open on the Street with Yasmeen collecting signatures against plans to close the local maternity unit from the factory girls as they head to work. She tells them there will be a meeting in cafe tonight. They tell Yasmeen that Eva is NOT having a baby and Yasmeen tears into the cheating Aidan as a reminder of her own experiences. Kirk admits he is pretty upset with Maria as well. She expresses the hope to Sally that it will not descend into a slanging match when the two mayoral candidates speak.

They are surprised to find blue police tape surrounds the crime scene and there is a sign saying that the factory is closed. Alya emerges to explain that the place has been stripped. They are all worried about getting paid and having jobs. Alya cannot answer their questions.

At the flat bad luck comes in 3 observes Jenny to Kate , Rita ill, Eva's antics and now the factory. Johnny's honeymoon is off - he is on the phone to all and sundry. Johnny tells her to concentrate on Rita and Jenny has to take her some clean clothes. Johnny cannot get hold of Aidan - where is he?

Aidan and Eva are at the hotel and planning to restart their relationship. They say they have forgiven each other, there will be no more secrets and no more lies and turn their phones off so they cannot be reached and decide to have a day out, long walk and lunch and avoid the Street till later.

Liz is still hearing from Lenny Schnitzer who scammed her over the vapes a few weeks back. She joins Rana in the cafe and knows that Lenny is 48, apparently he fancies Liz who is "Patricia Fernandez". Rana suggests Liz meets him to get a sample of his other wares to prove that it is all a scam. And it should not be too dangerous if she does it in a public place and if Liz pretends to fancy him it might flush him out. Moira appears and chases Rana back to work as she has an appointment. Liz congratulates Moira on her amazing dedication to work as she memorises the day's appointments (in case of a power failure). Moira does not think that anyone has ever paid her such a nice compliment (Liz did not mean it as a compliment of course); not even her husband has ever said anything so nice to her before. [Watch out for the pasta tuna bake everyone]. She offers Liz an iced finger but Liz also returns to work. Later at the medical centre Rana, posing as "Patricia", writes the email and sends a sexy photo of Liz to Lenny; Zeedan warns it is too risky as Moira appears asking for Liz - when hearing she has gone for lunch Moira suggests they should all eat and work at the same time!

Jenny is checking on Rita who awaits being discharge. Colin Callen of NewsCo visits Rita in hospital, bringing her chocolates and encourages Jenny to leave. He talks to Rita about her ambitions, the dreams she has never realised - she wants to go travelling and he can help - Colin offers to buy Rita's flat so that she can go wherever she wants. When Norris arrives he is put out about Rita selling the flat but it seems to be a done deal. Then he starts the same line on Norris - the potential for travelling and doing things for which Norris has no time stood behind the counter of the Kabin. Rita want to fulfill her dreams and be able to sing with Edith Piaf "je ne regrette rien"

According to the policeman there is no sign of a break in at the factory and Johnny fails to give the employees proper answers; they can see they will soon be going to the food bank, not Freshco. The police are aware the business was in decline and are thinking it might be an insurance fraud. Adam wandering past assures the factory staff that the insurers will cough up as Johnny is bound to be properly covered; they can trust him because he is a solicitor! It gets worse for Johnny when the bank phones as the business has gone over the overdraft limit.

Will is looking for Michelle but she is not at the Bisto and neither Toyah nor Steve give him the time of day. Will has a real go at Steve for doing the dirty deed with Leanne behind Michelle's back.

Tim makes lunch whilst Sally works on her campaign. Gina comes in and gets a lesson in how to ensure a candidate can stand in an election - Kirk needs a proposer, seconder and eight other supporting signatories. Gina is suddenly aware that she has a lot to learn! Sally also suggests that Gina should dress up as a flower when campaigning with Kirk - Tim mischievously adds that Kirk could stick his tongue down her throat but the joke does not work!

Michelle revisits the bar from which she was abducted some weeks ago. The barman does not remember Will but the over keen Geordie waitress confirms that Will was there that evening and that he did not buy a drink. Michelle then goes to the police and names Will Chatterton as the party responsible for her abduction. But the evidence is not good enough for the police to act, but they do check the story with the waitress. Michelle needs to have better evidence. Michelle returns to the Bistro to find Leanne working with Steve at the bar. Steve tells her that Will was looking for her so she tears into Steve and then has a go at Leanne reminding her who is responsible for this mess. Leanne does not take kindly this as she had come to help. Michelle has decided to go to Ireland tonight for an indefinite visit. Michelle throws the customers out wanting to get people off her back.

Eva and Aidan return to the Street. She sees Adam but he does not tell her the news. Aidan goes to see Johnny who brings him up to date with the clear out at the factory and that the police believe it was an inside job. Johnny guesses that it was Eva, she is the one with an axe to grind, Aidan denies it, because they have just spent the night together and they have made up. Jenny points out that the robbery was before they kissed and made up, that the flat is in her name, Aidan's money was spent on a stupid pink car and Eva has been working in the office. Aidan has been had! Aidan goes and Johnny calls the police. Aidan storms back to Eva's flat where she is studying the damage to her wedding dress. Aidan reminds her they agreed no more lies or secrets. Aidan shouts at Eva that her plan worked and the factory and bank account have been cleaned out. He soon gets the truth out of her by asking her to swear on Ollie's life that she was not involved which she cannot do. He tells her to pack and move out. She gently reminds him it is her flat. He hopes she is enjoying her revenge. He leaves.

The police are not interested in interviewing Eva Price and imply Johnny is pulling an insurance fraud. Adam keeps an eye on proceedings. Gina asks Adam to sign as a supporter of Kirk for Mayor. Meanwhile the insurers have told Jenny that they will not be making a payment whilst a police investigation is ongoing. The police want full statements from all concerned. Johnny actually says the real person respsonsible is Aidan for not keeping his hands off Maria.

Yasmeen has been organising support for the local maternity unit. A meeting is held at the cafe with both mayoral candidates giving speeches. Roy advises Kirk to crack some jokes to put people at their ease. Tim finds time to tell Gina off, pointing out that it takes guts, determination and integrity to be involved in politics and that Gina has it all wrong - Sally is doing it because of Gina and the need to help those with mental health problems, Sal is not doing it for attention but for Gina. Tim tells Gina she should be ashamed of herself. Sally goes first with a typical politician's speech. Kirk/Buzzer the Bee gets a hugely warmer welcome from the audience. He tries to tell a joke and fails badly. Then he says that real politicians have made a mess of the country - and from working with puppies he knows a good start in life is important and that he will make sure that children have a good start in life. His pitch goes very well. Apparently the Bee costume turns Beth on! She wants to go home and make honey. Tim tells Gina that she has created a Bee monster who will devour Sally.

Lenny falls for it (Patricia / Liz has pretended she cannot do internet banking) and turns up in the Rovers. Despite a long period chatting and numerous drinks Liz has not managed to get anything on him as she is welcoming the male attention and did not remember to turn on her recorder on her phone and he is about to go when Moira walks into the Rovers. He and Liz plan another date and then he rapidly departs having seen Moira, kssing Liz's hand before going. Colin awkwardly bumps into Moira at the bar spilling his rosé all over her. To both Moira and Colin it means "Sunshine in a glass" which also makes them think of Lisbon where Moria was a travel rep. Moira refuses his offer of a share of a bottle of rosé as she is both teetotal and a married woman. Coline is insistent and she agrees to one little glass. (I wanted to know what happened once she was drunk - but we did not see any more of them).

Norris meets Mary in the Rovers and tells her he has decided to sell the Kabin. Mary observes how devoted he is to the Kabin. He and Rita have taken Colin's advice to enjoy themselves before it is too late. Mary advises against sudden change and she hopes Norris will not regret it. But Norris enumerates the downsides - early mornings, unreliable paper boys and the stress. he calls her a doom merchant. She does not respond in a friendly manner to Colin either who waves from the bar.

Aidan is looking for Kate, Rana says she is out with Imogen again and is obviously not happy about it. Aidan is not feeling all right either. He goes again.

Rita has taken up residence with Johnny and Jenny. Rita tells them the flat is being sold and she will hire a camper van and see some of the world. And she asks Gemma to be her driver, but they will not be getting guns when they go to America. Aidan comes back looking for a bed - but Rita has it! Johnny tells him to get out as it is all his fault. Adian has no choice but to go elsewhere. Johnny and Jenny were planning all sorts but Johnny is not sure about his future. Rita reminds him how recently he had been living a dream life in Spain. He was building the factory for Aidan and now he knows Aidan is unworthy. He reckons Rita is right - why have this hassle at his age? He tells Jenny that perhaps he should finish with the factory. Jenny does not look pleased.

Michelle is in the empty Bistro kitchen telling Zeedan on the phone that the Bistro is shut indefinitely. She is alone in the kitchen when Will arrives. She tells him she is going away. Michelle claims she had an argument with Robert and he was nasty to her and that is why she is upset. Will hugs her and then Leanne comes in - Leanne thinks she knows why Robert was dumped as she sees the hug and says as much, threatening to go to the prison and telling Robert! Will is nasty to Leanne but Michelle stops Leanne leaving (Leanne gives her the most awful scowl possible as well as saying she does not want to hear Michelle's lies). Michelle then gets Will to go into the bar so that she can reveal to Leanne that Will is the stalker and she begs Leanne for her help; we can see from Michelle's face how scared she is of the situation. Leanne emerges from the kitchen and tells Will it is best if he goes so they can work out running the Bistro. Michelle tells Will she is not going away and he might as well go home, confirming Leanne's comments. Will does his creepy act. He eventually goes asking Michelle to say she is safe later.

At his office Eva tears into Adam for not cancelling the break in. He tells her it was not about the money - he was doing it for her because he cares about her. They argue. Adam reckons it will blow over - the police will not be able to prove she was involved. She promises Adam that if she goes down he will go with her. He tries to give her half the money from the factory and she says she wants nothing from him, so he takes it back.

Michelle and Leanne are talking to one another again as Leanne refuses to leave Michelle alone. Michelle was surprised she did not see it. And now Michelle does not know what she is going to do. Leanne tells her that she is fed up with men ruining their lives. Will is going to regret the day he decided to mess with her and Michelle.

Roll credits

What a stunning week it has been. Absolute stunner and I hope the udpates have given a real sense of the tears being induced over Rita's health, the fun of Aidan and Eva's wedding unravelling, the joy of Jenny and Johnny getting married at Rita's bedside topped off with the really scary aspects of Will taking his glasses on and off as he goes into creepy / scary mode.

I topped off Friday evening with an Elkie Brooks concert. She still has the voice, she still has the musicians and she kept it going. An hour solid - hardly a breather between songs; 15 minute break and then back for another 45 minutes. Yes both "Pearls" and "Lilac Wine" but also "Gasolene Alley", "Nights in White Satin", "Make you feel my Love" (where Adele was shown how it should be done) plus some jazz from the time she recorded with Humphrey Littleton; towards the end "Purple Rain". If she is appearing anywhere near you then please go and see her. She has dates listed through until this time next year and does not look like giving up any time soon.

Monday 25 September

Part 1 written by Mark Burt Directed by Ian Bevitt
Part 2 written by John Kerr Directed by Ian Bevitt

Leanne brought Steve in to help Michelle and she's not happy about it but he wants to talk her into going to the police. Steve, the voice of reason, first time for that. But they need evidence. First step, get the keys. Daniel is dragged in on distraction duty though not told many details. Will arrives and Michelle lures him in perfectly, telling him she's split with Robert for real and wants him to help her sort out ideas for starting up a pub of her own. He bites, delighted.

They start to talk and Daniel does as ordered, spills water all over Will who is annoyed as expected. He goes in the gents' and Michelle steals his key and gives it to Steve to copy. They manage it and she manages to get Will's keys back to him. Michelle passes them the alarm code. She and Will leave for a nice lunch out so Leanne and Steve can search his house though Leanne worries that Michelle is on her own with Will.

At the house, Steve has trouble with the alarm code but they get in. Leanne admits to Steve that she's helping Michelle because she owes her. Leanne takes photos of all the photos that Will has of Michelle. Steve calls Leanne upstairs just at the same time Will gets a call from a neighbour concerned that someone is in his house. Oh, oh! Michelle tries to talk him out of immediate investigation but he's going so she is too, furiously texting a warning before getting in the car. Steve, meanwhile, finds a scarf that he gave to Michelle. In the box, there's a Steve and Michelle wedding photo that has been damaged. Leanne photographs it all. Steve finally gets the text but it might be too late. Leanne scrambles to put the photos back just as Will drives up.

Steve has got out of the house but Leanne has to hide. Will hides his bedside photo of Michelle as she comes running in and Michelle tries to convince Will that it's Rich that's got in to warn Will like he was warning Robert. She leads him back downstairs, pretending to be scared, with him promising to look after her. Finally he admits it was him, the one that was following her. Outside Steve is calling the police. Michelle calls him on everything he did and all he can say is he's sorry. He says he would never rape her, she knows that. But she didn't know it was him, did she? He proclaims his devotion. Upstairs, Leanne hears it all and Will catches Michelle glance up at her.

That's it. He turns. He grabs her by the heck and drags her upstairs. He throws Michelle to the floor and Leanne fights to get by him with a well placed kick. She nearly does but he grabs her foot and she tumbles down the stairs and lies there, bleeding. Michelle fights Will off and runs through the upstairs, managing to lock herself in the loo. He breaks down the door. Outside Steve is waiting for the police. Will is delusional, insisting there can still be an "Us". Steve comes in and punches Will really hard and leads her out, finding Leanne at the landing and acting like he didn't know she was there though he'd have had to jump over her body on the way upstairs.

At the police station, Michelle makes her statement. The detective does have the grace to apologize even though they didn't have enough evidence before to charge Will. Michelle is touched that Steve stayed to take her home. He tells her Leanne is ok but they're keeping her in overnight. Michelle says Will is going to be charged.

Aidan seems to have dived into a bottle and come up on a sofa somewhere. Oh, he's with Monica, Chandler and Rachel... that is.... Alya, Luke and Kate, I mean. Well, Kate is his sister after all. At the factory, Johnny tears down the hazard tape. He's feeling pessimistic, even if the factory could be rebuilt, what about the good will, the clients? Kate tries to be encouraging but when Aidan arrives, it's clear Johnny is still spitting nails. He can't even talk to his son. Sean and Izzy spy the obvious contention and decide to call a staff meeting.

They can't seem to come up with an explanation or a plan and ask Eva if she's got any insight but of course she brushes it off. Sally advises them not to panic but it's a bit late for that. Poor Eva really feels bad, listening in and knowing she's to blame. Aidan comes in the pub, exchanges painful looks with Eva but the factory workers nab him before he can leave again. They want answers and he doesn't have any to give them other than to blame Eva but doesn't go into specifics.

Sinead, Gina and Kirk join the band of workers who relay the possibility that Eva knows something but nobody wants to ask her. Todd and Adam come into the pub and finally the workers confront Eva about the factory. She doesn't give them a straight answer at first and some leave but she tells Sean she had nothing to do with the factory breakin. Adam reminds them all it will be slander if they tell people she was the one behind it. Todd is suspicious that Adam might be more involved than he's letting on.

Outside Aidan sees Maria who wants to avoid him but doesn't. She offers him a shoulder to cry on, against her better judgement. He feels bad he's hurt so many people. She thinks he'll get everything sorted in time and admits she doesn't hate him. He moves in for a snuggle and she knows he's trying to implement a back up plan since he's not got Eva anymore and she tells him to do one.

When Johnny and Jenny come in, Eva tries to serve them but Jenny gives her a mouthful. Eva slinks to the back room, Adam defends her and Toyah serves J&J herself. Todd asks Adam what this all has to do with him and Toyah has overheard the question as well.

Moira returns from lunch early because her husband cancelled. Rana sucks up with flattery. Turns out Rana is covering for Liz. Something came up, to do with that scam artist. We see Liz in the pub later and she looks nervous. Moira comes peeping around the door because she's curious about the man Liz is going to meet and he's late. Moira goes to the bar but Eva has to go to the cellar to help Sarah with something. While she's still at the bar, Lenny comes in to join Liz. Moira recognizes him and it turns out his name is Stewart, not Lenny. Well, he's well and truly stitched up now.

Moira's heartbroken. Liz advises her to get rid of him. She tries to pull herself together and goes back to work. Later, Liz relaxes at home with a glass of wine when the buzzer sounds. It's Moira with her bags. She's left her husband and is happy sleeping on the sofa, thank you very much. After all, Moira points out, leaving Stewart was all Liz's idea. what can she say after that?

Sarah leaves Gary a message and is about to help Bethany re-enroll in school. Bethany really can't be bothered. The trial is far too distracting. Sarah tells her she has to have something for her future once Nathan is convicted. But it turns out the school want her to repeat the whole year or she can't take her A levels. Bethany feels like she's going backward, not forward. Audrey has an idea. She offers Bethany an apprenticeship, one day a week in college and a job. Bethany isn't so sure. Audrey and Sarah try to encourage her.

Bethany tells Audrey she wishes she had the courage to confront Nathan in court instead of by video link and worries that the jury won't believe her. Later on, Craig comes in the salon, having been summoned. She needs a guinea pig. For a manicure. Craig goes home with long acrylic nails painted all colours. His family tease him and he explains that he helped Bethany practice. They all urge him to ask her out but he doesn't think Bethany's interested in him. They push more so he says he'll ask her to get them off his back. Bethany thanks Audrey for helping but we can tell she's being watched by someone across the road.

Wednesday 27 September

Part 1

Bethany is peering round the net curtain and sees someone dash from behind the pillar box and hide round the corner of the Kabin. She looks at the calendar and sees that she's due in court on Monday, and she seems upset.

Moira and Steve are in the kitchen of the flat, making coffee and toast. She's talking about her ex and how she was betrayed. He starts to talk about forgiveness....then she asks how many times he's been married. She's looking forward to a 'shiny new life'.

Craig is booking a table for two for lunch at the bistro and planning on asking Bethany.

Todd is in the cafe studying something on the laptop, when Billy comes in. Todd tells him he's going through the business accounts – he thinks Adam must have a money tree, or a sugar-mummy.

Over in the salon, Bethany is wondering why they have an appointment book, rather than a tablet linked to the till. Craig comes in then and asks her to lunch, on him, to celebrate her new job.

In the Rovers, Liz is talking about her lodger, but Sean isn't really paying attention, he's annoyed because Eva isn't clearing the tables, but seems to be waiting for him to do it. He also thinks she had something to do with the robbery at the factory which has put them out of work at the moment. Just then Peter and Toyah come in, it seems that Leanne has not got concussion, she's going to be allowed home from hospital, and they are off to the clinic, their surrogate is being implanted with their embryo today. "Talk about oversharing," mutters Liz. As she's leaving, Toyah turns to Sean and asks him to clear the tables, it's making the place look untidy. Eva looks round, as Sean walks towards the empty glasses. "I'll do it, hun," she says, but he says no, and does it himself, with a certain amount of attitude.

Michelle sees Steve in the street and tells her that he's going to get Leanne from the hospital. She tells him that Will is still in custody and hopes he's going to stay there for a long time.

Adam is taking delivery of a whole lot of new office furniture when Todd comes along. Adam says that it is all stock from a company that was being liquidated, and a previous law practice he worked for in Scarborough owed him some money. They paid up so he's bought the furniture.

Phelan visits Andy in the basement, he tells him about Bethany being in court next week because of what was done to her by perverts. He's a pussycat by comparison. Andy remarks that Pat doesn't enjoy playing prison guard, so what if there was a way out of it for him, so that he could walk away with his hands clean? Pat scoffs and leaves him, as Andy mutters, "I know it could be done...."

Bethany is on her way to the bistro when someone calls her name, beckoning her over. It's Mel. Bethany wants to call the police, but Mel persuades her to give her five minutes.

Sarah is pushing Harry down the Street when a taxi pulls up and Gary gets out. She's delighted to see him.

Bethany is round the corner talking to Mel, she's angry and says it's only going to be her word against Nathan, Neil and Ian. She needs Mel to help, but Mel reckons she can't or else they'll get her. Mel weeps and reckons she needs Bethany to help her, she's penniless.

Craig is in the bistro waiting for Bethany, who isn't showing up.

Gary and Sarah are in the cafe, sitting with Anna who is also delighted to see him. Nicola comes in and Anna gets up to serve her. She looks across at Gary and he glares at her. Sarah gets up and takes the baby and leaves.

Over in the Platt's house, Mel comes downstairs obviously having had a shower. Bethany has put her clothes in the washing machine. Then Bethany's phone bleeps with a text and Mel is immediately suspicious of being stitched up, but Bethany assures her it was the friend she was supposed to be meeting, wondering where she is. Mel tells her to put her phone where she can see it. Bethany gets cross then and tells her not to dare play the victim with her, she must be mad letting Mel in there. Mel tells her that she covered for Bethany with Nathan, took beatings she never knew about, often she was Nathan's punchbag. Just then Sarah comes back in and is furious to see Mel there, she was as bad as that animal Nathan. Bethany concedes that she was, sometimes. "But why? Have we ever asked ourselves that?" she says.

Nicola is sitting on the bench in the Street when Seb comes along. She tells him she's just seen her ex, holding hands with someone outside a jeweller's window.

Peter and Toyah are walking back from their clinic appointment. They see Steve standing by a taxi and Peter calls him and asks him to come for a pint, he's got some good news. Steve is huffy, he thought he was barred, so he walks away.

In the pub, there's a row going on between Eva and Sean about who was in charge, and who has done most of the work. Liz and Billy try to act as referees. Just then Toyah and Peter walk back in and Eva asks Toyah to remember that Sean is the senior barman. Peter says that Toyah has had a tough day, but Sean reckons he's had a tough day too and flounces.

Michelle is visiting Robert, and they're talking about what happened with Will. Michelle says she's made an appointment with his solicitor, they need to make them see it was a setup. Robert points out that he attacked a man, he'll just have to do his time. Michelle says she'll be wating.

Todd is just finishing a phone call when Adam comes back in. He tells Adam he's just been on the phone to the company that Adam reckoned paid him some money, but has found out that it wasn't true and wants to know where the money really came from. Just then the door opens and a client walks in, so Adam takes him into the office, asking Todd to make the tea.

Anna is telling Gary what's happened at the factory and how Izzy now has no work. Faye comes back from school and as Gary bends over to get her present out of his bag, Anna sees that his back is covered in bruises.

Over at the Platt's, Mel tells Sarah and Bethany that she's been with Nathan 10 years, and that kind of life is normal to her now. Sarah asks if she wants to go back to him and Mel says she doesn't, but Sarah doesn't think she sounds very sure. Mel says she's his barrister's dream because she's told lies and done bad things for Nathan, because she wanted him for herself. Bethany tells her that the police would protect her and persuades her to stay, at least until her clothes are dry. When she's gone upstairs, Sarah tells Bethany that it would look so bad to the police if they find out that Mel has been staying there. Bethany is sure she wants to help, deep down. Sarah thinks Mel just thinks Bethany is a soft touch, but Bethany thinks they need Mel on side, she is their only chance.

Anne Logan.

With Faye out the way, Anna demands to know the truth from Gary about his injuries. He confesses that he's a bodyguard with frequent altercations involved but insists that Sarah isn't to know.

Mel tells Sarah and Bethany that she wants to break free of Nathan but doesn't know how to. Gail and Audrey are stunned to find the girl in the house. Sarah reluctantly agrees she can stay one night while they convince her to go to the police, despite Audrey's doubts. Sarah tells Gary about Mel and cancels her night out with him.

Toyah tries her conflict-management techniques with Sean and Eva.

Nicola sees a display of short-temper between Phelan and Gary.

Todd guesses that Adam got his cash from the Underworld theft and tells him he's making his desire for revenge against the Connors and his infatuation with Eva too obvious for others to spot.

Toyah's techniques don't work so Liz steps in and gives the two a stern talking-to, which results in them making up.

Nicola tells Gary he needs to sort himself out but he's not receptive to her advice.

The Platts agree to let Mel stay with them. She expresses her gratitude.

Phelan visits Andy again who suggests that if he had something on his captive that could stop him going to the police, he could release him without any fears.

Leanne is released from hospital with no charges laid by the police for entering Will's flat. She's depressed that her daft actions shows she's a bad mother.

Billy and Todd realise Summer has been lying to them about an RE project she supposedly has. They tell the girl that they've arranged a meal with Nicola so she can question her about about the Jewish faith.

Phelan laughingly dismisses Andy's plan to substitute him with a real villain who deserves society's punishment.

Steve returns home to find that Moira has reorganised his fridge and food.

Michelle tells Leanne that Robert has made her business partner at the bistro and wants her to return as manager but she refuses, saying she has plans to stay with Stella for a while.

On her own, Mel rings Nathan in his prison cell and tells her that Bethany has fallen for their deception.

Round at the Nazirs' Yasmeen wonders what's up with Rana who is in a right state and snapping at everyone. Zee tells his grandmother that she's fallen out with Kate.

In the cafe we learn that Nicola has offered to help Todd and Billy get their own back on Summer for making up a phoney RE project. She's going to spend the evening with Summer making a traditional Friday night Jewish supper.

Sarah pops in to ask Anna if she's seen Gary. Anna advises her to go easy on him. She doesn't elaborate but warns Sarah that he's finding his new job a bit stressful.

Bethany is finally alone with Mel, giving her the opportunity to talk to her about Nathan

Out in the street, Ty sees Liz gazing longingly up at the Rovers. He tells her that they miss her behind the bar. This appears to get her thinking …

Along comes Gary who has returned from his night on the tiles. Anna gives him a piece of her mind, along with some motherly advice. She can't believe she's saying it about a member of the Platt family but she tells Gary that Sarah is the best thing that's happened to him in years and he needs to be careful he doesn't lose her.

In the Bistro, Kate's phone keeps beeping with messages from Imogen. Zee admits to Alya that he's trying to get Kate and Rana to make up so Alya suggests he could do something to help things along.

Rana meets Moira coming out of the Medical Centre and confides in her about falling out with Kate. During the conversation Rana mentions that Liz has handed in her notice. This is news to Moira but she claims she and Liz are such good friends, Liz would have found it hard to share the news.

Phelan makes his daily visit to Andy who is still trying to convince him to carry out his proposition of finding a replacement prisoner. But Phelan lists the flaws in his plan and declares that it's a fantastical idea.

Gary's been shopping. He shows Craig the ring he's bought but he's not about to propose he insists, it's just an eternity ring.

Meanwhile, Toyah is confused. Liz arrives in the Rovers to tell her that they'll have to discuss terms and conditions but the answer's yes. Apparently, someone stuck a note through Liz's door but Toyah says it certainly wasn't her.

Gary comes into the Rovers to see Sarah. He wants to apologise and ask her out for a romantic meal that evening. If I was in Sarah's shoes I'd tell him to take a running jump but she's clearly more forgiving than me and happily agrees.

Toyah asks Peter if he's offered Liz a job but he's as mystified as she is.

Bethany is still talking to Mel about Nathan. She's made her a large plate of sandwiches to soften her up before raising the subject of the court case. Bethany tells Mel that she needs her to give evidence and back up her story.

Todd and Billy deliver Summer round to Nicola for her Jewish Friday night experience. The boys tell her it will be more fun than a trip to the cinema before admitting they're not staying but are off for dinner at the Bistro.

Billy and Todd are in the Bistro and Todd decides to tell Billy that Adam was the one behind stripping out the factory. But before they can continue their conversation, Nicola rings Billy to tell them that Summer has had an accident.

Bethany is still trying to convince Mel to go to court and support her case but Mel seems very reluctant and says she doesn't think she's strong enough to face Nathan.

The evening's getting underway at the flat where Luke and Alya have been joined by Imogen, Aidan and Kate. But when Zee and Rana arrive, Kate and Rana are both horrified to see each other.

Sarah goes out into the Rovers' back yard to talk to Gary. She wants to know why he's acting so strangely and asks what's wrong. At first Gary tries to deny there's a problem but when Sarah tells him she spoke to Anna earlier and she told her he's finding the job really stressful, Gary goes ballistic. He throws over a table in his anger. Sarah admits to being really frightened.

Karen

Hello again. Only a single episode update from me today. We remain short handed - Tvor is doing doubles and we are using episodes from the Corrie wiki. If you feel you can help then please get in touch and we can share the load.

This is episode 9262. The writer this evening was Debbie Oates and the director was Mickey Jones. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.

Action commences in the yard at the Rovers where Gary is telling Sarah there is nothing wrong and he is on her case all the time. Sarah reckons something has happened - while he was away? Last night? She says she could get sacked the way he kicks off and breaks things. He dumps some money on a table as compo. Sarah knows Gary is hiding something but he refuses to answer and goes.

Bethany is trying to get Mel to see DC Leigh - but Mel has a completely different agenda. Bethany wants Mel to give evidence. Craig has come over from the Bistro to find Bethany. He knows Mel should not be there - but Craig leaves instantly. Bethany goes after Craig to talk to him. When she catches him she begs him not to tell anyone that Mel is there. He promises.

Imogen, Kate, Alya, Luke, Rana, Zeedan and Aidan are having a few drinks in the flat - but Rana can hardly bring herself to talk to Imogen and Kate has a go at her.

Gary is in the ginnel when Nicola emerges to put some rubbish out. She cannot find a bin for miserable ex-soldiers. He suggests "General Waste". Nicola reports that she turned a Friday night supper into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. She does have two bottles of wine.

Billy and Todd arrive at the hospital where Pat has taken Summer who now has her left arm wrapped in bandages. She has had two stitches. Apparently it all went wrong when Summer was carving the challah (Jewish egg bread); apparently Drew was always clumsy too!

Gary's jacket was left behind in the yard and Sean brings it in. Toyah asks Sarah if everything is all right - but as Sarah does not where Gary is she cannot go and talk to him. Toyah tells her not to let her imagination run away with itself. Peter plays spoof with Toyah who gets the job of telling Liz she does not have a job at the Rovers. She checks his other hand - he had one in each hand. Liz bustles in glammed up for work. She has come in to do a few hours as a freebie and pushes her bag into Peter's hands as there is a customer waiting for a pint so he cannot tell her there is no job. Toyah mouths "Pathetic" at Peter! Sarah drops the jacket and the ring box falls out. She opens it and sees the Eternity ring.

Later at the Platts DC Leigh is explaining to Bethany and Sarah how the court will work. Bethany has to be as comfortable and confident as possible.

Indoors Nicola pours some wine as Gary mope his cut hand. He tells a story about his army mate "Quinny" which ends with the latter being deaded by a bullet. Nicola asks if that is why he is going to Ukraine? She often feels she wants to make things change. Gary says that Anna said he always looked for trouble when he was a child and perhaps he has not changed. Coyly she says the stubble works (so we can all see where this is leading). There is still some blood and mess to be cleared up from Summer's attempt to saw her arm off. Nicola knows she should have known better. I have already lost count of the number of glasses of wine they have drunk. She explains that she wanted to work with people more chaotic than she is. She was always drawn to trouble and bad lads. Apparently her first boyfriend, Matt, reminds her of Seb. They both sink back comfortably into the sofa as she tells her story about Matt dying after a knife fight. She got a proper job but misses her old impulsive self. Both are very close on the sofa now. Gary leans in and snogs her face off.

After the break DC Leigh has gone and Mel appears from the garden. Sarah goes and Mel can continue to spin her web of evil around Bethany. All DC Leigh's visit has done has made Bethany think how unsafe it will be going into court against Nathan. Mel emphasizes that Bethany does not have to give evidence.

Gary rushes downstairs followed by Nicola both resecuring their recently abandoned clothing. Gary shouts at her to say nothing about this ever as this did not happen (how will Nicola explain her pregnancy then?). She is angry as he leaves.

The youngsters' party is in the middle of a drinking game. They agree it is time to go into town and go dancing at Village. Rana, slightly tipsy, sits on Zeedan's knee and indulges in some PDA. This of course upsets Kate who gives her another earful. Zeedan does not immediately support Rana who then storms out. Imogen leaves as well and the party falls apart. Alya realises that her idea to make things better has merely made it all worse. Kate runs outside and catches Imogen suggesting just the two of them go into town. Imogen agrees that perhaps they can do something on Sunday evening. Kate spots Rana leaning against a wall crying, walks over and tells Rana to stay away from her. Rana tries to apologise, but Kate is not having homophobic behaviour and the alcohol means Rana cannot hide it. Rana denies the charge and also hates them falling out. Rana really does apologise for upsetting Kate and Imogen and misses Kate's friendship - but Kate does not think they can be mates and walks away from Rana.

Gary is at the Platts explaining the cut hand to Bethany. Gary admits she was right - the job is a little riskier than he had admitted. It is not getting hurt that worries him - but when he to hurt someone else. He could not talk about it because he was doing the right thing, particularly for the kids.

Unnamed and unknown extra is pleased to see Liz back for some fun! Sean asks about the best thing about working at the medical centre. Leaving responds Liz and not having to face Moira at work as well as at home. Breakfast is hard enough. It transpires that Sean will be doing the receptionist job from Monday. He reckons Moira is a sweetheart and it was just a personality clash with Liz. Liz says she meant it. Peter tells Toyah it is her turn to sack Liz. Toyah turns to Liz who tells her that she feels like she has come home. She were a fish out of water across the road and now she is back in her own pond. So she is very happy. She hugs Toyah then tells Toyah that she has tweaked the rota, tweaked the IPA order and that a barrel needs changing. And most importantly Steve has been debarred. As Peter observes that really told Liz! Both completely outsmarted.

Billy and Todd collect Summer's stuff from Eileen's. She keeps the notes in case a real essay is needed one day. Summer tells them their trick was worse than hers and she will never trust them ever again. Nicola comes downstairs. Pat asks if she would like a glass of wine as there are two bottles in the fridge - but apparently they are no longer there and Nicola goes out to get some more. Pat tells her it is not worth regretting mistakes - you just move. She agrees.

Back at the Platts Gary is saying he just wanted them all to have better lives. Sarah is asking if it is worth the stress and strains. She tells him she thought he preferred to be single to enjoy the life and buzz of being single. She admits she has a confession to make - she found the ring and that confused her. He tells her it is an eternity ring, because he loves her and want them to be together. She wants an honest answer to one question. Was Gary with someone else last night? He says that he was not with anyone else last night (and completely admits to mention this evening at all). He swears on his life. She is only going to wear the ring because she knows she can trust him. He promises to tell her everything. "I love you Gary Windass" says Sarah. Gary responds with "I love you". Huge smile on her face, Gary's face is screwed up in agony as he knows he screwed around.

Roll credits

This week was a little easier on the senses. I know our Canadian readers do not see all the scenes we do - but tonight I really felt we had moved to Canada as we did not see Summer's culinary skills go wrong, or see Sean chasing the receptionist's job, nor Amy telling Todd that the RE project was not true. What is going on? It is almost as if the writers are in overdrive and scenes are being written, filmed and not shown.

Just a brief note to record my thanks for the entertainment Liz Dawn provided through the Street for so many years usually alongside Jack Tarmey and to hope they and their partners are entertaining the heavenly hosts as well as they did us.

Meanwhile I remain concerned about Emily Bishop or should that be Eileen Derbyshire.
