Teenage Katy is Owen's younger daughter and was a handful, being very willful and stubborn. She met young Chesney Brown at his 16th birthday party in the cafe. He later invited her to be his plus one at Roy and Hayley's wedding. She started skipping classes to spend time with Chesney, infuriating him. Even Izzy disapproved! But Katy and Chesney are love's young dream and were determined to be together against all obstacles.

They decided to move in together and took the flat over the butcher shop because Fiz didn't want her premature daughter, Hope, around the big dog, Ches's pet Schmeichel. All three of them decamped to the flat. It was cramped in the flat and Chesney's market stall was not paying the bills too well. Katy decided she would leave school at 16 but wanted to have a baby. Even though Chesney wasn't sure, she got pregnant. If Owen had issues with Chesney before, this sent him through the roof. It was about this time that John Stape kidnapped Chesney but Katy thought the idea of her pregnancy made him run off. She was about to get an abortion when Chesney escaped and persuaded her not to.

Later that year, they moved back into number 5 but Schmeichel became ill. Chesney spent most of their cash to try to save his beloved pet but with pregnant Katy ready to leave him, he reluctantly did the right thing for his fatally ill dog and had him put down. Baby Joseph was born in December during a school panto that Katy was taking part in.

Katy soon suffered from post natal depression, even leaving Joseph in the house alone so she could get out. Faye Windass discovered it and when minding the baby herself, let something burn under the grill, locking herself out. Katy left the baby with Chesney with help from Anna for awhile, thinking she was not cut out for motherhood but eventually Chesney got her to move back in, pledging more help. Some months later, she offered to carry a baby as a surrogate for her sister Izzy and her partner Gary after Izzy miscarried and wouldn't take the chance on another pregnancy. Izzy didn't want her too and Owen and Chesney were vehemently against it. It would have ruined her relationship with Chesney so Izzy declined the offer, taking up Tina McIntyre's offer instead.

Katy took a part time job in the kebab shop where Ryan Connor was working and developed a big crush on him. After she kissed him once, Chesney found out and made her leave. He refused to forgive her, not able to put the thought of her and Ryan out of his mind. Katy took up with Ryan in a full out affair, moving her and Joseph in to Ryan's home with Steve and Michelle. The shine soon came off the affair for Ryan, having a baby underfoot all the time and eventually he strayed. Katy caught him and left him for good, but Chesney wouldn't forgive her either. They did try reconciling but his feelings for her had dampened and he was now interested in Sinead Tinker.

Katy is now living with Owen and Anna, sharing custody with Chesney, and working part time doing the books for her father's builder's business.
