Cycling Jerry was Len Fairclough's apprentice, and three years later business partner. He was bullied into marriage by the domineering Myra Dickenson, but the marriage ended a year later in debt following the birth of their still-borne daughter.

Jerry was always being made fun of by people, but Gerry was a kind-hearted soul, always willing to help anyone. He moved into No9 with Len and later Ray Langton and effectively became their housekeeper.

He died suddenly of a heart attack in 1975
