Vera is upset when Terry confesses to robbing Alf. Whilst telling him he deserves all he gets, she pleads with Alf not to inform the police. Audrey feels that Ian should be told about Gail's pregnancy, as he might be able to help.

Terry tells Linda he knows she didn't tell Pete, as she wants him as much as he wants her. He tells her he 's never felt like this before an can't handle it, Pete is his best mate. Linda tells him she's sick of being fancied by Pete's army mates. Mavis tries to explain to Deirdre why she voted for Alf, she was frightened of change.

Wednesday (2726, Monday 18 May 1987)
Audrey finds Alf fighting for breath and calls an ambulance and he is rushed to hospital. Rita offers support to Audrey at the hospital when the doctor tells Audrey that Alf has suffered a minor heart attack. Deirdre offers to help Audrey out at the shop, but Audrey tells her she's got a lot of nerve, when she hounded Alf out of office and into a hospital bed.

Thursday (2727, Wednesday 20 May 1987)
Hilda is worried that if people find out she is going to the Rhyme with Tom, they will begin to gossip. Linda tells terry they can't see each other again, because she loves Pete and doesn't want to lose him. Terry finally wears Linda defences down with kisses, but is interrupted by Curly, and Curly gives him a piece of his mind.

Friday (2728, Monday 25 May 1987)
Terry tells Linda he can't keep away from her no matter how he tries and she admits she feels the same. Alf doesn't like having the shop closed on the Bank Holiday, and Betty can't seem to find Bet.

Betty blames Alec for putting Bet into a position where she couldn't cope. Alec discovers that Bet paid the £15,000 in instalments and was due to pay the last £5,000 before she disappeared.

Betty and Gloria fear for their jobs and Hugh Ridley puts Betty in charge of the pub. Pete fears he's going to lose Linda so promises to change his lifestyle. He breaks down and begs her not to leave him. She is moved by his tears and breaks down, but Pete tells Terry to stay ways from Linda.

Wednesday (2731, Wednesday 3 June 1987)
Terry gives Curly £250, buying the van from him, telling Curly he's leaving Weatherfield. Terry tells Curly whatever is left of the business he can have, because he has decided he's not going to hang around and feel sorry for himself. Alec visits Cecil Newton and tells him that he wants what he's owed. Cecil promises him the £10,000 the brewery has received once they've found someone else to buy the tenancy.

Betty and Gloria are horrified that Alec is now their boss. Kevin is overworked at the garage as Brian's heart isn't in the garage and he spends all his time with Liz.

Friday (2733, Wednesday 10 June 1987)
Phyllis tries to match make between Gail and Jeff. Jeff is encouraged to ask Gail out again. She agrees on the condition he takes her to a disco. Kevin tackles Brian about a pay rise and is shocked to find out that Brian is selling the garage and moving down south with Liz. Alec tells Betty she is too good to lose and that her job is safe.

Brian hears of a garage with accommodation in Macclesfield, but Liz refuses to move to Macclesfield and accuses Brian of not wanting to leave Gail, Nicky and Ivy. She tells him if he goes to Macclesfield he goes alone and that she can't handle the past. Brian tells her that he is frightened of losing Nicky.

Alan pushes Brian for a quick sale, telling Kevin he'll make him manager. Alan offers Brian £16,500 telling him he's got the money ready, but Brian feels things are moving too quickly. Ivy calls on Liz and accuses her of wrecking Brian's life. Ivy warns Liz that Brian will never forgive her if she drags him away from Nicky.

Friday (2738, Monday 29 June 1987)
Gail finds that Nicky is missing and begins to panic, but Jeff offers to help her look for him around the estate. Brian drives Nicky into the country. Nicky feels he should go home but Brian tells him it'll be all right as he's with his dad.

Jeff thinks Gail should contact the police so they can be at the services but Gail doesn't want to upset Nicky by having the police arrest Brian. Percy complains to Deirdre about Mike's sign and Deirdre discovers Mike needed Council permission to put the sign up.

Wednesday (2741, Wednesday 8 July 1987)
Gail contacts the police, telling them about Brian. They tell her off for not telling them about meeting him and put out a search for Brian's van. Alec reprimands Hilda for being dis-respectable and threatens to fire her. She tells him exactly what she thinks of him and resigns.

Thursday (2742, Monday 13 July 1987)
Nicky becomes subdued and upset about going to Ireland, but Brian decides to bring Nicky back to Gail. After getting Nicky home safe and sound she is overcome by emotions and lays into Brian accuses him of putting her through 4 days of hell.

Friday (2743, Wednesday 15 July 1987)
Gloria tries to make the peace between Betty and Alec but neither will make the first move. Alec tells Betty he needs support not aggravation. He knows she's a good cook but that isn't good enough. Betty realises she's not wanted in the Rovers anymore and leaves, warning Gloria that she could be next.

Alan takes up Jenny's idea an plans a secret wedding to spring on Rita. He takes Len's death certificate and his divorce papers to the Registrar.

Wednesday (2746, Monday 27 July 1987)
Alan has second thoughts and considers cancelling the wedding but Jen tells him he must go through with it. She makes him see that Mavis will have to be told. Mike tells Susan the time has come for her to become pregnant, and he doesn't want to wait any longer. Susan tells Mike she's not ready for mother hood, she wants to achieve something first.

Thursday (2747, Wednesday 29 July 1987)
Mavis finds it hard keeping the secret from Rita, she feels Rita thinks she's bothered with Derek. Susan runs the factory in Mike's absence. He returns and tells her he wants children before he's too old to enjoy them. Curly is granted a place on the Business and Management Studies course, starting in September.

Friday (2748, Monday 3 August 1987)
Susan cleans the flat and cooks Mike a meal telling him he's not going to break her spirit. Sally is busy in the shop when the deliverymen the sofa. The furniture shop delivers the chairs as well as the sofa. Kevin accuses Sally of setting him up. He tells her they can't keep them.

Sally confesses to Kevin that she didn't contact Fletchers to get them to take the chairs back. Alf tells her he'll have the chair cleaned for her. Susan tells Ken she and Mike are splitting. She asks his advice; he tells her one of them will have to compromise.

Wednesday (2751, Wednesday 12 August 1987)
Alec searches for Bet in Torremolinos. Bet tells Alec he can have his money back as soon as she's signed the tenancy over. She tells him she's spent all her savings but hasn't touched the £2,000 of his she still has. Alec tells Bet he intends to make the Rovers work. She regrets the fact that she'll never have her own pub again. He tells her there's one way that she can have a pub and that's if she marries him.

Thursday (2752, Monday 17 August 1987)
Alec tells Cecil he expects to be given the tenancy. Cecil reluctantly agrees to back Alec's claim at the board meeting. Bet interrupts Alec's meeting with Cecil to apologise to Cecil for running off. She tells Cecil she's marrying Alec. Alec thinks she's ruining their chances of getting the Rovers.

Jenny tells Alan she's sick of school and won't be going back. Rita feels sorry for Jenny as Alan launches in on an attack as to why she is returning to school. Percy helps Emily with the Meredith charity appeal. Jenny tells Martin she's packed her bag and she's coming to France with him. He tries to talk her out of it but she is adamant and they set off.

Wednesday (2756, Monday 31 August 1987)
The street is closed off as the fete takes over and Percy takes charge of the targetometer. Emily runs the refreshments stall, Rita and Mavis the toy stall, Curly and the Websters on the stocks, Ivy on the cake stall, Deirdre on the tombola whilst Jack provides a bouncy castle.

Bet tells Alec she's booking into the woodlands Hotel as she doesn't think it's right, them both being married to the Rovers. Emily investigates the missing £60, while Percy swears it's been stolen and suspects Sam. Tracy tells Emily that Percy never added the totals up correctly.

Friday (2758, Monday 7 September 1987)
Gloria tries to get Bet to changer her mind, telling her Alec won't be good for her. Vera is depressed that Jack isn't celebrating her birthday. Alec is worried when Gloria admits to him she's tried to talk Bet out of marrying him. Ivy leaves Vera at the club trying to chat up a barman. She is surprised when Don is her taxi driver again.

Tom and Hilda view the bungalow and she agrees with him that it's wonderful. Deirdre has her fist Environmental health committee and finds it hard going. Tom tells Hilda he wants her to come to live in Formby with him. she is shocked but he assures her he wants to marry her. She asks for time to think things over.

Wednesday (2761, Wednesday 16 September 1987)
Hilda realises she misses having someone to talk to but doesn't know what to do. Alec gives Bet the Rovers as a wedding present, he tells her it's hers to do with as she pleases and she's the boss. Hilda tells Tom she can't marry him, everything important that's ever happened to her has happened in Coronation Street and she can't leave. She is sad that he's leaving anyway and they part company.

Thursday (2762, Monday 21 September 1987)
Tracy complains of stomach-aches but Deirdre hasn't got time to worry about her, thinking she just wants to get off school. Bet overhears some of the residents gossiping about how they feel she'll be an awful housewife and it upset her. Tracy is rushed to hospital from school with appendicitis and Ken is furious, as Deirdre can't be contacted.

Friday (2763, Wednesday 23 September 1987)
Bet plans an exotic dinner party and annoys Alec by spending all day preparing for the party. Bet is upset when Rita and the Hallidays have to call off the dinner party. She forces Emily and Mavis to take their places. Ken is furious when Deirdre is too busy to visit Tracy. Tracy understands that Deirdre is busy, but Ken makes the most of the situation to call Deirdre a bad mother.

Deirdre tells Ken she's sick of his nagging her over her work and accuses him of being jealous. Jack borrows the tools and sweeps the chimney himself. He brings down a load of soot, covering the room, himself and Vera. He then uses Vera's new coat to wipe his face. Rita is stunned to see Martin driving around Wetherfield. She calls Martin's house only to find out that he come back.

Wednesday (2766, Monday 5 October 1987)
Vera spends hours cleaning the soot up. She tells Jack they'll have to redecorate now and can't get the soot out of her dentures. Ken tells Deirdre she should be looking after Tracy. Deirdre suggests he takes time off work to look after her but he tells her she's being stupid.

Thursday (2767, Wednesday 7 October 1987)
Rita talks Alan out of rushing back to France to search for Jenny. She is sure Jenny will get in contact. Jack suspects Percy of reporting him to the gas board. Percy tells him if he had reported him he'd have made sure everyone knew. Ken apologises to Deirdre for being so intense. She breaks the news that she wants to go as a delegate at an Environmental Health Conference in Bournemouth. He tells her he's astonished she's even contemplating going. Tracy is ill and he doesn't want Emily and Susan running his home.

Friday (2768, Monday 12 October 1987)
Alan tries to talk Jenny into marrying after her 'A' Levels, she refuses - she loves Patrick and isn't going to wait. Alec is ill with flu so Bet forces him to stay in bed. As she is short staffed, Bet contacts Betty who agrees to return whilst Alec's ill. Deirdre tells Ken she's going to make a success of being a Councillor and he'd better come to terms with that.

Patrick phones Jenny and tells her he's arriving to meet Alan, but Jenny annoys Alan by deciding to return to Paris. Betty tells Bet she's not staying where she's not wanted. Bet orders Alec to be nice to Betty as they need her.

Tuesday (2770, Monday 19 October 1987)
Alan is not happy to see Jenny all over Patrick. He tells Patrick he wants him to stay around as he wants to get to know him. Ken discovers that Deirdre didn't have to go to Bournemouth but she volunteered to go. Alec rents Patrick a room for £20 a night. Bt is annoyed and tells him she's not cooking breakfasts. She also talks Betty into staying on permanently.

Wednesday (2771, Wednesday 21 October 1987)
Alec grudgingly admits that Betty is worth keeping on as her cooking is so popular. He tells Bet that if she stays Gloria will have to go. Rita tries to make Jenny see that Patrick's feelings haven't changed and that if she really loves him she'll stand by him. She apologises to Patrick for acting like a child.

Thursday (2772, Monday 26 October 1987)
Deirdre returns from Bournemouth after having a wonder time. Ken receives letters from the public criticising the council trip. He decides to print some in the Recorder. Betty tells Bet she's work lunch times only so Gloria can keep her job and Alec agrees.

Friday (2773, Wednesday 28 October 1987)
Martin's Dad gets him a job interview at the printing works where he works but, he doesn't want the job. Alec asks Betty to put more salt in her hot pot to make the customers thirsty, but she refuses to change her recipe. Deirdre is enraged to read letters criticising her council trip on the rate payers money. She asks Ken how he could criticise her so publicly. He tells her he knows she was never picked to go on the trip but volunteered. He refuses to print her article, telling her it's boring.

Percy tells Mavis horror stories about jury service. She dreads it and gets drunk. Susan tells Deirdre all Mike wants is a nursery maid. She realises she's going to be stuck in Glossop all day changing nappies.

Vera suggests that they decorate the back bedroom and get a lodger, but Jack is against the idea until he finds out a little more about her plans. Susan is find the prospect of motherhood frightening and Mavis's experience at court take on a personal dimension. Alec goes to Germany on the showbiz job he is offered.

Jack agrees with Vera, now that he knows that she wants a female lodger. Hilda faces the prospect of life without the Lowthers and on her return, Susan drops a bombshell.

Susan cannot face telling Mike that she's had an abortion, but he has heard that she's staying at Ken's and comes to see her. Jack is still enthusiastic about the prospect of a new lodger, unaware that Vera plans to move Amy her mother in, and he redecorates the back bedroom.

Friday (2778, Monday 16 November 1987)
Jack is less than pleased when Amy moves into No. 9 and tries to talk her out of the move. Deirdre's attempts to help Mike after he declared his marriage to Susan over annoy Ken.

Tuesday (2780, Monday 23 November 1987)
Dr. Lowther returns home to find Hilda unconscious and his wife struggling for breath after they have been attacked. They are rushed to hospital, and Kevin and Sally are told that Hilda is in a dangerous condition. Derek comes to see Mavis to tell her some surprising news.

Wednesday (2781, Wednesday 25 November 1987)
The news that Joan has died of a heart attack is the final straw for Dr. Lowther and he breaks down. Jack lays down an ultimatum to Vera, and after declaring that he has left Angela, Derek returns home to get some things, to find that he has an opportunity to reconsider.

Thursday (2782, Monday 30 November 1987)
Hilda is upset at the death of Mrs Lowther, but a surprise visitor arrives and cheers her up a little. Vera tries to compromise with her mother about Jack. Mavis is dismayed at Derek rethink, and decides to tell him what she thinks of his prevarication.

Friday (2783, Wednesday 2 December 1987)
Jack realises that his ultimatum - him or Amy - is an empty threat, as he doesn't want to move out. Hilda comforts Dr Lowther, but feels that she has nothing to return home to Derek and Mavis do a spot of amateur detecting to find out if Angela is having an affair.

Hilda returns home, and Kevin and Sally take care of her; she feels that her ordeal isn't over. Mavis has a panic attack when the man she saw with Angela turns up in The Kabin, and despite Rita's sensible attitude, both and Derek believe the worst.

Tuesday (2785, Wednesday 9 December 1987)
Now that Amy is working in the Rover's, Jack is going to find that she's near all day and night! Hilda has another shock when the attackers are caught. Derek and Mavis continue their detective work, but get a surprise when following the mystery man!

Wednesday (2786, Monday 14 December 1987)
Jack fails to persuade Hilda to return to work at the Rover's and she becomes increasingly security conscious. Derek believes that the mystery man is Angela's brother - but he's in for a big shock when he finds out exactly what is going on!

Thursday (2787, Wednesday 16 December 1987)
Hilda locks herself away, refusing to see anyone, then goes to visit Stan's grave. Mavis is distraught and Derek is horrified to discover that Angela is suing for divorce and claiming that they are having affair.

Friday (2788, Monday 21 December 1987)
Hilda is becoming more depressed and feels that she is of no use to anyone, but will a visit from Mrs Lowther's sister change all that? Audrey makes a decision about Christmas Day an Derek has an announcement about Angela's accusations that will shock and outrage Mavis.

Hilda's decision to go with Dr Lowther to Hartington gives Sally the opportunity to ask Kevin about buying No. 13, and Bet makes secret plans for a good send-off. Derek makes the ultimate sacrifice for Mavis's sake and Audrey persuades Brian to ask her and Alf for Christmas.

Tuesday (2790, Friday 25 December 1987)
It's Christmas Day on Coronation Street but not everyone is happy. Jenny and Alan are not pleased to be spending the day with Mavis, Alec finds out more about Bet's past and Audrey is mot pulling her weight at Ivy's house. But there's one nice surprise in store for Hilda Ogden.

Wednesday (2791, Monday 28 December 1987)
Alec and Bet fall out over some of her past relationships, and Mavis has a worrying time. With Hilda's departure, Kevin decides to hold a party in the empty Number 13, where some surprising meetings happen.

Thursday (2792, Wednesday 30 December 1987)
The tension between Alec and Bet drives customers away, and Derek has some explaining to do about his mysterious disappearance. Gary surprises Jenny by asking her out, but she also has to face the wrath of Lisa.

Friday (2793, Monday 4 January 1988)
Lisa threatens to tell Patric that Jenny is cheating on him when he arrives from France. Kevin and Sally get to work on Number 13, and Sally witnesses some shop-lifting.
