Wednesday 2 July

Firstly apologies for the lateness of this report. I am having PC problems (hopefully this will get through).

We start with Rosie who is fed up and doesn't want to audition for the school play. She is fed up with getting rejected. Sally and Kevin encourage her to use her talent and go for it.

Curly tells Sally and Kevin that he has not heard from Emma about going back. He says the ball is in her court.

Tracy says she doesn't really fancy a disco for Shelley's hen night. She doesn't think it will amount to much.

Sarah goes to see Roy about getting a part time job. He confirms that he does have a part time vacancy to replace Katy. He hopes that she will start longer than Katy did.

Tracy boasts to Bev that she can get any man into bed with her.

Shelley suggests to Peter that she should cancel the hen night. It seems that Deirdre has gone to see Blanche and she cannot come. Peter tells her to go ahead. Betty offers to look after the pub, as she doesn't fancy the hen night.

Hayley receives a phone call (it has to be significant otherwise there is no purpose in her going to the phone!). Her aunt has died of a massive stroke. She is very upset.

Tracy tells Bev that she could get Roy into bed for 1p. The reason for the bet is that she is not doing it for the money, but just to prove she can. Nothing will happen, and it won't last long! She tells Bev that Roy and Hayley are not really married because Hayley was originally a fella who had a sex change. He is therefore probably "gagging" for it!

Martin and Sunita tell Emma that Curly wants to come with her and Ben when she moves. Emma is annoyed that everyone seems to know more about her relationship with Curly than she does.

In the Rovers, Mike tells Dev that Karen is not all bad. If she had not come clean about Carter, he would have got away with it.

Candice tells Maria that she is going out with the pizza delivery boy. Maria thinks she can do better.

Archie is sitting on the bench outside Audrey's hairdresser's. Audrey is concerned for him, and invites him in for a cup of tea.

Sunita thinks it is up to Shelley to arrange the hen night. Tracy says it is up to the bridesmaids.

Kevin moans to Sally that everyone has put up Curly at one time or another. He is annoyed that Sally won't serve tea until he is back - they are not even sure when he is. Kevin wants to chuck him out to force Emma to take him back.

The hen night is begging in the Rovers.

Sally comes in and finds Curly. He has had a few drinks already and says he forgot about tea.

Hayley bursts into tears when Sally suggests to her that she is so miserable that she looks as if she is going to a funeral.

Shelley is about to leave for her hen night. Peter tells her to behave.

Dev sees Sunita chatting to Ciaran. He then tells her that it is obvious that she is getting on well with the "Irishman". He says he will not interfere.

Rosie is practicing her singing which is annoying Kevin. (It probably annoyed many viewers as well!). He says he used to like Atomic Kitten until he heard it so many times.

Martin tells Curly that he thinks the ball is back in his court regarding Emma.

Shelley arrives at her hen night party wearing (car) learner plates!

Curly after consuming a large amount of alcohol, goes to see Emma. He tells her that he does want to look after Ben and therefore wants to go with her. Emma doesn't want him to make sacrifices. She considers she is still a decent mum. Curly admits to Emma that he still loves her. He asks her to take him back.

Two guys at the hen night disco discuss how they are getting Shelley. One of them has a small bag of an unknown substance.

Friday 4 July

The raucous hen-night clatters on in the Weatherfield Arms, where a creep, Bob Cummings, boasts to his equally-creepy pal that he is going to bed the bride, even if it means spiking her drink. Tracy isn't dancing, and is singularly unimpressed by either the seedy pub or its equally-seedy clientele. [The reader is spared the constant throb of disco music, interspersed with shouted conversations.]

A tender scene in the Watts', where Curly eventually concedes that Emma did what she had to do; it was either Les or Emma who would suffer. [Distinct lack of Christian charity methinks!] Emma welcomes Curly into the 'real world', as she calls it. All Curly wants is Emma and Ben, and the deal is clinched by a, well, clinch.

Back at the hen-party, Bob Cummings sidles up to the girls' table and, just as he is ready to slip something into Shelley's drink, she quaffs what's left of her G and T before going off to the strains of The Locomotion. [Shelley is carrying a plastic replica of a steam engine around with her - I assume this is the bridal train?]

The Rovers is very quiet, and Ciaran finds out from Betty where the jollifications are taking place; maybe Sunita will be there?

The cunning Cummings goes off to buy Shelley a large G and T. Tracy sits, in a bad mood. Maria is dancing with Cummings' pal. [I say dancing, but aren't you supposed to actually move while dancing?] Roy arrives, to a rather frosty reception by Hayley: why is he here? Tracy thinks it would be a jolly jape if Roy got his kit off for the delectation of the girls. Roy doesn't comply with her request. [Thank you, Roy!] Roy explains to Hayley that he's been too selfish and has been neglecting her. [Tracy watches all that's going on, and probably weighing up her chances of success in her bet with Bev...]

Back at the Rovers, all is quiet, and Candice arrives with the pizza delivery boy, Liam, looking to show him off to Maria. [Who is, as you'll recall, currently eating this guy's face off on the dance floor of the Weatherfield Arms.] A smiling Emma and Curly come in, all lovey-dovey. [Tsk tsk, a happy married couple on Corrie? Whatever next?]

Back at the girls' night, the creep spikes Shelley's drink, but Tracy has seen what he did and deliberately spills the spiked G and T before Shelley touches it. Of course, Cummings gets a bit irate at having his plans thwarted and he lashes out at Tracy, just as the bouncers arrive to quell any trouble. Bev intervenes and calms things down, but she accuses Tracy of being jealous at Shelley getting all the attention. The two creeps are ushered out into the night, but they come back in again, giving Tracy the chance to grab a packet of drugs from Cummings and slipping them into her handbag, just as Ciaran enters and attempts to rescue Tracy from the two creeps, who gang up on him and he sinks like, well, a crippled submarine. The girls are invited to vacate the premises.

Back in the Rovers, and Emma and Curly tell a few of the regulars that they're all moving to Newcastle as soon as possible. Smiles all round. Hayley and Roy enter, closely followed by the hen-night crowd, all craving more alcoholic sustenance. [No sign of Ciaran or Sunita!] Bev gives Maria some coins to feed the juke box, where Candice attempts to show off Liam, her new boyfriend, and Tracy tries to talk Maria into going into town, but Maria goes off home. [How can she tear herself away from this merry party?]

Shelley creeps into the back room with a kazoo in her hand, and frightens a recumbent Peter by blowing it in his ear. [She found the kazoo on the till, but don't ask me how it got there...] Peter is none too pleased at seeing his intended bride so drunk, but he relents somewhat when he hears of the heroics of his chum, Ciaran. Is Ciaran here now, he wonders...

No, Ciaran and Sunita are attending the A&E department of Weatherfield General Hospital, patiently waiting Ciaran's turn to be seen by a doctor.

In the Rovers, Audrey hears of Emma and Curly's move to Newcastle, and she says that no one cares about Les. Peter thanks Tracy for having looked after Shelley, but Tracy wants to know if her brother is divorced from Lucy. Last week, Peter lies. [How do I know he lies? His lips moved.]

Back at Weatherfield General, a rather pregnant young lady checks in - juicy Lucy!! Ciaran is again plying his Irish charm on Sunita; he has seen the doctor, and has been advised that 'kissing it better' is the advised treatment. Just as they're about to leave, Ciaran spies Lucy and hurries off to phone a taxi for him and Sunita.

Back at the Rovers, Hayley tries to talk to an increasingly venomous Tracy, who can, as she says, have any man she wants. Tracy accuses a tearful Hayley of being a freak. Hayley rejoins Roy, but Tracy shouts across the bar to Roy to strip for the girls. Bev is on hand, again, to smooth things over, this time by throwing Tracy out, and warning her that the bet has gone far enough. Peter's mobile rings...

... and it's Ciaran calling from the hospital, with the news that Lucy has just checked in.

Sunday 6 July

Peter is on the phone in the pub back room..................he's talking to Ciaran, who is telling him that Lucy is at the hospital, ready to have her baby.....................first Bev comes in then Shelley so he has to cut the call off................Shelley invites him to join the hen do.....she says a lot of them have gone, but he is not in the mood, wonder why???

Steve comes into the bar, he is Betty's taxi home.........he tells Eileen that he has rung every number in Karen's address book but he can't find her..............he has left messages for people to call the cab office, so will she take the calls??

Peter, still in the back room, calls the hospital to ask about Lucy, he finds out she is using her maiden name, and he sends his love........but when the nurse tells Lucy she says she doesn't want him there...........

Early next morning, Eileen is looking rough and on her way to the shop, Dev asks her about the party but she says it would have been fine if it hadn't been for men.........like him!!

Bev catches Peter putting his shoes on by the back door and asks where is he sneaking off to this early in the morning.................then Shelley comes down and asks the same thing.................Peter wants to know does he need a pass to get out, to be signed by both of them????? He says he is going to work................but we know where he is going don't we???

Curly and Emma are happily back together, but Curly is worried about what Les will think when he comes out of prison and they have disappeared.................he wants to go to the prison and explain about Emma's promotion and transfer............... He arranges to go to the prison, but Emma thinks its a bad idea.

Peter gets to the maternity ward................Lucy is nearly there and making a lot of noise.................she screams she doesn't want him there, but as the nurse goes to tell him, she relents and allows him in. Peter goes in, Lucy is very close and screams at him, (as you do) he asks her how she is feeling, (stupid question) he asks her where she is living, and she says she is back at the flat.................you are lucky to be reading this because to watch it, the conversation was going at full scream!!!! (I hope I didn't make that much fuss :o( )

Bev sees Tracey in the street, and Tracey shows her the powder she took from the bloke in the pub who was trying to spike Shelly's drink.........now will Bev believe her?? Bev does. Ciaran appears and borrows the window cleaners ladder to climb up to Sunita's window.....she invites him in, and Dev goes potty...............he pulls the ladder away, leaving Ciaran dangling..........., but he manages to climb in.

The midwife says that Lucy is fully dilated................it's time. I wish she would hurry up....this is getting boring.

Curly goes in to see Les...........Les thinks he is there to help him, but Curly tell him he is back with Emma, and about the move...........and the promotion. Les says he can go where he likes, but he will find that wife of his and her mate...........Les reckons that is all that is keeping him going.

Come on Lucy, hurry up with that baby................oh here it comes.......a little boy all pink and clean, as can only happen in soap land.

Back in the cab office, Eileen has had loads of calls about Karen, but nothing to say where she is...........

Emma is waiting when Curly gets home, she asks how it went?? She asks did Les threaten them, cos if he did its serious and she should report it, but Curly says no he didn't........... not much eh??

Over in the pub, Peter comes in and Ciaran takes him to one side and asks how it went..............Peter tells him its a boy, and Ciaran congratulates him.. He asks about the wedding...............but Peter is all confused now, he doesn't know what is going to happen, he looks so worried............. awwwwwwwwww poor Peter !!! NOT!!!!

Monday 7 July

We open with Peter on the phone to the hospital, enquiring about Lucy and the baby. Shelley comes in, asking who he was on the phone to. He tells her it was Ciaran. Shelley wonders what on earth Sunita sees in him, would he even make a good father? When Peter protests that they're hardly even going out Shelley tells him it pays to think ahead about these things, after all, a baby changes everything.

Kevin and Sally and the girls are having breakfast and talking about Rosie's forthcoming audition for the lead part in My Fair Lady. Sally says she might come and watch, Rosie is horrified.

In the taxi office Eileen is taking yet another call, no she doesn't know where Karen is. Steve comes in and takes the phone, but it turns out to be an old school friend who hasn't seen Karen since school days and didn't even know she was married. Steve decides to take another look through Karen's address book.

Peter arrives at the hospital, bearing gifts. However, Mum and baby are asleep so he can't see them. The sister takes the presents promising to pass them on.

In the Kabin, Sally, Norris, Audrey and Emily are talking about Rosie's audition. Norris doesn't seem very optimistic about her chances of getting the lead. Archie comes in, he's been to the doctor's. Audrey is very concerned. It's nothing too serious, he's just stressed out and must take it easy. Norris says that's what they told his uncle and three weeks later they were measuring him up for his coffin!

In the pub, Mike is asking Dev what's going on with Sunita, as they see her across the bar talking to Bev. Sunita is asking Bev if she's being too hard on the two men in her life. Bev tells her they're not exactly innocent victims, they've both played around in their time, it's only what they deserve. Ciaran comes in and asks Sunita out on Friday. She's obviously flattered, but coquettishly tells him she'll have to check her diary!

In the taxi office with Eileen, Steve is still going through Karen's address book, phoning round trying to find her. The next number is her Auntie Eva, and Steve is suspicious of the way she fobs him off quickly. His suspicions are confirmed, we see Karen talking to Auntie Eva, telling her she doesn't want to see him.

In the pub, Audrey, Candice and Maria are talking about Archie - Candice remarks that at least he won't have to pay for his own funeral! Audrey is shocked, Archie's not that old. Everyone over 35 looks old to Candice. She tells Maria she's going out with Liam again tonight.

Ciaran and Peter are talking about Lucy and the baby. Ciaran asks him what he's going to do about it all. Peter doesn't know, it's all been a bit of a shock, he's getting married to Shelley but he can't turn his back on his own son. (Isn't he forgetting something here - that he's actually already married to Lucy and bigamy is a crime?) Ciaran tells him he can't have them both - or can he?

Steve drives up in front of a large block of flats, gets out of his car and looks at an address on a piece of paper.

Janice and Mick arrive back in the Street, and notice the 'For Sale' board being put up outside Curly's house. At that moment Emma, Curly and baby appear. Janice asks if they're back together again. They confirm that they are, and they're all moving to Newcastle.

Audrey meets Archie outside the corner shop. He's just done his shopping. She asks if he's going home. He tells her he's going to call in at the office first. Audrey tells him she should go straight home and put his feet up, she'll be over later to cook his tea for him.

Rosie and Sophie arrive home from school. Kevin shouts across the road asking how it went. Sophie gives him the thumbs down.

Steve knocks on Auntie Eva's door. She opens it and then shuts it again quickly. Steve guesses from that that Karen is there, and starts to call through the window that none of it matters the scam, Joe, everything, and that he loves her and wants her back. Eventually, after threatening to call the police, Auntie invites him in, telling him Karen has gone to the Jobcentre. She asks Steve what he meant by his remarks about the scam. Steve won't tell, but Auntie guesses it was illegal, Karen always did go to her when she was in trouble.

Kevin, Sally and the girls are at the dinner table. Sally is trying to work out why Rosie didn't get the part. In fact, Rosie didn't get any part, she's been put backstage! Sally is outraged.

At the hospital Lucy refuses to see Peter, but he claims he's not going anywhere while his wife and son are in there, and he sits down to wait.

Karen arrives back from the Jobcentre, and is shocked to see Steve there. Her auntie tells her to hear him out. Karen tells him to say what he's got to say and then go.

Liam has arrived early at the Rovers to meet Candice. He sees Maria sitting there and offers to buy her a drink.

Emily and Norris are talking about Rosie, Sally comes in and tells them Rosie didn't get the part. After she's gone Norris says he knew she wouldn't because he's heard her singing.

Liam asks Maria some advice about a haircut. Just as Maria is examining his hair rather too closely, Candice comes in. She gets him out of there quick.

Steve, meanwhile, is telling Karen that he's still in love with her and wants her back. He feels they've still got a future together. But Karen reckons there's no going back. She wants to forget the last few months and he'd be a constant reminder. She doesn't want to talk about it, she wants a new life, its the only way she can cope with it all. She becomes very, very upset, almost hysterical and tells Steve to leave her alone. Steve tells her fine, if that's what she really wants, he's sorry and he leaves.

At the hospital Lucy has agreed to see Peter for just five minutes. She tells him she doesn't want him to visit her and Simon (the baby) again. Peter is horrified that she's named his son without consulting him. Then out come more lies, he tells her he left Shelley months ago. Lucy pauses, she almost believes him, but then she realizes its the same old Peter, and she can never trust him. She wants him out of her life and she never, ever wants to see him again.

Wednesday 9 July

Shelley reminds Peter that they are going to see the Vicar this afternoon, their appointment is at 5.30pm but Shelly told Peter to be there at 5.00pm. Todd, Jason, their Dad and Sara in the flat and their Dad and Jason advise Todd that the electric is wired up to the bookies. Peter and Ciaran chat in the pub and Peter tells Ciaran that is is not giving up on the baby.

Steve waits for Karen outside her aunties house. Sally is at the school waiting to see Miss Crocker (Rosy drama teacher). At the hospital Katy talks to Todd and they are both happy that they both have jobs. Jom says Hello to Todd, Katy eyes up Jim as he walks past.

Miss Crocker tells Sally that Rosy hasnt got the voice to be the main part in the play. They argue, Sally thinks its all to do with personality. Sally tells Miss Crocker that Rosy will have her name in lights one days and she will just be a teacher. Sally storms out.

Steve sees Karen, with suitcases, coming out of the flat headding towards a taxi. Karen doesnt want to talk to him but Steve asks her to give him an hour. If she still doesnt want him after that time, she will leave her alone, he promises. Karen gives in and the walk back into the flat.

Sally tells Kevin that Rosy deserves better and not a backstagge part. Rosy is embarrassed about what happened today, Sally said shed apologise to the teacher but Rosy said No things were bad enough.

Steve tells Karen that he still loves her and reckons that Kren feels the same way. Steve tells her she'll end up with a 'grotty job, in a grotty bedsit and totally miserable'.. What does it matter to Steve, well Steve cares. karen tells Steve she is like she is now (totally miserable) because of Steve and his one night stand. Steve explains why he had to do it, he thought that she was having an affair and he wanted to hurt her.

Peter goes to see Lucy. Peter explains to Lucy what 'single parenting' is like, he seen it with Susan, when she was bringing up Adam and it is hard work with the sleepless night and dirty nappies. Lucy wants Peter to leave and leave her alone, she has made her decision and she is sticking to it.

Steve admitsa this mess is all his fault, his jealousy. Karen tells him nothing went on with Joes until after they split. He know that NOW!!! He asks Karen how would she have felt if the situation has been reversed. He still loves her, he always will. He will never get over losing her. He pleads with her to give it one more chance.

In the pub, Bev (yes, I remembered her name) and Tracy see Roy, and Bev tells Tracy a joke is a joke and leave it, but Tracy says a bet is a bet. Tracy goes to sit with Roy and apologies for the Hen Night. Tracy flaunts herself.

Steve says he was happy that Karen didnt go with Joe, they talk about the situation with Joe and Karen admits that she should not have spent so much time together when they were still together. Steve says its not a time to be pointing the blame, Karen says she regrets her time with Joe as he was only using her (she overheard him telling Mike). She claims she has lost everything due to Joe and Steve says he has lost everything he cares about. The hour is up and Karen goes to ring for a taxi.

In the pub, Tracy leaves and Roy cant believe what Tracy was like and questions Hayley about his mannerisms lately, have they changed, but nothing is the matter with him.

Steve tells Karen he knows how she feels, shes ashamed and humilated. Thats how he felt when karen moved Joe into the flat and Janice kept taunting him. Steve tells Karen to sort her out life out (in a really nice way) and that she cant keep running. Karen says shes lost everythin but Steve says she has still got him.

In the pub, Shelley rearranges the Vicar for Friday. Peter didnt show. Peter walks into the backroom and Shelley shouts at him. Peter apologises but he is worrying over the wedding and he wants everything to be just right, hes been there before. Shelley tells him he has got to share everything with her even this worries.

Karen says its too late to get back together but Steve says its not if they both want it. Steve is there with her, but what does Karen want? She tells him that he doesnt deserve her, Steve tells her they must put the past behind them. Karen admits that she has never stopped loving Steve (even when she was with Joe), but she is too scared to go back now, he admits he is too!!! Karen asks him does he love her, andd he says how many time have I got to tell you, Karen says once. Steve says ' I LOVE YOU', and nothing will ever get between them again. They embrace with Karen crying.

Friday 11 July

Karen and Steve, just reconciled, decide to take Auntie for lunch, and the happy couple debate where to stay for the rest of their lives. Weatherfield? Timbuctoo?

In the Rovers, Tommy and Martin meet up, and Martin tells his pal about the forthcoming night out for Curly, which Tommy is not too keen on - it'll be a boring 'old pals' night. Martin persuades Tommy it'll be an interesting night, not all 'memory lane' stuff, so Tommy will come along. [Tommy, it could well be a very interesting night!] Bev collars Peter about the impending nuptials: is he serious about Shelley? Bev tells Peter that 'no one likes weddings'. [Peter loves weddings, Bev!!] Can Peter manage to fit in a meeting with the vicar later? Peter assures Bev that he's working night and day to pay for the wedding, and Bev believes him when he says that 'Shelley is all I've got and all I want'. [Pass the sick bag!]

In the Corner Shop, Dev overhears a phone conversation between Sunita and the Blarney boy, Cieran. [Sunita is being more of a coquette episode by episode.]

After taking Auntie for lunch, Steve tries to persuade Karen to come back to Weatherfield where they both can face things together, but Karen doesn't think that's a good idea. Steve admits that he's paid back the £8,000 to Mike. Karen would prefer sticking a pin in the map and going there.

The hospital canteen, and Martin meets up with Katy and her new-found admirer, hospital porter, Jimmy. [Is Martin a bit jealous?] There's a Sunday-night staff shindig; will Martin turn up for that?

Back at Auntie's house, and Karen eventually succumbs to Steve's persuasive powers, egged-on by her Auntie. They'll go back to Weatherfield for a three-week trial period. [All's well that ends well, perhaps? Perhaps not - not yet, anyway!]

Karen and Steve arrive back on the street in Steve's taxi. Tracy passes Roy and pretends to have lost an earring, which Roy eventually finds on the pavement and returns it to a very grateful Tracy, who drags him off to the Rovers for a thank-you drink, much against his will... ... just as Reverend Graham Broadbent arrives to see the happy couple, Peter and Shelley. Roy retreats as fast as he can from the clutches of Tracy, once he's retrieved his ever-present bag. [No nasty comments, please!]

In the Kabin, Cieran and Dev lock horns about [who else?] the lovely Sunita. Norris, as is his wont, puts in his tuppence-worth, which is not appreciated, even by Steve, who wants to continue his lease of the marital flat. [Rita is at the cash and carry; lucky Rita!]

In the cafˇ, Roy is bemoaning his being frog-marched into the Rovers by the harridan Tracy. Hayley tells him not to respond in the way she (Tracy) would like. Martin arrives and sees the newly coiffured Katy sitting with Todd. Martin thinks that the staff party on Sunday may be a good idea.

The back room of the Rovers, and Rev Broadbent is talking to the happy bride-and-groom-to-be. He thinks they should 'darken the church's doors' a few times and they promise to do just that. [You can do a lot of thinking and praying in an hour, he says.]

In Sunita's flat, Cieran and Sunita, in between snogging, discuss dental histories, but Sunita insists he leave before she jumps into bed with him.

The McDonalds' flat, and Karen consigns their mail to the bin, including their proposed divorce proceedings. Another snog ensues. Karen produces her wedding ring, and this is placed on Karen's finger by Steve...

Back in the Rovers, and Tracy pouts at Roy, as he sits with Hayley. [Hayley opines that Tracy is beautiful and has a nice chest.] Roy and Hayley go off home... ... just as Tommy arrives, complaining to Martin that Katy must have 'some lad' in her sights. [Tommy wonders who this could be!]

Janice sees Steve and Karen arrive back and weighs in with a not-too-welcome reminder of Karen's recent sojourn on the street. Karen dissolves in tears, and Steve is the comforter...

Sunday 13 July

In the Nelsons living room...........Katy is sitting there wearing a green face pack.................her little brother reckons she looks like Shrek!!! Tommy asks has she had her jab before tonight's hospital party?? she says she has, so he warns her to watch what she drinks.

Curly is painting the window frames to make the house look more desirable for selling................Janice and Mick stop for a chat, Janice asks how much he wants for it?? he asks is she interested, but she declines.....she doesn't get on with the neighbours!!!!

In the Macdonald flat, Karen is busy cleaning.............Steve says what's up?? Sunday is relaxing and manicure day, dial a pizza..................... but Karen says the place is minging (Lancashire saying) Steve tries to persuade her to go to the Rovers and face the world.....

Over in the Rovers, Peter and Shelley arrive back from church..............Ciaran teases Peter about it, but Shelley snaps back that he should try it sometime!!! The Weatherfield 7 are getting ready for their big lads night out, to say goodbye to Curly, but there's only 4 of them. Kevin, Curly, Tommy and Martin.

Peter goes to sit with Ciaran and goes on about Lucy and the baby.............he is convinced he can persuade her to have him back. (as usual Shelley is just an afterthought)

In the backroom of the pub, Sunita is trying on her bridesmaid dress and very nice she looks too, Bev comes in with gin and tonic all round, but makes Sunita change first!!

The "lads" are discussing how fast kids grow up these days. Kevin is mithering about Rosie, and Tommy says that Katy looked at least 20 when she left for the hospital party, Curly reckons he will keep Ben in short pants until he is at least 15.........lol Martin suddenly develops a headache, (funny that) and leaves.

Peter is at the hospital to see Lucy and the baby, but he is told she went home yesterday.

Also at the hospital, but at the party, Katy is leaning on a pillar and looking very foxy?? with her new coiffure, and is being chatted up by a young beau. Martin appears and doesn't look very happy. (must be the headache) not!!

Back in the Rovers, Tracey sidles over to sit with Roy, who looks very uncomfortable..............she offers to teach him to drive, and take him "somewhere quiet" to practice.

Steve and Karen come in, and Janice has a dig at her, but nothing too drastic.

Hayley arrives to find Tracey chatting Roy up, she goes to the bar to get a drink, but suddenly grabs the ice bucket and slings the contents over a surprised Tracey...........yayyyyyyyyyy!!! good for you Hayley!!!!! Tracey jumps up and yells at Hayley that she (Hayley) is only jealous because Tracey can have any man she wants. Hayley retaliates by saying, except one!! So Tracey yells back that at least she has real breasts and ovaries..............ohhhhhhh bit below the belt that one. But Hayley stands her ground and says that Tracey might be able to get men, but she can't keep them once they find out what she is like!!! very true............. Bev hustles a protesting Tracey into the back room.

The "lads" enjoyed the entertainment and are pleased they never bothered going on their pub crawl. Karen and Steve are leaving as Mike Baldwin comes in..........he has a go at Karen and warns her to keep away from his factory or he will march her down the cop shop. Steve points out he has paid all the money back.

Mike sits with Dev at the bar, and they chat about Sunita, Dev has decided to keep a back seat, and wait. Shelley puts her oar in to say if he waits he could lose out!!!

At the hospital party, Katy sees Martin, but goes back to dancing with her new admirer.

Its late, and Roy goes down into the cafe to find Hayley nursing a cup of cocoa in the dark. He admits to her that he doesn't know what to do when Tracy comes on to him........... (I think Hayley had the best idea) but he wasn't keen on the way Hayley reacted either....

Peter goes round to Lucy's flat, and asks her for just 10 minutes of her time, she lets him in and the baby is screaming!!!! she is upset, so Peter picks up the baby and tells her to go and have a nice long soak in the bath and he will see to baby. While she is in the bath he cooks her spaghetti bolognese.........he makes enough so she can freeze some for another day, he tidies up, and when she comes back from her bath he offers to come again tomorrow so she can have some time to go shopping or see a friend for coffee.

Back in the pub, back room, the ladies are discussing men.....no change there then...........Tracey makes some sarcastic remark and walks out. In the bar..the Weatherfield 7 are now 3, but are still discussing women and kids.....Tommy reckons the more you love them, the more they cost you!!

At the hospital part, Katy is really "getting it on" ?? with her admirer, Martin watches from the sidelines, but suddenly rushes over and hits him........he gets dragged off and walks out, but Katy follows and shouts at him for showing her up, and asks him what right has he got anyway he's not her dad!!! he admits he's jealous...he feels like a teenager, but she is his mates daughter...........he thinks that makes him feel like some sort of pervert. she tells him it doesn't and they kiss!! well you knew that was coming didn't you??

Monday 14 July

We open with Peter on the phone talking about nappies. Shelley and her mum come in. Peter says he making notes for his wedding speech and no, they can't see it on account of all those mother-in-law jokes. Harry comes in, so Peter tells him to put the kettle on, he's going. Shelley tells him not to forget 5.30 pm, its the wedding rehearsal!

Steve and Dev are talking to Kevin at the garage. Steve is trying to negotiate a discount on work done on the taxis. Steve tries for 15 percent, but Dev interferes and settles for 10 percent. Steve tells him they were already getting that, and Dev really should sort himself out with Sunita, for his (Steve's) pocket's sake! Dev confides to Steve that he's never felt like this before, he feels out of his depth, not sure of what to do next.

Tommy, Curly and Kevin are chatting outside the garage, comparing hangovers. They see Martin walking up the street (passing Katie!) and say that he had the right idea, going home early. Curly tells them he did no such thing, Martin fancies a nurse and sloped off to the hospital disco. Martin comes over, Kevin asks who the new girlfriend is. Martin is non committal and states it's the last time he confides in Curly. "Serious enough to leave your mates for!" retorts Kevin. Martin states they're more like a load of old women than mates, and leaves. Curly wonders if they shouldn't have said anything, as Martin's obviously sensitive about it. Kevin asks if she's married but Curly says no, she's just a bit young, twenty or something. Tommy laughs saying Martin must have thought they'd be jealous, him and a fit young bird! (If only he knew!)

Peter arrives at Lucy's flat with a load of groceries, and refuses to take any money for them. He offers to look after his son while Lucy has a bath or a sleep.

Karen arrives at the taxi office, stating that she can't stay round Weatherfield. Steve had given Mike Baldwin the 8,000 pounds so why didn't he leave her alone? Steve reckons he must have brought the wrong Karen home. Where's the feisty Karen, the gobby one? He paid shed loads of money so they could stay round there. (Isn't Steve nice?) He tells here there's plenty round there with lots more to be ashamed of than her, him for one, he has messed up so many times. He's going to be masterful and take her to the Rovers! He gets her laughing and they kiss and cuddle. Aah!

Peter is looking after his son. Lucy is asleep, but just as he's about to leave it seems there's a dirty nappy that needs changing!

Katy comes out of the Kabin and Tommy calls her over, telling her to be quiet if she goes home because her mum's not feeling too well. Kevin comes up, egging Tommy on to ask Katy about the party, and Martin's new girlfriend. Katy is a bit ruffled and tells them it's Martin's business and they're a pair of saddos!

Curly and Emma walk down the street talking about their forthcoming move to Newcastle.

Outside the church Bev, Shelley, Ken and Sunita are waiting. Tracey comes rushing up, asking if they're waiting for her. Bev asks if Peter's not with her. She explains that he went out hours ago and he's the boss, he doesn't have to tell her where he's going. Peter arrives at last with a tale about going to see his accountant, but Bev doesn't look convinced. They go on inside.

Candice and Sarah are at Sarah's house, talking. Candice reckons now that she's earning she'll be leaving home very soon. Todd comes in, full of the tale of Martin coming between Katy and Jimmy at the hospital disco last night.

Martin and Katy meet up in the street. She offers to walk home with him, and asks him where she stands. He agrees that they need to talk, so Katy says she'll come and see him at his flat that evening.

Bev asks Shelley the name of Peter's accountant. Peter walks in, and tells them it's Jeff. Bev wonders why he's not on the guest list, he's obviously a good friend, the first night she was there Peter was out with him all night. Peter makes up some excuse about him being on holiday and tells them that Ciaran has got him a pint so he's going into the pub to talk to him.

Katy is in the street putting on her make up. Sarah and Candice come up, Sarah is worried that Martin was out of order last night. They ask where's she's off to, putting on her lippy, they assume she's going to see Jimmy. (Little do they know!)

Peter and Ciaran are talking about Peter's situation. Ciaran points out he'll have to tell Shelley about Simon (the baby). Peter explains that babies have mothers, and the marriage was hardly likely to go ahead if Shelley found out he had a baby. He loves Shelley. Ciaran says it wasn't long ago they sat in the same place and Peter told him he loved Lucy.

Bev, over behind the bar, looks on. Then she tells Ken that her mother always said you could tell a man by the company he keeps. Ken thinks its just Peter being loyal to an old friend. Bev remarks he'd better work out where his loyalties lie after the wedding.

Curly and Emma are talking about Newcastle again. She has been given her starting date, it's next Monday. Curly is shocked, they haven't sold the house yet. Emma explains she will stay at another inspector's house (Michelle) to start with, and get home when she can. She can househunt too. Curly wistfully remarks that the Rovers has been his local for twenty years....still, it's time he found a new one.

In the flat, Katy and Martin are discussing the fact that her dad and Kevin think his new girlfriend is a nurse. Martin gets her a drink. They kiss.

In the pub Bev is talking to Harry when Karen and Steve come in. Harry tells Karen that they need another good machinist over at the factory, and what with Angie being sick now would be a good time to ask for her job back. Karen tells him Mike Baldwin's more likely to have an affair with Vera Duckworth than take her back! (Now there's food for thought!)

Dev and Sunita are discussing where they're going to sit at the wedding, will they be next to each other? Ciaran comes out of the gents and joins them. Won't it be a bit crowded, Ciaran is sitting next to Sunita! Dev leaves the money for the drinks and goes off. Sunita asks Ciaran how he can be sitting next to her when he's not even invited? Shelley, serving behind the bar, confirms that Ciaran can't come, its all signed and sealed now.

Back at Martin's flat, Katy confesses that she feels jealous of Gail. Martin tells her she's daft. So is he daft, she tells him, going off on one with Jimmy last night. He admits it was madness. She asks if he's had any other girlfriends, after all its been a while since he split with Gail. He tells her no-one special. She asks if she's special, and does it feel wrong? "No," he tells her, "but it should". He wants her to be sure she knows what she's doing. She tells him there's nothing she wants more, and he tells her he feels the same.

Bev puts an Irish whisky down in front of an already half-cut Ciaran. She tells him she knows he doesn't get on with her daughter and it must be hard watching his best pal marry a woman who doesn't like him. Ciaran says it must be just as hard for Bev to watch her daughter marry a man she doesn't like. Bev then talks to Ciaran about the 'other woman' and Ciaran falls straight into the trap, amazed that Shelley knows! Then he realizes she doesn't know, he's been tricked! Bev asks who she is, but Ciaran tells her the other woman is history and Peter loves Shelley, Bev won't tell Shelley will she? Bev hasn't decided yet!

Wednesday 16 July

Tommy questions Katy on where is was last night. She is still a kid and Tommy set her a curfew of 10.30. She'll tell her boss that then when she working a late shift (she cant work until midnight).

Shelly tells Peter that Ciaran cant come to the wedding as there is no room. Bev is smoking in the backroom of the pub, she's got a lot on her mind. Peter has got to go to Liverpool on business, but Shelley asks him to be back for her 'wedding shower' tonight (all the girls are coming round). He says he will try. Bev says that she has never been to Liverpool and would like to go. Shelley gives in to Peter about letting Ciaran come to the wedding. Peter give Shelley a hug, Bev walks out of the room is disgust.

In the shop, Dev makes Sunita a cup of tea, Sunita says its not like Ciaran makes it.

Martin walks past the garage and Tommy asks him to come for a drink to let the others know his secret about pulling birds. Martin says you've either got it or you haven't. Ciaran and Bev bump into each other in the street, Ciaran asks Bev if she has told Shelley, Bev says No. Ciaran tells Bev that Peter has changed and the affair is well and truly over, Peter loves Shelley. Bev says that what happens if he cheats again 'Leopards cant change their spots'. Ciaran is sure that he wont. Peter meanwhile, goes to Lucy's with bags of shopping. He hands Lucy an envelope and tells her to open it after he has left. She opens it then, its a building society book with £300 already in the account. Peter says that he will continue to put money in. He thanks Lucy for letting him see Simon.

At the hospital, Martin apologizes to the hospital worker (you know the one he punched the other night), explaining that he has a daughter that age. Katy turns up. Martin pulls her into a store cupboard, she's glad that her first time was with him, Katy asks to see him tonight, she's meant to be working !!!!!!!!

Shelley is in the backroom of the pub writing the wedding invites. Shelley asks Bev what is wrong as she keeps having a pop at Peter and asks her to stop it. Bev tells Shelley that she is too easy to please Peter. Bev has a headache and retires to bed. In the bar, Betty tells Tracy she's bought the happy couple an electric blanket. Tracey then turns and has a dig at Hayley - men and women should be together, their curves fit in together (obviously referring to her sex change!).

Still in the pub, Ciaran sees Peter, calls Peter over and tells him to keep smiling incase Shelley is watching. Ciaran tells Peter that Bev tricked him into telling her about the affair, Bev knows!!! Peter is worried that Bev will not sit on this for long!!!!

Bev and Shelley are in the backroom when Peter walks in, Adam is pleased he is usher but isn't sure about the suit. Bev leaves the room again!!!, Shelley tells Peter that she has told her mum to leave off him, Peter says he cant do right for doing wrong. (can any man sorry!!!!)

David goes to Martins to watch a video and stay the night, Martin looks agitated. Martin tells David that unfortunately he cant stop tonight as he is going out. At the pub, the wedding shower is in full flow with Peter and Adam topping up drinks. Peter asks Bev to give a speech, she says 'To Love and Fidelity' and 'Mother-in-Laws from Hell' (I know that feeling!!!!)

Katy turns up at Martins, Martin tells her about David, she tells him that he should really have David to stay but he wants Katy and that he does has a life other than the kids.

Roy is downstairs in the cafe stocktaking, Hayley comes down wandering where he is. Uncle Bert is finding it hard work looking after Auntie Maud and she is going up to help him. 'Why is your face orange' Roy asks Hayley, she advises that its foundation. Hayley wants an early night and leads Roy upstairs.

Martin and Katy cuddling on the settee (after going to bed) and Katy says she must go home but Martin says they still have time. Katy is hungry, Martin tells her to go and make something, she is the guest, but Martin wants her to feel at home. In the end, Martin gets up to make tea and toast (and it must be with butter)

In the pub hallway, Bev searches through Peters jacket, she finds his wallet, Shelley catches her and questions her. Bev says she looking for a phone number and then confesses that she is looking for evidence/clues, she tells Shelley that Peter has had an affair. Shelley calls her a liar, she is not arguing now as there are a room full of people that are happy for her in there and its a pity her Mum cant be. Bev tells her to ask Ciaran, he wont lie to her. Bev tells Shelly that Ciaran had said that Peter really does love her but at the end of the day he has had an affair. Shelley screams at her mum 'Shut your big poisonous mouth up' and storms out to the back yard in tears !!!!!

Friday 18 July

In the back room of the Rovers, Peter tells an unusually quiet Shelley and her Mum that he has 'things to do', and Shelley reminds her intended not to forget to book the cars for their wedding, which Peter promises to do, then leaves. Shelley turns her attention, and her anger, on her Mum: why does Bev have to spoil the wedding with all this talk of Peter's having an affair? Whether her Mum likes it or not [and Bev doesn't like it!] she's marrying Peter tomorrow.

In the Barlow home, Deirdre asks Tracy what she thinks of her dress for the wedding and Tracy tells her Mum that she wouldn't go out 'tricking and treating' in it. [Not a good day for Mother/daughter bonding, it would appear.] Tracy compounds the felony by declaring that the dress colour [light blue] reminds her of Shelley's varicose veins. Deirdre seems to remember that Tracy got married in a dress she picked up in a Help the Aged shop. Ken sits and, wisely, remains silent.

Chez Lucy, and Peter has arrived to baby-sit little Simon, while Lucy does some shopping. Peter mentions to her that they won't be able to divorce until March, but Lucy doesn't see that as a problem - after all, it's not as if either of them is planning to get married again, eh? [Oh dear, if only Lucy knew what we know.] Peter holds little Simon and, wisely, remains silent.

Back room of the Rovers, and Shelley wants to talk to her Mum, about Peter's alleged affair, although Shelley is convinced that it's all a figment of her Mum's over-active imagination. Bev reminds her daughter of various lads Shelley has had over the years, like Luke Fletcher, who were all bad 'uns. Shelley accuses her Mum of being jealous of her, which Bev flatly denies and goes on to accuse Peter of being sneaky and shifty. [Oh dear, if only Bev knew what we know.] Shelley loses her temper and orders her Mum to return to Bradford immediately, for she doesn't want her at the wedding. Alone in the back room, Shelley weeps.

In the Rovers' bar, Roy arrives with a present for the bride-to-be, and tells Bev that Hayley has gone to look after her aunt, so they won't be able to attend the nuptials. However, Sunita overhears this and, pressed by her, Roy agrees to attend on his own.

Back in the back room, Bev tries to persuade Shelley to confront Peter to find out the truth about the alleged affair. Bev waxes eloquent about her late husband - he was the right man for her, and Shelley deserves Mr Right too. [I seem to hear skeletons rattling in cupboards!]

Again chez Lucy, where the proud father is attending to wee Simon as Lucy arrives back from shopping. Lucy intimates that she's going to register the birth tomorrow, and an anxious Peter wonders if he'll be needed. No, Lucy can do this on her own. [Peter has some business to attend to tomorrow, remember!] Peter explains that he'll be off on holiday for a couple of weeks, but Lucy promises to contact him on his return.

Back at the Barlow domicile, and Deirdre has had her hair done, much to Ken's approval. She glances at her dress for the wedding, and spies some mark on it, which turns out to be shoe polish. Adam would appear to be the culprit, and apologizes, but Deirdre is inconsolable - what will she wear? [How did shoe polish get on her dress? Your guess is as good as mine...]

In the street, the two love-rivals, Dev and Ciaran, lock horns once again over Sunita. Dev warns the Irish charmer not to hurt her, and Sunita appears, walking off with Ciaran. Tracy bumps into Steve exiting the betting shop, but Steve is not in the mood for chit-chat. However, Tracy spots Roy working outside the cafˇ and shouts over an invite to him - if he's lonely, he knows where she lives. [Roy, wisely, remains silent.]

Bev makes a last-ditch effort to save her relationship with her daughter, and spills the beans to Shelley about her Dad's dalliance with someone. Shelley can scarcely believe this - her Dad? Bev forgave her husband, and they stayed together. She persuades Shelley to confront the truth with Peter.

The Barlows', where Ken arrives to Deirdre's moaning about having nothing to wear. Ken produces a plastic bag, containing - a dress! Deirdre loves it. [Which means that Tracy won't, of course.] How could he afford it? He was saving up for a new printer, but decided to blow the cash on a dress for the love of his life. [Don't you just love Ken?]

In the Rovers, Steve learns from Dev about his master-plan; is Dev about to propose to Sunita? Dev remains silent... Ciaran and Tracy josh about Peter, and his dark secrets, Tracy claiming to have information that would blow Ciaran's socks off. They trade information, Ciaran telling Tracy about little Simon, and Tracy telling Ciaran about Peter's marriage to Lucy. They both realize that, since Peter is still married, he cannot go ahead with the wedding to Shelley. [Both Ciaran and Tracy seem very amused at Peter's, em, predicament...] Peter arrives in the pub, and Bev suggests to him that Shelley would 'like a word', so he goes towards the back room...

... where Shelley is waiting to pop the question: is Peter having an affair? Strangely enough, Peter tells the truth, and admits his liaison with profuse apologies to a stunned Shelley. Of course, Peter tries, unsuccessfully, to convince Shelley that his affair was short-lived and meant nothing to him, but Shelley wonders when this affair took place - just before Christmas, when Peter proposed to her. Peter protests his love for Shelley, now in tears, but to no avail. Shelley wants him out of her life, right now. The marriage is off. She doesn't even want to look at him, far less marry the cheating swine. Peter leaves, and Shelley weeps bitter tears...

Monday 21 July

It's the morning after the night before and we open with Roy waking up in an unfamiliar bedroom, focusing on unfamiliar things, including ladies' underwear and ...Tracey!

Ciaran and Sunita are also waking up in bed together, she asks him if he's any regrets from the day before. He tells her no.

Roy quietly gets himself dressed, disentangling various items of his clothing from Tracey's underwear.

Dev is serving Steve in the corner shop, with Dev telling Steve what a row Ciaran and Sunita had at the wedding reception and how he's sure Ciaran will be history as far as Sunita is concerned.

Archie is talking to Gail about Audrey's forthcoming birthday on Friday, because if she hasn't got anything planned, he needs some help. He wants to show his appreciation because she has been a tower of strength to him.

With shoes in hand Roy opens the bedroom door, but to his obvious dismay hears Ken and Deirdre calling Adam for breakfast. Downstairs Adam comes in for breakfast where Ken and Deirdre are at the table. Mike is apparently coming to pick Adam up at 9.30 am and is always prompt. Adam starts to tuck in, and Ken starts pouring tea, just as Roy gets to the bottom of the stairs. He is at the front door when he is spotted by an amazed Ken. Deirdre looks to see what Ken is looking at, and is equally amazed. Ken, with teapot in hand, asks if he'd like a cup of tea (!) but Roy stammers that he has to open the cafe. Suddenly, there is Tracey at the top of the stairs, asking if the naughty boy is trying to sneak off without saying goodbye. After struggling with the locks that Ken eventually has to undo, Roy hurries off as fast as he can.

In the street he runs into Kirk who remarks 'Talk about leaving the scene of the crime!' (Poor Roy!) but Kirk is watching Curly and Emma packing up the car. Curly, holding baby Ben, waves goodbye as Emma drives off to start her new job in Newcastle. Kirk is disgusted at Emma, criminals always leave the scene of the crime he tells Curly. Curly informs him that the saying is: 'criminals actually always return to the scene of the crime'. Kirk can't understand that at all.

Outside the cafe Sarah and Tyrone are waiting for Roy to open up. Roy is fumbling with the keys, clearly not himself. He tells them he's not opening up today and rushes inside. Tyrone remarks he never thought he'd see the day when Roy didn't open the cafe, but Sarah wonders if Roy is all right. Roy stumbles across the cafe, knocking over chairs on the way.

As Adam says goodbye and goes off with Mike, Deirdre turns on Tracey, stating that she feels there's something seriously wrong with her daughter. Tracey thinks it's wonderful that her mother automatically thinks the worst of her, and not of the man involved, but Deirdre knows Roy (and she knows Tracey pretty well too by now!). Tracey eventually tells Deirdre it was a bet to prove to Bev that she could get Roy into bed. Ken, coming in behind them, hears it all, and he's very angry, telling Tracey she has messed up two innocent lives, and she ought to be ashamed of herself.

Alone in his flat, Roy sits at the kitchen table, staring into space.

At the Harris's house, Tommy is asking Katie who the lad is she's seeing. Katie asks what fella? Angela, full of cold, comes downstairs and Tommy tries to enlist her help in finding out who the mystery man is. Angela tells him its probably all in his mind and there is no fella. Katie says that won't work in getting her to spill the beans.

Audrey is with Gail and Sarah asking if they'll help her celebrate her birthday on Friday. Gail can't she's working late, but she can take them all for a pizza on Wednesday. Somewhat deflated, Audrey accepts.

Roy is taking a shower, crying.

Tracey walks into the pub to see Bev. Ciaran and Sunita are in there, kissing and talking about engagement rings. Ciaran can't wait to tell Dev their news, but Sunita says she wants to tell him.

Tracey tells Bev to keep the till open, she owes her 1p, and to prove she got Roy into bed shows Bev Roy's watch and socks. Bev is shocked. She can't believe Tracey really did it and doesn't know whether to take her hat off to her or slap Tracey's face. Bev says she feels sorry for Haley.

Ken goes to see Roy, who at first thinks Ken has gone there because he's angry, as Roy feels Ken has every right to be, and he (Roy) will take full responsibility, and asks Ken to tell Tracey he's sorry. Ken gently asks Roy what did happen? Roy can't remember and cries again.

Tommy is in the pub asking Martin if he has seen Katie hanging round with any fellas at work. Angie comes over and tells Tommy to give it a rest. Martin asks Tommy what makes him think she's seeing anyone. Tommy feels she's behaving differently.

Roy is telling Ken he doesn't usually cry, or indeed display any emotions. Ken tells him it's not his fault, and not to be too hard on himself, nothing happened! Roy asks if Tracey told him that. Ken tells him that it is all Tracey's fault, she got him drunk, she did it to win a bet.

Audrey is chatting to Archie, is he available to help her celebrate her birthday on Friday? Unfortunately, Archie has to go to a casket makers convention. (Or so he says. What fun!)

Dev and Steve come into the pub and see Ciaran and Sunita canoodling. Ciaran calls to Bev to tell Shelley and Peter when she speaks to them, that he and Sunita are following in their footsteps. Then he stands up and makes a big announcement to the whole pub (now that Dev has come in) he and Sunita are getting married!

Tracey is in her room staring pensively at her prize, the penny. Ken calls her downstairs.

Roy is listening to a message from Hayley on the phone, she could be at her auntie's for quite a while yet.

Tracey comes downstairs, remarking that it's like being a teenager again. Ken orders her to go and apologize to Roy, but she refuses point blank. Ken tells her to either do that or get out. Deirdre remarks that she's ashamed of her. Ken asks her again. Still she refuses. So Ken, really cross, tells her to pack her bags and get out!

Wednesday 23 July

Sara tries to get in the cafe but its closed. Ken turns up. Sara bangs on the door and Ray opens it and tells them he is not opening today. Ken asks him for a word. Sunita tells Ciaran that she wishes he hadn't just blurted their news out, its as if he was gloating. Dev pulls up in the car - Ciaran smiles smugly at him. Candice is texting Liam when Maria turns up. Candice tells her she's got a date with Liam tonight.

In the cafe, Ken tells Roy is was just a vicious prank and not too punish himself for it. It was a set-up, and Tracey does not fancy him (who would?). In the pub, Tracey walks into the pub from upstairs and thanks Bev for letting her stay, Bev tells her it will not be for long, Tracey reckons once her dad has calmed down she will be able to move back (in the next couple of days). Bev cant believe that Tracey went through with it. Tracey says her goodbyes and goes out. Ciaran comes into the pub, they're closed but he's not after a drink, he's after a job. Bev says No, she doesn't like or trust him. If she had her way he would not be in there at all.

At the prison, Les and his mate (Arnie) are playing table tennis. Arnie's got to stop as he is being released today. Les thanks him for being a mate and keeping him sane. Les tells him he wants revenge, so does Arnie on the person who stitched him up (he will break legs).

In the Cabin, Deirdre sees Bev and tells her the bet was out of order and Tracey was wrong to sleep with Roy. Oh No, Fiz and Angela were behind her (overhearing) and of course Norris could not help but overhear. Deirdre walks out, while Fiz, Angela and Norris cant believe what they've heard and laugh.

Arnie, just before being released, goes and sees Les offering to get revenge on the copper that set him up. If Les waits they will be in Newcastle by the time he gets out. Les asks how, Arnie says leave them to him and asks for the address. Les, obviously gives it to him - its the one with the 'For Sale' sign up.

In the pub, Martin tells Curly he's going to take Martin camping. Its a cheap holiday. Curly tells Martin that Emma has settled in Newcastle but wishes that he and Ben were up there with her. he's had a few people round, the Estate Agent phoned earlier and someone is coming round tonight (Can we all guess who that is). Fred tried to persuade Bev to take on Ciaran but Bev reckons he's trouble. Fred hasn't seen his son or grandson for a week, he's worked flat out (poor old Fred) and they are short staffed. Bev wont budge. Fred asks Bev to bring up some crates of mixers up, they have run out. Bev looks shocked, Ciaran offers to help her.

Norris is in the cafe buying a cake and thanks 'Casanova', Angela and Fiz order, Angela tells Fiz not to look at Roy incase he jumps into bed with her. Maria goes to chat to Candice, Candice goes to the toilet, Maria quickly texts Liam to cancel the date (on Candice's phone) and rings him (on hers) to arrange a date.

Dev walks into the shop where Sunita has been working on her own, she questions him as to where has he been. If she didn't know better he is avoiding her. They go into the back room where Sunita tells Dev he is jealous, but Dev reckons she is rubbing his nose in it. Dev isn't jealous but in total disbelief that she could marry Ciaran who has no job, nowhere to live, no prospects. She angrily tells Dev that she has never been happier.

Back in the pub, Bev is rushed off her feet and tells Ciaran he has the job. He can start right away. Roy comes in looking for Tracey, she's just popped out but Bev says he can wait round the back. (Bev look embarrassed). Ciaran asks Fred if he can just pop out, he has an errand to run and could he possibly have a sub on his wages (He hasn't done anything yet). How much £50. Fred tells him to be quick.

Gail, Audrey and the kids are out having a meal, at a pizza place. Its a shame they couldn't do it on her birthday though! Maria and Liam walk in and find a table.

Arnie knocks on Curly's door and says he's there to view the house. They go in, Arnie asks who the baby is, Curly doesn't hesitate to tell him that his wife is a copper whose just been promoted and living in Newcastle. In the pub, Ciaran put a ring (a cheap one I expect) into a box. Sunita walks in and shocked that Ciaran is working there, but pleased. How can he get engaged and not have a job. In the pub, Martin tells Curly he's going to take David camping. Audrey and Gail walk in the pub, see Candice, Audrey asks Candice why she's in there, she been stood up, Audrey tells her that she has just seen Liam with Maria in the restaurant. Candice storms out.

Back at Curly's, after been shown round the house, Arnie asks what the neighbours are like. Curly advises that one side is really nice but the other side well he is the rough and ready type! But Arnie can handle himself. Arnie likes the house, and would like to make Curly an offer he cant refuse.................£500 over the asking price CASH. he's got a pregnant daughter. The deal is he takes it off the market and they can move in in a months time. The deal is done and they shake hands.

Tracy comes in the pub, she's got a visitor. Roy asks her what happened, doesn't he know nothing about Human Biology. Roy questions her about the bet, Tracey admits it. Roy is fuming, he is fussing who is sleeps with, Tracy says 'that fussy you sleep with a Trannie' (what a ********) He points out to her that she is the odd ball that him, but she just wanted to prove that he is not as squeaky clean as he likes to think and if 'its' offered to him on a plate he would take it. Tracey tells him that he's just an 'easy lay'.

Candice walks into the restaurant. Finds Liam. What is he doing with Maria. Well, after Candice called off the date, she didn't, Maria admits she did, Candice would do the same. Liam invites Candice to join them. She refuses, picks up a pizza from the table and puts it in Maria's face.

Ken goes to Roy at his flat. Roy has had his worse fear confirmed. Ken tells him do not take all that Tracey says at face value. Roy doesn't really listen, he is an adulterer and even if Hayley can forgive him, can he forgive himself.

That's it for tonight folks.

Friday 25 July

It's 6.45am and Roy sits, alone, unkempt and in obvious distress, at a table in his flat above the cafˇ. His alarm goes off, but he pays it no attention. [Roy would appear to have been sitting there the whole night.]

In the Kabin, Mike is looking for a birthday card - for Audrey - when the lady herself appears. Mike joshes that she can have the card right now and fill the details in herself. [Audrey's face falls, until she realizes that it's a joke.] Mike invites her for lunch, but she can't make it, for Maria is doing her hair then. Never mind; Mike suggests dinner - at Delphine's - tonight, and Audrey smiles a big smile. [Archie, of course, has already booked a table for Audrey and him at Delphine's, as a surprise!]

The Corner Shop, and a grinning Ciaran arrives: the postman has delivered (so he says!) his Granny's engagement ring, which he proceeds to slip on Sunita's finger. Dev is witness to this tender moment, but suspects [correctly] that the ring has no such provenance. Dev walks off, shaking is head...

Vera and Fiz arrive at the cafˇ, which is locked, but the resourceful Fiz rummages in her bag and produces, to Vera's astonishment, a set of keys and wastes no time in letting herself in. [Fiz is very worried about Roy, while Vera is worried about her job.]

Archie pulls up in his car and reminds Gail of his having booked a table at Delphine's for this evening for her Mum and him. Candice and Maria are waiting for Audrey to open the salon, and they squabble about Maria's having filched Liam from Candice's clutches. Maria is welcome to him, snorts Candice.

Todd is working at the Corner Shop and Sarah enters; she's going camping with Martin, so would Todd like to tag along? Todd likes the idea - that's where he and Sarah had their first kiss. Eileen comes in, and Todd wonders why she's never visited him at his flat. She says she hasn't been asked. Todd asks her, this dinner-time. [Eileen reminisces about Todd, as a little boy, crying when his Mum left him at the cubs.]

Fiz talks to Roy, who's still reeling from his recent escapade with Tracy. Fiz offers Roy tea and sympathy, but Roy remains tight-lipped about the events. [The cafˇ is open, but Roy has no intention of working; all he can think of is Hayley and how he has betrayed her trust.]

Downstairs, in the cafˇ, Katy admits to a very interested Tyrone that she's dating an 'older man' from the hospital but, wisely, omits to mention his name. [Just at this point, the mystery 'older man' approaches the counter.] Vera thinks she should go upstairs and 'talk some sense' to Roy, but Fiz dissuades her from this course of action. Sarah asks Martin if Todd can come along on the camping trip - agreed. Katy just happens to appear at the counter, and Sarah organizes a lift to the hospital for her, with Martin...

... and, once they're outside and out of ear-shot, Katy makes her move on Martin - tomorrow night, they're going to spend the night together. [She'll fix it, somehow, she promises.]

Audrey arrives at Gail's, to Happy Birthday greetings. Audrey tells Gail about her dining-out in style this evening - at Delphine's. [Gail's face pales, for she thought it was a secret between her and Archie.] Audrey just manages to explain it's with Mike, before Gail spills the beans. [Close call, that!]

The Nelsons', and Kate arrives home for a quick lunch, and to inform her Mum that she won't be coming home tomorrow night, for there's a girls' night out at the Nurses' Home, with her pals Sue, Jess and Joanne. Katy's Mum is not taken in - she knows that 'a lad' must be there somewhere, for that's what she used to try when she was a girl. Katy swans off, determined to go to the 'party', no matter what her Mum says. [Tommy, of course, is not 'in' on this, as yet. I predict stormy waters ahead for Katy and 'the lad'!]

Gail rushes in to see Archie in the Rovers, and blurts out Audrey's plans for this evening, with Mike, chez Delphine. Ken asks Vera, who's passing, how Roy is, and Vera reckons that it's all the fault of their erring daughter that Roy is in such a state. Deirdre admits that Tracy is no angel [mmm, perhaps not] but that it takes two. Vera mumbles something about Deirdre knowing that... Ken sighs.

Todd welcomes his Mum to his humble abode. A plant is offered and accepted. After a few awkward moments, the two decide to make up their differences and it's hugs and more hugs. Todd asks his Mum to respect his decisions about his life, and Eileen agrees.

The Kabin, and Fiz implores Rita [whom she calls a 'wise old bird who's been round the block a few times'!] to go and talk to Roy. Norris hovers in the background, but Rita chases him off.

Archie eventually catches up with Mike in the Rovers and pleads with him to cancel his dinner booking at Delphine's, which Mike does. Sunita sits and simpers about her engagement ring; she can feel the good vibes from it. [Ciaran seems short on details about his family.] Sunita wonders when their wedding will be, and seems disappointed when Ciaran mentions something about next year. Archie thanks Mike for his collusion, and promises that Mike's funeral will be 'on the house'. [Now, that would brighten anyone's day, don't you think?]

Audrey, coming out of the Salon, calls Delphine's to check the time of the booking for Baldwin, only to be told that the booking has been cancelled.

Rita tries to comfort poor Roy, who's full of self-abasement for what he's done. Rita points out that what happened is only on the say-so of Tracy, and that he's a kind man, decent, caring and gentle. Hayley would agree with all that, Rita says.

Chez Delphine, Archie sits on his own. Flowers arrive, but Audrey doesn't...

... but she flounces into the Rovers, convinced that Mike has made a fool of her. Audrey even buys her own gin and tonic, and refuses even to speak or listen to Mike. Dev suggests to Sunita that the ring she sports on her finger may not be the family heirloom she thinks it is. Sunita reacts by telling Dev that she's moving out of the flat, right now. Mike manages to persuade Audrey that someone is waiting for her chez Delphine, so Audrey goes off into the night to her mystery date.

At the hospital, Katy tells Martin that tomorrow night is all arranged. Martin thinks the National Health Service is great, and another clinch ensues in a cupboard.

Back at Delphine's, and Archie is just about to leave for home when Audrey enters. Champagne is ordered.

In the Rovers, Jason asks his Mum about Todd's flat. Eileen admits to being impressed, but her joy is confined when Jason says he won't be able pay her his weekly payment for the car this week; double next week. Fiz asks Rita how she found Roy, but Rita's opinion is that Roy is hurting so much that it'll take a long time for his wounds to heal. [Tracy is seen in the background, sipping a glass of something. Let's hope it's hemlock!] Fiz spies the harridan and immediately confronts her face to face. Fiz tries to talk to Tracy, but is met with such derision that Fiz resorts to executive action, and delivers a strong right-hook to Tracy's arrogant jaw. Tracy crumples to the floor, and hears Fiz's awful warning to her that, if she messes with Roy ever again, she'll kill her. [The writer immediately signs-up for Fiz's fan club!!]

Back to the quiet cachet of Delphine's, Audrey has had a wonderful evening. Archie has too. As they sit at the table, with soothing music and subdued lighting, Archie cannot contain himself: marry me, he asks of an amazed Audrey. Archie has saved up a 'few bob' and the world could be their oyster, together. At first, Audrey shakes her head, but it's in disbelief, not a refusal. Audrey promises Archie that her answer will be a definite maybe.

Monday 28 July

It's morning at Martin's flat and he's collecting up his bits and pieces for his camping trip with David, Sarah, Todd and Bethany. Katy comes in asking if he's ready. He can't find his boots, Katy has a knowing smirk. Martin asks what she's done, and she says "Don't go!" But he has to, little Bethany's heart will be broken if he calls it off now. They agree it was good waking up together, but it won't be the last time. Katy tells him to think of her every evening at 9 o'clock and she'll be thinking of him too. He tells her she can ring and leave saucy messages on his mobile phone. Katy goes off. (She never did tell Martin where his boots were!)

Audrey is opening up the salon and picking up the post. There's a card from Archie but her face falls when she opens it and sees a long letter inside.

Katy comes home to find her Mum and Dad there. Tommy demands to know where Katy was all night. Katy tells him she stayed at the nurses home with her friend Joanne because she'd had too much to drink. Tommy is angry and Katy becomes sarcastic and flounces off upstairs.

Gail and Audrey are sitting at Gail's table. Audrey is worried because Archie isn't answering his land line phone or his mobile. Audrey shows Gail the card but Gail thinks Archie is probably enjoying two weeks on the Costa del Sol. Audrey tells her that Deirdre met him and he seemed very upset. Gail remarks that Deirdre probably wants to twist the knife, after all Audrey was the cause of Archie breaking her mother's heart. However, Audrey feels guilty and wishes she had a chance to talk to Archie and put things right between them.

At Eileen's house Jason, with arm in sling, is about to make his mum a cup of tea. Eileen tells him he should be resting that arm. He apologizes for not being able to give her the car repayment money but she says they'll just have to tighten their belts for a few weeks. She asks what the insurance company said. Jason, looking guilty, tells her he hasn't called them yet. Eileen sympathizes if he couldn't face it, and tells him never mind, call them in the morning.

In the cafe Fizz is buying cakes from Roy. Fizz tells him she spoke to Hayley last night, who told her Roy hasn't called. Roy says he has tried, and Fizz tells him Hayley wondered as her uncle's a bit deaf and doesn't always hear the phone, so maybe he should let it ring longer next time.

Candice and Tyrone are sitting at a table, with Candice bemoaning the fact that all her friends are on holiday, and will be coming back tanned and gorgeous. Tyrone points out that Sarah has gone camping with her dad and child. Tommy comes up, making it obvious he wants to talk to Tyrone. Candice makes herself scarce. Tommy asks Tyrone if he went to the party at the nurses home, and if he knows this 'Jimmy' that Katy is hanging about with. Tyrone says he can't help and perhaps he should ask Martin - but of course, Martin is away.

Katy comes in to find Angie preparing the meal. They get talking. Angie asks if Katy had a good time last night. Katy says it was a great night. Angie guesses she slept with 'Jimmy'. Katy admits she did and it wasn't the first time. She assures Angie that she didn't just jump into bed with him, she won't get pregnant and that he's a good person, he looks out for her. Angie wonders if they shouldn't meet him then. "Yeah right!" states Katy, "Dad meet the guy who took my virginity!" Just then Tommy comes in asking what's on the menu. He guesses it's a secret tonight!

In the shop Karen is buying some frozen meals. Sunita comes in and hands Dev the keys to her flat. Dev tells her he offered her a home, a refuge, and now she's throwing the keys back in his face. Sunita tells him she's giving them back with thanks, Dev helped her get back on her feet. Dev remarks bitterly that as soon as she could walk she ran off with another man. Sunita points out he's her fiance, Dev's her boss and she'd like to remain friends. Dev tells her the keys will be on the hook behind the door any time she needs them, day or night. (Something tells me she might!)

A taxi pulls up outside Eileen's house. Tony hobbles out on crutches (the result of Jason's accident) with Merle pulling suitcases and bags out onto the pavement. She knocks at the door, Eileen opens it. Merle launches into how they were going to Lanzarote, Eileen tells her to send a postcard and starts to shut the door. Merle stops her, she's angry. Everything was fine until Jason came along, now her home isn't her own, her bloke's on his uppers and the holiday is off. He even broke her foot spa! She tells Eileen she can play happy families, he's all hers, she's leaving him there, it's over.

Karen and Dev watch all this from the shop doorway. Karen hints to Dev that he might need some more staff, but he assures her he doesn't.

Merle knocks Tony's crutch away and he falls flat on his back on the pavement. She jumps into the taxi and departs. Eileen shuts the front door. Jason protests, that's his dad, they can't just leave him there. Eileen can, she knows she'll end up paying for him. Jason says he's still got one good arm, he'll earn some money. Tony peers through the letter box. He'll pay his way, he's got savings. Eileen opens the door and enquires: "What savings?" he tells her his No. 1 fund, for looking after No. 1. She shuts the door again. He posts three ten pound notes through the door. Eileen opens the door and tells him he can come in, as a temporary arrangement, as Jason's guest.

Audrey is in the Rover's, showing Fred Archie's card. She tells him she went cold when she read it. Fred asks if Archie told her where he was going, but he didn't, just away, he wanted to travel. Audrey wonders if she should go over to his house in case he hasn't yet gone, but Fred dissuades her, telling her it will only make her feel better and Archie worse, she only wants to go out of pity and guilt.

Dev comes into the pub, wondering if he's entered a parallel universe, seeing customers in the Rovers drinking cocktails. He sees Steve there and tells him to sort Karen out, she's been hinting for a job and seeing as they are business partners it would be too 'incestuous'.

Katy is in the phone box, leaving Martin a saucy message on his phone. As she comes out she bumps into Roy. They talk about her job at the hospital and then she asks what he's been up to lately! Ooops! She then realizes what she's said and apologizes. Roy hurries off as Candice and Tyrone come along, eating chips. What is Katy doing, flirting with Roy? Tyrone tells Katy her dad's been around, so Candice huffily makes herself scarce, again. Tyrone says that Tommy's been asking him for info on this 'Jimmy' character. Katy's sorry, she'll sort it.

Karen, Ciaran and Sunita are giggling over their cocktails. Steve asks Karen what she was doing, angling for a job in the corner shop. She tells him they're 8k down and she needs to make a living. So Steve tells her that at 9 o'clock in the morning he's taking her down to the job centre to find a job she's qualified to do.

Deirdre and Audrey are chatting. Audrey asks if Blanche knows about Archie leaving. Deirdre she tells him she does, and was disappointed, he brought a sparkle to her day.

Jason and his dad, Tony, are comparing their pain. Jason calls his mum to asks if it's time for his dad's next painkillers, and while she's there could she get him a beer. Eileen makes a sarcastic reply, so Jason gets up to get the beer himself. He drops one out of the fridge and Eileen picks it up, shaking it behind Jason's back. Then she gives it to Tony who opens it and gets covered in beer with the explosion!

Angela and Tommy are talking about Katy. He's knows they're sharing secrets. She tells him that if he wants Katy to talk to him, first he must listen, and be prepared to hear things he may not like. Angie tells him the relationship is serious. He asks if they've slept together, realizes they have and yells for Katy to come downstairs. Katy comes down. Tommy asks if she was forced into it, did he take advantage? Katy tells him she hunted 'Jimmy' down, but Tommy is furious, where is he, he's going round to see him. Katy won't say, so Tommy says he's going down to the hospital, there can't be many porters called Jimmy. In a panic Katy says she made it all up, he doesn't work at the hospital, it was just a one night stand. Tommy asks sarcastically if she's now the local bike. Angela reminds Tommy he said he wouldn't do this, but Tommy storms out, saying when he finds him he'll break his neck!

Wednesday 30 July

Hid dad tells him to get it done on the cheap, it will only cost £150 tops!!! At the taxi rank, Eileen is moaning at Steve, about her lodger, has she got MUG tattooed to her forehead, the mans a slob. Karen walks in and has a go at Steve for not waking her. She needs a job to avoid them getting deeper into debt (Eileen knows that feeling - don't we all!). Its all Karen's fault that they are in this mess. Steve says just repay him in kind, She's serious, so is he. Karen storms off to the job centre.

Katy and Craig are in the cafe, Katy is sick and tired of being treated like a child, She's thinking about leaving home to live with her new boyfriend. Craig asks who is it, but she wont tell. Vera comes to take their order, thinking that this place is not good enough for Katy any more. Vera tells her they are rushed off their feet since a member of staff has walked out, and Roy has got enough on his plate. Craig asks Vera if Roy really slept with Tracey, Vera says NO, he was knobbled. Vera asks Roy if he is OK? Yeah he is!! Jack would be happy man if what happened to Roy happened to him. Vera said he would coz she would kill him. Vera would like to lock Tracey up. Roy tells Jack that honesty is the best policy and he is going to tell Hayley, Jack tells him to keep quiet. The phone rings in the cafe, Vera picks it up, its Hayley, Roy asks Vera to pretend he's not there. Vera tells Hayley he will ring when he gets back.

In the garage, Tommy and Kev are chatting about daughters! Tommy and Kev remember what it was like when they were teenagers. Tommy says he will kill when he finds out who the mystery boyfriend was. Kirk goes to the garage and offers Tyrone a free week in Blackpool, he cant because of Maz.. Jason turns up asking Tyrone for a favour.

In the cabin, Sally buying sweets for Rosie, She's staying round her friends. Rosy is depressed that she didn't get in the play, Sally, not because She's her mother, thinks that Rosy has got the best voice in the school. Rita gives Sally a number for Drama and Acting classes. Tracy walks into the shop and Sally asks her where She's been for the last week, she cant cope on her own. Rita says she feeling guilty, Tracey denies it, what has she got to feel guilty about. Tracy says that Hayley wont want him now.

Tyrone looks at Jason's car, it needs a new chassis etc., it will cost a fortune. Jason asks if he could do it on the side, but he's not going to get on the wrong side of Kevin again.

Fiz moaning to her work colleagues about the boys holiday. Mike wants a word, there's O/T at lunchtime, the girls do not want it.

Mr Poole visits Curly, he was in the area, no-one has heard anything about the move, as long as Mr Poole hasn't got 2nd thoughts, he hasn't and will be in touch. Sally goes to see Kev in the garage, and tells him about him about the conversation with Rita, Kevin doesn't think its a good idea. Sally is going to do it anyway. Mr Poole get a call on his mobile, and yes his plan is underway, the surveyor will be round soon.

In the taxi office, Eileen moaning about Jason's car. Karen walks in, there's only one job, in a small knicker factory!!!!!! Tommy comes home for lunch, he moans to Angela about Katy. Katy has shut yourself in her room. Tommy says she too young to be so serious with boyfriends. Fizz goes to see Roy. Fizz tells him that Hayley is worried about him. Fizz tells him to ring Roy and avoiding her is making the situation just as bad. Roy says he has to be honest with her.

No one is in, so Katy rings Martin. Tommy walks in so Katy puts the phone down. Tommy asks Katy who was on the phone but Katy is annoyed that people are earwigging her conversations. Angela tells Tommy to stop winding Katy up. Tommy is so annoyed that he goes looking for the phone number that she left when she slept out the other night.

Roy rings Hayley, he has been busy, they are short staffed. He is missing her as well. How is Aunt Madge? The wedding would have been better with her! When is she coming home? Roy says I Love You but has to go as Vera is calling him (she isn't).

Eileen finishes work and goes home. The place is tidy, and Jason tells her that dinner will be ready in 5 mins. Why? Jason tells her he's got problems, he cant get the car fixed, the insurance wont pay up! Eileen will get on the phone, Jason Dad told him to tell the truth so he did. Jason promises to sort it out but how?

Tommy finds the number and rings it. Tyrone's phone rings, Tyrone thinks its Kirk. Tommy shouts 'ITS TYRONE' Tommy puts the phone down, he's going to kill him,. Tommy storms to the Garage and thumps Tyrone. Kev steps in. Katy tells Tyrone she is sorry, Tyrone tells her to tell the truth. Katy says that if her dad knows the truth it would be 10 times worse.

Thats it folks

Hope you enjoyed it
