Wednesday 2 October

Friday 4 October

Morning on the street, and Joe just happens to meet Geena. He's desperate to find out what happened between her and Dev, but he'll have to wait till later. Tonight?

Over at the Corner Shop, Deirdre and Sunita watch the pair and wonder what's going on. Sunita is still a bit cool towards Deirdre, who doesn't seem to notice.

Chez Hillman, where Audrey is wondering out loud to Gail how she managed to get a correct electricity bill when her meter hadn't been read. [Oh, yes, it has, Audrey!] It's Sarah's first day at the Salon, and Ade's first day at the garage. Ade goes off to see Mr Barlow and Audrey tells Sarah that, when they're in the Salon, Sarah has to call her Audrey - more professional, she claims. [Gran sounds ok to me.] Richard arrives, all smiles, and asks Audrey how she is. Audrey is going to ask Richard about her electricity bill ("Richard knows about these things" - indeed he does!!), but Gail reckons he has enough on his plate at the moment. [Watch this space...]

In the factory office, Geena tells Joe about her evening with Dev, and that he'd thrown her out after seeing through her subterfuge. Geena feels cheap and dirty, while Joe contemplates losing his freedom, again.

Les' house, and Les receives unwelcome news in a letter - he's to be allocated a one-bedroom flat in the Weatherfield Hall Estate where, according to Les, the pensioners go around in gangs. Kirk selfishly wonders where he'll stay if Les is evicted.

The Corner Shop, and Dev hasn't arrived for work. [Oh, he works, then?] Jason pesters Vik for another tip, but Vik is not very amicable at the moment. Sunita secretly phones Dev, only to get his answering machine. However, she picks up a pile of paperwork and pretends to Deirdre that Dev's working from home today, so she'll deliver the papers to him, personally, leaving Deirdre to cope on her own. [Very well-staffed corner shop!]

Ade meets Mr Barlow at the garage, where Ken asks him to 'observe and absorb'. Ade meets Tyrone for the first time. [Hate at first sight...]

Sunita arrives at Dev's flat with the unnecessary files, but Dev is pleased to see her.

Back at the Hillman household. Richard is busy on his laptop, as Gail shows a 'client' into the room. Richard looks aghast, to see Charlotte Morris, Patricia's best friend, all the way from Australia to attend the funeral. It was she who had reported Patricia missing, and she's here to 'tie up loose ends'. (Richard looks terrified - wonder why?)

Dev's flat, and Sunita is being a very concerned friend as they discuss the latest twist in the Geena-Joe-Dev triangle.

Richard tries to answer Charlotte's questions, but he has his wits about him and explains that he has two options; one, to accept that Patricia's death was a horrible accident or, two, to go mad trying to work out what happened. [No prizes for which one he chooses.] Charlotte would like to help, but Richard assures her that he's taken care of everything. She asks to speak to the funeral director, but Richard can't recall his number. Gail helpfully obliges with Archie's business card. Charlotte is tired and is going back to her hotel for a sleep, so the gallant Richard offers her a lift, which she declines ("You've done enough", she states) and exits for a taxi.

In the Rovers, Joe arrives for a pint and Geena wonders, grumpily, if they still have to pretend. Shelley draws Geena aside for some well-chosen words of wisdom about relationships - "these things have a habit of getting out", Shelley tells her... Vik is a popular guy at the moment with the regulars, all of whom want to buy him drinks. Kirk enters with the news that Les is about to be evicted, but Fiz says that he can squeeze in with her.

Chez Hillman, and Gail asks Richard why Charlotte and he didn't seem very friendly. Simple explanation - according to Richard, Charlotte was Patricia's best friend and always took her side in any argument.

In the garage, Ade takes a phone call from a potential customer and seems very confident, much to Tyrone's annoyance. Les brings his taxi in for service, and goes off for a sleep but, as he crosses the street, Toyah meets him. He tells her that he's tired of fighting - "Goodnight, Vienna"...

Gail tries to get Richard to agree to let Charlotte do something for Patricia's funeral, even maybe ordering the flowers. Richard is not keen, for he 'has made all the arrangements' himself. [He sure has!]

Dev and Sunita eventually get back to the Corner Shop to meet a livid Deirdre, who demands to know what is going on, even though Ken is there too. Dev responds by giving Deirdre the afternoon off with Ken [wow!!] and even throws in a bottle of wine...

Rovers. Vik tells Steve about his plans for an imminent holiday to Ibiza, to visit Sam. Steve refuses. The hapless Les arrives, and Janice feels a bit guilty for dropping him into bother with the Council; however, she tells him 'straight' (Kirk's line, not mine!) that she's no longer responsible for him.

Ade's first day at the garage and he thinks he looks sexy in his overalls, he tells Sarah. Tyrone compliments Ade on the tea he's just supplied him with. [Good on ya, Tyrone!]

In the street, Joe and Geena again discuss the way forward, and Joe has one more ruse up his sleeve to keep him out of jail. Dev arrives at the shop and sees them together...

... but, entering the shop, he tells Sunita that he doesn't care about Geena any more. Sunita suggests to Dev that, if he were to drop the charges, that would punish Geena even more than seeing Joe in prison - leave them to it. Dev considers this strategy for a moment and concludes - "let her rot with him". He'll drop the charges. Sunita looks pleased... [I wonder why!!]

Gail arrives home latish, after evening surgery, but the ever-thoughtful Richard has a nice bottle of wine opened for them. (Sarah and David are tucked-up in bed too, so everything is peaceful.) The doorbell rings. Charlotte enters and has one request to make of Richard which is important to her - she'd like to see Patricia one last time, which would help her grieve. [Richard's face pales into significance.]

Sunday 6 October

In the Rovers Joe tells Gina that he is worried that he is going to be arrested. Gina says he should be ok, he has not been charged yet. However Joe says it is still hanging over him.

Les tells Peter, so that Janice overhears him, that he is facing eviction in the face and he does not know what to do.

Toyah is talking to Fizz about the flat. She says it is cosy with just the two of them, and they wouldn't want to increase the number. Fizz says that she won't let Kirk stay and she shouldn't let Les stay.

Charlotte wants to go and see Patricia's body. Richard tires to put her off. She says she has come all the way from Australia and feels she wants to say he last goodbye.

Archie invites Audrey for a drink, but she has other things on her mind and says she is too busy.

Richard (now clutching at straws) rings Archie suggesting it would be traumatic for Charlotte to go and see the body. Archie says what was traumatic for him maybe a relief for someone else. Richard goes to the kitchen and secretes a knife up his sleeve (uh oh!). Then just as they are ready to go to the mortuary the police call round. It seems they have checked the dental records of the body and it is not Patricia.

There is loud music blaring from Fizz and Toyah's flat. Audrey tried knocking on the door to no avail, so she calls from the street but there is no response. Maria is back and is playing the music.

Gail and Charlotte wonder how Richard could have been so mistaken. The police explain that when he identified the body he was full of emotion and had tears in his eyes. This with the fact that the body would have been lifeless is how he could have been mistaken. When asked why they didn't check the dental records in the first place, it seems they can't identify anybody by the dental records, however they can tell it is not someone when the dental records do not match (I think that makes sense!).

Audrey goes to the cafe see Toyah and complains about Fizz being in the flat with the radio blaring. Then she turns round and sees Fizz. She wonders how this can be, and tells her that she must have left the radio on. Both Fizz and Toyah deny it. They all go back to the flat. Charlotte leaves the Platts knowing it is not Patricia.

Richard bumps into Maria as she is leaving the flat. He asks where Nick is, and she tells him that she has left him.

Audrey goes into the flat with Fizz and Toyah; there is no music. She is very confused and distressed.

Roy is talking to Curly about the proposed amusement arcade. At the same time Audrey is crossing the road and is almost knocked over by a car.

Kirk asks Peter if he knows a good florist because he wants to send off some flowers. Shelley says he does, he has sent her some nice bunches recently. Peter pretends he can't remember the shop, and Shelley says he has her business card in his wallet. Peter is suspicious that Shelley is looking into his wallet, until she tells him that he asked her to get something out of it.

Audrey tells Archie that she is imagining things as well as forgetting things now.

Maria comes back and lets herself into the flat, and is welcomed by Toyah and Fizz.

Kirk asks Peter to ring the flower shop.

Joe says to Dev that if he drops the charges against himself he can have Gina. Dev calls him sick.

Peter gets Shelley and Kirk to get some drinks from the bar. He then speaks with Lucy and tells her who he is.

Archie thinks is if Audrey has worries then she should talk to others in her family. Richard is there and suggests she talks with him. She tells him all what has happened recently. She is convinced she is going senile. Richard comforts her.

Wednesday 9 October

Friday 11 October

Evening on the street, and Rita wonders why Norris is still hanging around outside the Kabin. (Could it be "chercher la femme"?) Norris warns Rita of the dangers of robbers, who will not be deterred by a little dog, Mr Woo. Rita reminds Norris that this 'little dog' once terrified him!

In the Rovers, Geena is late, but Shelley tells Fred that she's had some personal problems recently, so make allowances. Geena eventually puts in an appearance, and apologises for being late - she had 'things to sort out'. Fred threatens to dock her wages, but he won't - he's too soft, he claims, I say he's too soft...

In the Corner Shop, Deirdre is looking forward to a meal out with Ken. (How much excitement can a girl take?) Sunita reckons that Deirdre's lucky to have someone to go home to. Deirdre insists on Sunita the need for secrecy about her 'fling' with Dev and, in return, Deirdre will keep secret Sunita's feelings for Dev. A deal is struck.

Chez Hillman, where Richard is trying talk Gail into going on holiday with him to Spain [Andalucia] to a villa. Oh, with another couple - Chris and Toni Melton. Gail doesn't know them, and isn't keen on the idea, but Richard assures her that they're great company, and she'll meet them in the Rovers tonight.

Jason is outside cleaning his motorbike when Eileen gets home. Todd arrives home too, to be told by his Mum that she's set up a savings account for him so that he won't be deprived when he goes to Oxbridge [as she calls it]. Eileen is convinced that her son is going to Oxbridge, but Todd is not so sure. Jason offers to accept the money, if Todd fails to get to Oxbridge, but Eileen reckons he's done nothing to deserve it, and slaps him [playfully] around the chops!

In the Rovers, Shelley and Geena share a rare laugh. [One of the punters has told Geena that he fancies Shelley - his bodywork may be a bit tacky, but his engine's in good nick!] Geena tells Shelley that she's going to get on with her life (... as opposed to getting on my nerves!!) Mike and Joe arrive to talk shop, and Geena offers to serve them, with a smile.

The girls' flat, where Maria has moved in again with, apparently, Audrey's consent, much to Fiz's disgust. Maria now seems to have a succession of boyfriends since her return from Canada after dumping Nick.

Sarah excitedly tells Ade about the imminent Spanish trip - can they meet each other tonight? Ade's going to help his Dad tonight, he says, but they'll have a whole week together next week...

Dev arrives in the Rovers, and greets Mike and 'The Bird Man of Alcatraz' [Joe]. He goads Joe and, in a loud voice, tells all and sundry what a low life he is for having treated Geena the way he did. Geena runs off tearfully into the back room, while Mike and Joe make a hasty exit, leaving Dev to face the wrath of Shelley, who warns him that "one more word, and you'll be barred!" A distraught Geena overhears the shouting match, and wonders about her future in Weatherfield...

Later, we're back in the Rovers, and Audrey hears about Richard's plan to whisk Gail off to Spain. Not only does she approve, but offers to go in Gail's place. [Joke!! I think...] Audrey promises to look after the children while Richard and Gail have a holiday - no problem. Geena comes back behind the bar, since her two warring ex-lovers have gone; she wants to go home, but Shelley persuades her to stay, for a while at least.

The girls' flat, where Toyah's attempts to work are disturbed by Maria's playing of loud music. Maria intimates that she's going to ask for a job at Underworld, but Fiz warns her that she'd need experience. Maria [the claws are out!] haughtily informs Fiz that, if she can get a job there... Fiz exits, hurt, but not before calling Maria a 'stuck-up cow'. Toyah makes it clear to the little 'stuck-up cow' that there is more to Fiz than meets the eye - Fiz is not a loser.

The Rovers again, and Richard's friends, Chris and Toni, arrive. Gail says to Toni that it was so kind of them to invite then to Spain, but Toni obviously doesn't understand what Gail's talking about, and the ever-wily Richard steers the conversation in another direction. (Oh dear - another Ricardian ploy perhaps?) Chris and Toni sit down, while Gail and Richard get the drinks in, and Chris whispers to Toni about some 'hush hush' deal. Drinks are served and its "Here's to Andalucia". Maria enters, looking for her bloke of the evening. She regales Geena with details of her new-found freedom, and life, after dumping Nick, and adds the final thought that, if women don't take control of their lives, they deserve all they get. Geena beats a hasty [and tearful] retreat into the back room...

... where Shelley offers some solace, and the keys to her flat. They'll chat later.

Geena exits by the back door, but is intercepted by the macho Dev, who tries a ham-handed attempt at a reconciliation with the hapless Geena who, as soon as she gets to Shelley's flat, slams the door in his face.

Back at the girls' flat, where Toyah and Fiz have a heart-to-heart chat. Toyah tells Fiz that, well, she didn't quite like her at first, but she does now and, now that the three are sharing the flat, they should try to get on with each other. Fiz looks pleased. (Awwww!!)

Geena has a tearful evening in Shelley's flat, and turns to the vodka bottle for some solace...

In the Rovers, Shelley short-changes Chris, and apologises to him. Fred tells Shelley to go home and see that Geena is alright.

Chez Hillman, and Candice arrives bearing gifts. (Well, two bags of chips, to be exact.) Candice tells Sarah that Ade hates his Dad, so won't be helping him. However, they seal their friendship by sharing a can of something, and their chips...

Shelley gets home, and she and Geena share a few home truths; Maria was right, and Geena has no place any more in Weatherfield, so she's leaving - time to move on with her life. Shelley tries, in vain, to talk Geena around, but she's made up her mind...

Rita is taking Emily out for a few drinks in the Rovers. Emily is going to work in the Kabin while Rita is off on her cruise, so Rita needs some practice in drinking. (Mmmm... methinks Rita is up-to-speed on that one!) Deirdre and Ken arrive back from their meal in a taxi, and Ken notices that his car is not parked the way he left it earlier. However, Deirdre takes his mind off that little local difficulty with the promise of delights to come...

A still-tearful Geena strides homewards along the street, and Joe shouts after her to talk to him. She refuses, and tells him that her life, from now on, will not include him.

Sunday 13 October

The Hillmans are preparing for their holiday to Spain, and the wily Richard is again apologising to Gail for all he's put her through recently. Of course, he also admits to having the best interests of the family at heart. Gail warns Sarah and David to behave for their Gran while they're gone. Richard gently reminds them that she's not as young as she used to be.

In their flat, Shelley is telling Peter how worried she is about Geena - where she's going to go, what she's going to do. Shelley has to go off to work because of Geena's sudden departure, so Peter picks up the phone immediately she's out the door... (Lucy, perhaps?)

In the Kabin, Norris is attempting to train an unwilling Emily in the latest innovations in retail management when Rita arrives in a bad mood - Diane Black (Mr Woo's owner) has decided to swan off to America and Mr Woo [a proper little shih tzu] will be arriving shortly.

In the Corner Shop, Emma tells Sunita that she's going for promotion. Audrey is looking for a box of decent tea bags, which the ever-caring Richard finds and pays for. Richard is concerned that Audrey will be able to cope with the children, and Audrey reassures him that she'll be fine. Dev arrives, to a caring Sunita, but he reminds her that she's just an employee and he'll have to try to forget Geena and get on with his life...

Les meets up with Janice and tries to get her to co-operate with him in convincing the council that they're back together, but Janice is not going to help. 'They hate me on that estate", says Les, and Janice counters with "They hate you here!" He has the little dog in the back of his taxi and Mr Woo has just left a little deposit on the seat. (Oh, Mr Woo!!)

Sarah and Candice both discuss Ade. Les arrives at the Kabin with the little doggie and charges 20 pounds for the fare - 5 pounds for the taxi and 15 pounds to clean up. Rita welcomes Mr Woo with open arms...

Chez Hillman again, where Audrey is writing a list of things to do in a notepad. Richard slips out to buy a paper. Gail wonders if her Mum will cope but Audrey says that she's looking forward to it. (So are Sarah and David!)

In the Rovers, everyone asks where Geena is, which annoys Fred. Kirk offers himself for a job as barman, which is declined. Rita threatens to cancel her cruise with Mavis on account of Mr Woo, but Emily will look after him in her absence - no kennels are necessary. Norris arrives with drinks and Mr Woo gives him a growl of welcome. Dev arrives and he too asks for Geena. Shelley snaps at him - "She's well rid!" - and Dev beats a hasty retreat.

Richard is seen lurking in the street and eventually he lets himself into the Salon which, of course, is closed...

Gail is still reminding David about his behaviour, while Audrey adds to her list, before she remembers something she has to do and rushes off, to the Salon...

... where Richard is busy altering entries in the appointments book [She's behind you, Richard!].However, Audrey meets Martin outside the Salon and informs him of the Spanish trip. Martin can't help with the kids during the week, for he's too busy, and Audrey returns to Gail's, leaving the horrible Richard time to turn all the taps on, and make a quiet exit.

Peter and Lucy enjoy a quiet walk in a park, when a woman is mugged by two boys. Peter gives chase.

In the Rovers, Joe buys drinks for some of the girls, and apologises to Hayley for his recent behaviour. Les enters, to warn Kirk that he might have to find somewhere else to stay. Janice still refuses to help Les in his dilemma.

Richard arrives back at the happy family home, just as Audrey is telling about her encounter with Martin. Not to worry, Richard is here, with a box of chocolates for Audrey. [What a nice man!]

A breathless Peter has lost the muggers, and pays for a taxi for the poor victim, who insists on having his name and address so that she can repay him. She leaves in the taxi, thanking Lucy and her 'husband' for their kindness...

Ade is just about to steal Ken's car again, when he's interrupted by a taxi, for Rita. Norris makes himself useful by carrying her cases to the car and Mr Woo thanks him with a snap.

In the Corner Shop, Sunita again tries to console Dev, but he only thanks her for her friendship.

Another taxi, this time for the Hillmans. Audrey thanks him for being such a good friend. Oops! Richard has left the passports on the table and nips back in to retrieve them, taking advantage of the situation to remove the notepad and pocket it. (Audrey's list.) In Les' taxi, Richard detects a smell.[Could it be a rat?] Ade arrives and whisks Sarah off, leaving Audrey almost literally holding the baby. The taxi trundles off, with Gail wondering if her Mum will cope. "She has her list", Richard reminds her...

Wednesday 16 October

Friday 18 October

Les' house, and he's instructing Kirk to stay out of the way this afternoon, for he's managed to persuade Janice to be there when the [non-existent!] Housing Officer arrives. Les imagines [wrongly] that Janice will fall into his arms when he turns on the 'Battersby charm'. (Now, there's two words I never thought I'd type in the same sentence.)

Chez Barlow, and Ken has received a second speeding ticket, different date, time and place.

Hillman household, and Sarah and David are pleased to have Martin back, albeit on a temporary basis. David asks Martin for a few quid toward a school trip, just as Audrey arrives to help out with household chores. Martin goes off to his flat for some things and David cons his Gran out a few quid. (For the same school trip!)

The Watts' home, and Emma (looking very well-dressed) is dreading her interview for possible promotion to Inspector. Little Ben gurgles in his Dad's arms as she leaves, with Curly's good wishes.

Kirk meets Janice in the street, and she's complaining about the Council snooping on them. Maybe she ought to phone and complain? Kirk doesn't think that would be a good idea. Sarah and Candice have a row. Sarah has a secret, about Ade, and won't tell, so Candice storms off to school alone. [Ade has been 'joy-riding' in Ken's car.]

Roy bursts into Curly's, to inform him about workmen in Sally's old shop. No, they're not carrying any fruit machines in, he admits, and Curly assures Roy that the proposed Games Arcade will be discussed at the next Council meeting. (That's all right, then!)

In the Kabin, Norris is left to dog-sit Mr Woo [the little shih tzu] while Emily goes into town. Mr Woo shows his appreciation by growling menacingly at his temporary carer. (Is Mr Woo's bite worse than his growl - will we find out?)

In the Rovers, Shelley and Fred are pleased with their new barmaid, Maria, who seems very keen. Kirk arrives and is surprised to find his sister working behind the bar. Les enters, and Kirk tells him of Janice's threat to phone the Council, but Les is convinced that his cunning ruse will work. Harry offers to get a crate of lager from the cellar for Shelley. Les approaches Janice, just to check that she'll be at the house this afternoon. Yes, she will, but she'll want paying...

Emma arrives home - she didn't get the job. She expects some comfort from Curly, but he's more concerned about Ben, who's been crying constantly all morning. [He's teething.] Emma tells Curly that some idle slob, Simon Harper, got the job instead of her, but he seems to be more concerned about little Ben.

Janice arrives at the former marital home, to find Les bedecked in his dressing gown. And there are lit candles on a tidy table. Les comes straight to the point. If they're going to convince the Housing Officer of their co-habitation, she should get her kit off (ever the romantic, Les!) and, well... Janice has an alternative strategy to convince the Officer. They should have a blazing row.

Chez Watts, where Ben is still crying and they've run out of Calpol. (Advertising allowed here?) However, Emma accuses Curly of not being interested in her career, and a ding-dong row ensues.

Back to Les and Janice, and Les suggests they have a can of lager each, as they sit side by side on the sofa. (So fa and no further, I think!)

The row escalates in the Watts' home, with accusations and counter-accusations, ending up with Emma exiting via a slammed door. [Ben is crying upstairs.]

Ken is on the phone to the local police, regarding his two speeding tickets, but they refuse to discuss the problem with him. Deirdre smiles and suggests to Ken that, if he did speed a couple of times, it would make him more exciting. Maybe. (At this point, a pink pig flew past my window.)

David arrives home to the wrath of Martin, who has heard about his scam to screw a few quid out of his Gran for his alleged school trip. (How much is a one-way ticket?)

Sarah and Ade have a few words with each other about his 'joy-riding' in Mr Barlow's car. He sees no danger, or problem, with this, as he won't be caught. Sarah pleads with him to stop it, but he admits that he doesn't like being told what to do, and he storms off...

The Rovers, and Ken asks Peter if he's borrowed his car recently. No. (We can trust Peter, eh?) Shelley broaches the subject of working in the pub to Harry. They agree on a job description - senior dogsbody. He likes the sound of that. Fiz complains to Shelley about Maria serving male customers before her, so Shelley advises Maria that, if she wants to flutter her eyelashes (doesn't she just!!) at the men, she also has to serve the women too.

Back to Les' sofa, and Les does his best to declare his never-dying love for Janice, but she smells a rat. (Sorry, couldn't resist that one!) He declares that he's a one-woman man, but Janice wonders where the Housing Officer is...

Ade and Candice sit together and Candice just happens to mention his 'secret', which she's learned from Sarah. [Of course, Sarah has not told Candice about it.] However, they end up holding hands and snogging, with Candice promising much more...

Meanwhile, again at Les' house, Les professes that neither Caprice nor Naomi can hold a candle to the lovely Janice, but she realises that there is no Housing Officer coming and Les admits this to her; he's made the whole thing up. Janice gets her jacket and leaves, slamming the door after her. As she walks away, she allows herself a wry smile...

Sunday 20 October

Firstly an apology and a plea.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide the usual service for those of you reading this overseas. It is hoped that the Spoiler reports that we do provide give you a good idea of the story lines that are occurring at the present time.

Now a plea for anyone in the UK who is reading this message and therefore likely to watch the programme. Do you want to help? Even if you could report on one episode a week it would be helpful. All you need is a pen, paper and a PC ! Why not give it a try?! If you are interested, please contact me off-list. All requests will be treated in strict confidence !! :-)

Okay the parish notices over let's get on with tonight's episode.

Emma tells Sunita that she got passed over for promotion. She thinks that Norman (aka Curly) is quite relived. He seems to be more pre-occupied with changing nappies these days.

Kirk asks Les about doing a fry-up as it is Sunday. Les says he is not hungry; he says he is facing a lifetime of fry-ups for one. Kirk says look on the bright side. If Janice had stayed he would have had to leave.

Audrey tells Martin that she will move in. Particularly as Gail and Richard are due back tomorrow. Martin thinks it is for the best.

Sarah and Candice start discussing Ade.

Norris pretends to be busy with the Post Office despite Emily's request for help. He doesn't want to come into the main shop with Mr Woo.

Sarah and Candice start to argue about Ade. Both of them want him as their boyfriend (I should have been so lucky!). Candice tells Sarah that he has dumped her (Sarah) in favour of herself (Candice).

Deirdre and Ken discuss how Ken's car is being used and getting speeding tickets. Deirdre suspects his "star pupil" working in the garage when it went in for a service.

Norris is taken by Mr Woo to the Rovers.

Deirdre feels certain that it must have happened in the garage. Ken tells her that Kevin reports that he was a good worker. Deirdre says that Kevin cannot watch him all the time.

Sarah and Candice (aka The Girls) are really shouting at each other about Ade. Candice suggests that they both go and see him to sort it out.

Curly (aka Norman) tells Martin that he thinks he is being blamed for Emma not getting her promotion. Martin thinks that Curly is jealous of her.

Norris is walking Mr Woo back from the Rovers. The dog is growling, and when David approaches Norris warns him off. Instead David strokes him and the dog remains calm.

The girls confront Ade. He arranges for them to meet him later.

Ade sees Ken in the street and thanks him for organising the work experience. It was productive, he said.

Mr Woo and Norris are back at the shop, and now they are both getting on well together. Emma is in the shop and wants some truffles for Curly. Emily can't find them. Norris looks at Mr Woo and says he thinks he has sold them. So Emily sells her a mixed bag instead.

Emma arrives home. Curly thinks that Ben is cutting another tooth. When she gives him (Norman/Curly) the chocolates he really feels awful. He says he should be buying her gifts. He says he will make a meal. However she says they will get a take-away instead.

Sarah asks Audrey if she can go over to Candice's. Audrey wants her back by 10.30pm. Sarah protests that it is early.

Deirdre queries with Ken whether Peter would have borrowed the car. Ken reacts angrily with a no.

Emma and Curly have a cosy chat about her what is happening. Emma says that Sunita had told her that Curly really fights for his constituents.

Janice sees Les in the Rovers. He says he has got the message that she doesn't want anything more to do with him. Janice says that she is still fond of him (aaaah - do I see a revitalised relationship here?!?) She says they are good mates. Les tells Kirk that he has to be a little more patient.

Ken apologises to Deirdre for shouting earlier. He has now come to a conclusion that it may possibility Ade.

The girls are waiting for Ade, but there is no sign of him coming. Sarah wonders if Candice is tricking her to go away, and then when she does then when she goes home, Ade will arrive.

Emma hints to Norman that she wants another baby.

When Ade turns up in Ken's cark then Sarah is annoyed. He says whoever is not scarred

Monday 21 October

This episode was sponsored by cadbury buttons and written by Jan McVerry. Director Tim O'Mara.

First of tonight's episodes

Audrey is talking to Steve at the taxi firm and tells him that the flight for Richard and Gail is due in at 8pm tonight. Audrey tells him just to phone and check to save him hanging around. He tells her "I'll pop in on the way round and teach you how to do a curly perm". Audrey laughs and walks off. At the chippie Candice is all over Aiden. Sarah is walking Bethany and sees this. Audrey sees Sarah but She says she's going home and walks off crying. Vik pulls up outside Street Cars in the firms taxi from his holiday.

Sarah is walking into her house, followed by her gran who says "have you been crying". Sarah tells her that she saw Candice and Aiden kissing. Audrey slags off Candice and says "I suppose he was kissing her back". Sarah asks her gran to look after Bethany while she goes and see them.

Emma is folding Ben's old clothes and says to Curly that this clothes will do for Ben's brother or sister. Curly is surprised and says you never said you wanted another baby. He explains that he gave the clothes to some people from the mother and toddler group.

At the corner shop Jason has bought Sarah an alcoholic drink. Todd comes up and asks what's going on. Sarah explains that she is going to tell Candice "what a two faced trollop she is". Jason suggests that she can hit Candice with the bottle.

In the Rovers Peter comes in and tells Shelley that he has a race meeting on tonight, he sees Vik and welcomes him back. Steve is asking Vik for a winning horse.

Sarah is outside Candice's house and questions her about Aid. Candice explains that after last night you try keeping him off me, Sarah says that your supposed to be my best friend. Candice then says its always Aid this and Aid that, her phone beeps and says that will be Aid now, Sarah storms off.

Emma and Curly are talking about Ben being an only child. They say that they are assuming things and not talking. They agree there is no harm in trying.

Deirdre and Ken are outside and looking at an empty space where their car should be. Ken says we can say its Aiden, Know its Aiden but cant Prove it's Aiden. Ken does not want to phone the police because he does not want to look like an old paranoid fool. Sarah is walking home and is met by Aiden in Ken's car. He asks her if she wants a lift home. She asks him have you dumped me for Candice. He replies with No. She asks him why he is snogging Candice behind her back, she walks away. Deirdre says to Ken that they are 99.99 percent sure its Aiden. Ken thinks that they should catch him in the act.

Aiden gets out the car and tells Sarah he is sorry. They talk and Aiden asks Sarah to get into the car while he shifts it, as there is someone beeping their horn, she agrees. Ken is reporting his stolen car. Aiden and Sarah are talking she just want him to be straight with her. They kiss and see Candice. Sarah throws chips at her from the car as they drive off. Peter is in bed with Lucy. They are chatting about Shelley. He say how good she is. Shelley phones him and they agree to get a curry later.

Gail, Richard and two others meet Steve and get into the taxi. Richard says "Coronation Street, I presume its still standing"

Aiden is saying that Ken is tight as his atlas is covered and tapes are in alphabetical order. They speed up and Aiden tells Sarah to smile as the speed camera gets them. Todd is studying and Jason is slagging him off for going to oxford.

Shelley comes home and plays back her messages there is none. Audrey is worried about Sarah. David comments that he can't believe she fell for the I won't be long routine. She phones Candice and is told "dead in a gutter for all i care". Audrey turns down the tv and David is told to keep an ear out for Bethany. Shelley is at Kens worried about Peter.

Sarah tells Aid that she needs to get home. Gail and Richard arrive home. Richard is paying for the taxi but his friend says you paid for the trip we will pay for the taxi. Gail is horrified as she thought they had paid for the trip. She is even more horrified what David is on his own with Bethany.

Sarah is telling Aid to slow down. She wants out and opens the door, Aiden shouts to Sarah to close the door. The car flips over and skids along the road.

Second part of tonight's episode

Aiden gets out off the smashed car and shouts on Sarah, she is not moving. A man sees the smashed car and Aiden runs for it.

Gail is arguing with Richard about them having to pay for the villa and the fact that he did not tell her about it. Richard tells her its normal business practice. Richard is hoping that they will cancel the bail hostel.

Aiden phones Candice but she hangs up on him. An Ambulance passes him.

Gail and Richard are still arguing. Audrey come in and asks if Sarah has come home and Gail asks who has been looking after David and Bethany? Gail then says "Great home coming this has been"

The firemen are cutting the car to get Sarah out. A paramedic is saying that her head injuries look serious and they need to get her out.

Audrey says she's look at the chippie etc for Sarah. Gail says that she will not be out in the cold, she'll be stuffing her face with crisps and to comfy to reach for the phone.

Emma and Mick are walking up to the smashed car. Emma tells them that the car is ken's and that's Sarah Platt. Sarah is taken out of the car into the ambulance.

Richard is on the phone to one of Sarah mates saying if you hear any thing then call. Gail tell Richard that he is always lying, the bracelet, the villa, the ex wife. Audrey comes down the stares and Gail gives her a present. Its perfume. Audrey say "I'm down to my last drop" Gail know as Sarah had told her. Audrey says we should phone the police. Gail replies with "You might have to when i get my hands on her". Emma goes and sees curly asking how Ben it and says that some times she hates this job.

Richard tell Audrey to go home but she doesn't want to till she has see Sarah, he then says you can shout at her down the phone. The door bell rings. Its Emma, She tell them that Sarah was in Ken's car when it turned over at speed and the driver has done a runner. Richard gets Sally to baby-sit. Emma goes to get Mick from Ken's house.

Mick is telling Ken that they found his car and its been in an accident. Ken says "who was driving the car, not Peter". Emma says the driver ran. She goes on to say that Sarah Platt was in the passenger seat. Ken and Deirdre know its Aiden and Mick says i will come back to take a statement. Ken asks before they go "It wasn't a police chase". Emma says there was no other cars involved.

Peter wakes up and sees that he has four missed call on his mobile, says bye to Lucy and leaves. At the Rovers Maria ask Shelley why she's not gone for her curry. Shelley says," Peter is either running late, drunk in a cutter, or stopped by the police for robbing his dads car" but she wants to know there he is instead of guessing. Steve comes to the bar and asks for two pints as Vic will be back in a minute. When be comes back with the photos from his holiday they are all views.

At the hospital the doctor is taking to Gail, Richard and Audrey saying Sarah may have brain damage. Gail want to see Sarah but is told she is getting ready for surgery.

Candice gets a text for Aiden asking her to come out as he has crashed the car. Peter comes home and makes up excuses why he's late. Candice say to Aiden "so you trashed Ken Barlow's car go tell your girlfriend" He states that he left her in the car, Candice starts hitting him.

He tells her there is lots of tubes etc. Gail goes in and the doctor tells her its still you Sarah, Gail ask and "when she come out will she still be my Sarah or will she be a stranger?". She tells the doctor that she has a baby girl and if she come out with brain damage, she starts crying.

Friday 25 October

The Hillmans', and in the absence of Sarah, little Bethany is being looked after very tenderly by David, with Audrey looking on approvingly.

At the hospital, Gail and Richard are at Sarah's bedside. She's still in a coma, and Gail says her thoughts out loud - Sarah was premature at birth but, being a fighter, she survived, and she'll survive again! Gail wants Ade punished for what he did to her little girl. Martin arrives and, looking at the case notes, sees that there is no change, but adds that Sarah is in good hands. Gail smiles at the thought of what Ivy would have said: 'She's in God's hands'. Martin holds Gail's hand, while Richard looks on... Chez Barlow, and Ken has no appetite for his breakfast, blaming himself for the accident, but Deirdre tells him he's a victim too, just like Sarah. She hopes that Ade will get his just deserts, and Ken thinks about visiting the hospital again, for he feels so useless. Deirdre talks him out of that: 'Give them some time,' she advises.

A disheveled Richard arrives home for a shower, and Audrey is distraught at the thought of being blamed for what happened. Richard tells her categorically that no one blames her and gives her a comforting hug.

Hayley enters the Corner Shop to see Dev, who tosses a coin and says that he won't speak to her; he's a respectable businessman and, although Hayley has a right to complain, she ought to complain to the council, not him. He turns and walks away from Hayley.

Todd arrives at the hospital, and Gail is pleased to see him. He's brought a book with him, for he intends to stay for some time. Gail asks him who was driving the car, but of course he doesn't know, although he has a strong suspicion it was Ade...

Curly sits with Sunita in the Rovers and confides in her - Emma wants another baby, but he doesn't feel that they're ready for another baby at the moment. Sunita listens patiently, ever the confidante. A girl enters and asks for Maria and, when Maria acknowledges that she is the lady in question, the girl storms behind the bar and attacks her physically - Maria has been snogging Chris, the girl's boyfriend apparently. Shelley intervenes and breaks up the altercation, sending the girl packing. Vik seems to have enjoyed the 'floorshow' and grins approvingly at Maria.

Candice arrives at Ade's house - the police have been to interview her and she's not well-pleased. Ade, as arrogant and selfish as usual, assures Candice that it was only an accident and threatens to tell the police about her being in Mr Barlow's car with him previously, if she tells the police what she knows. However, Ade would like to know how Sarah is doing (to save his own skin?) and Candice storms off, with the counter-threat that, if Sarah dies, she'll tell all. The spineless Ade looks scared.

Back at the hospital, Sarah is still in a coma, and Richard is concerned that Gail needs some rest; she can't go on without sleep much longer. Martin agrees, and he manages to talk Gail into going home and getting some rest; Gail needs to be alert when Sarah regains consciousness. Gail reluctantly agrees, and Todd appears, offering to sit with Sarah in the meantime.

In the Corner Shop again, and Ken asks Emma if he had alerted the police earlier, would things have turned out the way they did? Emma attempts to assure him that he is not to blame, but Ken still feels responsible. Emma goes to the till to pay for her what she's chosen, and Dev serves her. Emma takes the chance to berate him for his plan to open an amusement arcade, for she sees the harm such places do to the community - kids stealing and mugging to get coins to feed the infernal machines - but all Dev is interested in is profit. She storms out, leaving her full basket on the counter. She'd rather starve than patronise his shop.

In the Rovers, Maria is telling Deirdre that she's not 'dating' anyone - she's just having a good time, that's all. Deirdre mentions that she is quite right to see a bit of the world at her age and, well, Maria reminds her of what she was like years ago, which does not impress Maria one bit! Maria tells Shelley what Deirdre was talking about, calling Deirdre Shelley's 'Mother-in-Law', which Shelley scoffs at. After all, it's Peter's place to propose, not hers... A still-grinning Vik enters, and requests that he be served by Maria, who asks Vik for a tip for the horses. Vik agrees, but only if Maria will have a quiet dinner with him. Maria readily agrees.

Todd sits beside Sarah's bed and talks constantly to her, even though she's still in a coma. Holding her hand, he pours out his heart to her about things they've both enjoyed in the past and what they could do, together, in the future. A heart-broken Todd sobs in despair. (Todd was supposed to be visiting Oxford university today.)

Ade creeps into the street, with Candice. He still wants to find out how Sarah is, but lacks the courage to visit her family. Just then, Gail and Richard come out of their house to go back to the hospital and Richard spies Ade, who flees. Richard gives chase, as does Gail, and the despicable Ade runs down the ginnel, eventually falling over some rubbish, giving Richard the time to catch up with his quarry. Richard, incensed, drags him up and threatens to kill him, while Gail, rushing up, pulls Richard off Ade, shouting that the police should deal with him. As a terrified Ade leaves, Gail cannot control her anger and she lashes out at him with fury, and this time, Richard pulls Gail off him.

Chez Watts, and Emma is talking about her priorities in life - career versus family. She now realises that what is important is her family, but Curly doesn't feel they're ready to add to their family just yet.

Todd is still sitting alone with Sarah, still talking about how he feels about her, and has always done. He blurts out that he loves her, and has always done. He's tried and tried to immerse himself in his studies, but that hasn't worked. 'I love you, Sarah!' he sobs. Just then, Sarah's eyes flicker, and then open! Todd can hardly contain himself and calls out, frantically, for a nurse, just as Gail and Richard arrive in the ward. They rush to Sarah's bed and bend over the now-conscious Sarah. 'Thank you, God!!' whispers Gail through her tears...

Sunday 27 October

Hi welcome to another update.

We start off at the hospital where Gail, Richard and David are anxiously waiting to hear news of Sarah. The doctor says that she is very week but is doing ok. She is a bit disorientated. He tells them that too many visitors would not be good for her. David thinks he will not be able to go in, but Richard says he will wait outside.

Gail sees Sarah (it looks as if she has full makeup under her scratches and bruises!). She cannot remember what happened. She can't remember who was driving the car. She remembers being with Candice.

Ken is talking to the Head Teacher on the phone. He tells her that the police will want to interview some of the pupils, particularly friends of Aiden. When he comes off the phone Blanche says that in her day they would have been birched. (That seems rather tame, I personally would have hung them!). She also suggested a clip round the ear would have helped. Ken says if he had done that he would have been sacked.

Norris is looking up references in a book about a dog's withers (? sorry don't know much about dogs!). Something about if they are the right size (!!). Norris goes round the back of the shop to see Mr Woo. He comes back a few moments later to tell Emily that Mr Woo is lying on the bed stiff and he suspects it is dead.

Roy and Hayley are handing out leaflets, outside the corner shop, about gambling. This is to Dev's annoyance.

Audrey comes into the shop. Dev gives her lots of platitudes. Sunita asks about Sarah and Audrey tells them that she is getting better.

Norris and Emily discuss Mr Woo. Neither of them noticed that he was ill. Emily points out the book says that you should not give a dog chocolates. Norris feels guilty and Emily asks how much chocolate Norris had given him.

Candice goes round to see Ade. She threatens him that if he doesn't confess to driving the car that she will.

Dev comes out of the corner shop. There are a group of residents protesting there. Dev claims they are all NIMBYs (Not in My Back Yard). They also realise that Dev doesn't live near the proposed arcade, so that probably makes him a NIMBY as well.

Sgt Emma Watts takes a statement from Sarah. She remembers having a row with Candice. Gail thinks Candice knows more than she is letting on.

Norris wonders what is going to happen when Rita returns. Emily says they will need to dispose of the body.

Todd visits Sarah. She is pleased to see him.

Ade's father comes home and is surprised to see Ade there.

Emily wonders if Mr Woo's death was accidental. She suspects that Norris didn't really like the dog. Norris protests his innocence. He suggests getting another dog like Mr Woo. He doesn't think Rita will notice the difference.

Ade's father has worked out that Ade was driving the car. He is extremely annoyed with him. He thinks Aide's fingerprints will be all over the car. Ade says they will be there because he worked on it when it was in the garage.

Sarah tells Todd that she remembers there were tapes in the car in alphabetical order. She remember she was there with Ade. Todd tells her that Ade left her in the car for dead. Todd tells her she has to tell the truth to the police.

*** Finally can I once again appeal for anyone in the UK to help writing these reports. If you watch the programme, you can pass on your enjoyment to those overseas who may not see it for several months ahead (some years!), and would like to keep up with what is happening. If you would like to help, please contact me.

Thanks.
